Over priced. Paying purely for the brand name and not for the quality. I owned this for two years and drink tea regularly. I was hoping this would be a forever item in my kitchen however after only a few short years the black enamel or painted enamel is coming off in chunks. I am worried about how long I have been drinking this stuff and consuming it before I realized it. I like to buy few items of quality that I keep forever and this is not it. And definitely not safe.

It showed up 6 months late and now does not work. My daughter purchased this for me for Christmas in 2021. It was supposed to ship within 2 weeks but it arrived 6 months later June 27th 2022. The communication on the delay was terrible, we were not offered a discount and my daughter who was 18 at the time and paid for it on her debit card was very confused by the various charges and credits over a 6 month time period on her low balance checking account causing over draft charges. Now it has been a year and a half later and the spout cover will not stay up when I pour water. This makes it impossible to pour hot water without using two hands, the one holding the spout back gets scalded by the steam. I attempted to order this Le Creuset Demi Teakettle. On the item description and order page it read: "Limited Time Offer Extra 20% Off. Use Code: EXTRA at checkout. Final Sale."When I attempted to order this, it did not accept the EXTRA code. I called Williams-Sonoma's Customer Service and was on hold for 15 minutes. The representative was pleasant and agreed with me that it was misleading but there was nothing she could do.While I understand the discount did not apply to all Williams-Sonoma items, the discount was specified on this item. This is clearly false advertising. I will not be making anymore purchases at Williams-Sonoma.

So here is my review, simple: Follow the very short instructions with the kettle. I know sounds very silly, it's a kettle, fill with water, heat & enjoy. Yes, but the complaints made sense when I started using the kettle and I'll explain why. Don't overfill the kettle, there are clear picture instructions on how much water can go in this, it was not made to be filled to the top, so don't do that. Yes, after it boils the water, have a bit of patience, the boiling water will splatter if you don't wait 10 seconds after taking off the heat for water to stop boiling, makes sense. The whistle might be loud, I wouldn't know, because I don't leave the room when I put this on the stove to heat up, it heats up quickly, the whistle is actually soft-sounding, because I remove it from the heat as soon as it starts to whistle. And if you don't leave the room for the short amount of time, you won't boil all your water away which is a bad thing for the kettle to perform for a very long time. Yes, the lid is very snug, I want the lid to fit snug so when it starts boiling nothing spills out the lid. Oh, and if you let this kettle boil for too long, I am positive that is why the handle gets too hot, the handle was perfectly fine because I took it off the heat when it started whistling. The instructions also recommend not heating up more water until the kettle cools back down, and also to empty the water when done using for the day, so you don't get a build up of residue from the water evaporating which affects the inside of the pot and the quality of your tea. I hope that resolves the issues that people are seeing. Personally, I love this color, my picture makes it look more teal, it's really closer to olive than teal, love it, that is what I wanted. I wanted a tea kettle to make a few mugs of tea at a time and that is what this does.
Other reviews have complained about water spitting out when pouring. It's probably due to (1) overfilling and (2) pouring super high boiling water immediately into a cup. Just give it a second or two. I have not had any problems with this kettle or the design. The instructions have a diagram of how high the water should be filled. If you follow this it works perfectly. I have an electric stove (non smooth top)I love the design, the whistle is loud and stainless is easy to keep sparkling.You won't regret this purchase.
I thoroughly enjoyed using this compact kettle, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations in terms of durability. I acquired the smaller version with the intention of using it occasionally. Whenever I did utilize it, I would place it on an induction range to heat my water.During today's tea preparation, I encountered an unexpected issue. After removing the kettle from the range and pouring out the water, I noticed a crackling sound. To my dismay, the enamel coating was beginning to peel off.
I gave this tea kettle to my great- niece as a shower gift. It was one she had chosen and is perfect because it’s exactly what I would have chosen. Tea time is special, shared with spouse, family, friends, or enjoyed by yourself. This tea kettle is the perfect accompaniment for that time. It’s the right size, easy to use, reasonably priced, and looks lovely on table or stove. The best part - it’s unique enough she will, occasionally, think of me when she uses it.
I love this kettle. It's small and a cute design. It whistles every time. I've had it almost 2 years and I keep it clean and it looks brand new. I always dry the pot after using but after almost 2 yrs, its developed some minor rust inside at the bottom. The lid is fine. I reached out to Le Creuset and after sending pics of the kettle and the rust, they sent me a replacement. The lid has a metal knob, not the black one that I would prefer, but the rust was of more importance. Excellent customer service.

I wouldn't really say the color is a deep teal because I think of teal as being a little more green, but it is a really nice blue color with a nice ombre gradation, going from darker at the bottom to lighter at the top. We have a flat electric cooktop, and we normally add a couple of cups of water to the kettle, so it doesn't take much time to heat up. The kettle does whistle, and it is quite loud. It is only when it's overfilled that it doesn't really whistle properly. I'm happy with this kettle, and it was a great price, perhaps partially because the color is discontinued? I bought the meringue color on sale and returned it. I don’t understand what has happened to the quality and function of this brand. The handle and top parts are made of cheap plastic. The top was so hard to push in and take out. It would get really stuck in the pot. I filled the kettle half way with water. It did not whistle when the water was boiling and starting squirting out the water all over the stove. This is not even worth $1. Worst kettle I have ever used.
