Like most people, we have more than one roasting tin and like others we are constantly having to replace the smaller non stick, thin steel versions. This made me think that maybe I should offer my opinion of the Le Creuset roasting tin that we have been using weekly or bi weekly for five years. As others have mentioned you get what you pay for. This is a high quality item that is well designed and works well. The 3 ply material gives even heat distrubution and there is no warping. The handles are solid and feel comfortable. After 5 years ours still looks good and performs very well. Yes there are a few scratches on it made by me with steel utensils, but it cleans up well and you can polish the surface which makes it shine almost like new. It will outlast me and no doubt be used by the next generation. If I had my time over again, I would definately make the same decision. Compared with throwing away the non stick, thin steel tins anually, the Le Creuset is worth every penny.

One inch too wide for the oven I usually cook with, so needing second oven usage which is a pain as I store large items in there !Not too much of a hassle as I only cook such large joints at Christmas. The handles give height to overall dimension meaning it takes up a lot of room in the oven.I use it so much on the hob, it's like having a huge braising pan.I did not expect the scratches from the metal utensils, thought they would work in tandem being le creuset also, so lost a star for this, but not affected use.It deglades sooooo well!Liked it so much I bought the smaller size too, but still doesn't fit in smaller oven which is a real pain. Just an inch too wide again! This is almost an heirloom quality cookware item, really solid and always a pleasure to use - but we use the slightly smaller square tin much more often for family roasts etc. So this tin is for the really (really) big roasts or when we do something with lots of veg in the same pan. Definitely worth looking at the square tin first in my view, unless you know you need something this BIGThe only thing to be careful with is the handles. They are beautiful and mostly great in use, but they do stick up a lot, so be really careful not to burn yourself on them (I use full length oven gloves just in case).Including handles, the tray is quite wide (400mm), it only just fits in our 110cm range cooker. Make sure it fits your oven

I had been thinking of buying one one of these for a while but found it hard to justify the price. A recent offer tipped the balance. I am very pleased with the tin. It roasts well, and when I have finished roasting meat it can transfer to the hob to make gravy. I like the fact that it can be used one all hob types . I was very pleasantly surprised how easy it is to clean. An expensive purchase but well worth it.
This is a very solid roaster that does the job just right (best coupled with the Le Creuset rack for meat). I used it to roast a 4kg goose which was done to perfection, the same with a smallish joint of beef. The fact that the tin can then be used on the hob to deglaze means that all the flavours can go into the gravy. It is expensive but the quality is there, I got mine on a Black Friday deal but even at full price it is a good one off investment for serious cooks. It is worth bearing in mind that, as the pictures show, the handles stick out from the tin body and they might prove a problem for smallish ovens; it would be helpful to have a diagram showing all the dimensions.
Pan arrived today. Really good quality, but, and it's not John Lewis's fault. But, the labels on the pans are almost un-removeable. After soaking for ten minutes, scratching with a finger nail , trying to prise the thing off, rubbing with a damp cloth, I was so frustrated I rubbed it off with a soft scourer which has scratched the surface before I have even used the pan. It would just not budge any other way. This also happened with the larger sized saucepan I purchased at the same time. The smaller set of three did not have the same labels on them (thank goodness). I really think that your suppliers Le Cruset should be made aware that the labels should be more easily removed to avoid damage to the pans,. I now have two of these roasting pans. I took the plunge and bought one 6 years ago and I ADORE this pan so much that I recently bought another. My older pan looks as good as the day I bought it and I use this pan a LOT. I have several roasting pans from all ranges (I love to cook) and I can't stand them now, so I had to buy another Le Creuset pan recently. It heats evenly and cleans spectacularly well and maintains its super shiny lustre over the years. My roasts and vegetables don't stick to it but also give great fond for making gravies and sauces. Works beautifully on the stovetop for making gravies after your roast is done. It was most definitely worth investing in this pan!
The finish and appearance are superb, the non-stick coating works very well. The rivets securing the handle on the inside of the pan are an irrittation as they are not non-stick and trap food and are quite a nuisance to clean. Given that everything just slides off the main coated area, it results in the deduction of a point. It's possible to make a saucepan without rivets on the inside.
We have had a couple of extremely good, hefty roasting pans in the last 20 years, but our oldest has been losing its coating and finally given up on us. We decided not to go for aluminium with a non-stick but were slightly apprehensive about paying (what seemed like) so much money... the moment we opened the box, it was that comical glow on opening the treasure chest, a gleaming gem of a pan. It exudes quality, it comes up spotless after each use and we have no fears that it might warp or buckle, this is a pan to be admired and proud of, it's absolutely lovely. We like it so much that we have subsequently bought the 'sauteuse' in the same range. If, like us, you think it's a lot of money, it is most definitely worth every penny.
I got fed up of throwing away cheap roasting tins that seemed to loose the coating in months.Did some research and bought the large rectangle Le Creuset roaster first, it was gorgeous but a bit huge unless you are doing a big roast with veggies in the same pan.So I picked up the smaller square tin for our regular Sunday roast, its perfect for a large chicken (or a lasagne, tray bake etc). The material quality is excellent, it isnt too heavy and it does the job well. The high sides are useful but the big handles can get in the way a bit. Probably my favourite aspect of this tin is that you can leave the juices in it after a roast, put in on the cooked top and make gravy in it - try that in a cheap roasting tin
