7.25 Qt dutch oven is worth the dough!

It works beautifully on stove top and in the oven.Just remember.....When you are working on the stove top you need to be ahead of things! Adjust your overall temps down - high doesn't mean 10 on the dial - temperature is relative to the cookware. When you need to adjust specific temps down, you need to be ahead of it, as the cast iron retains heat for quite a long time and can cause burning/overcooking if you aren't ahead of things. The only drawback to the oven is the weight. And that's saying something!I purchased the 7.25 on sale and it was well worth the price (even if the color doesn't match my other pieces). I don't think you can go wrong with this one!

I have had this oven and used it twice since I purchased it a week ago - once for making clam chowder and the other for beef burgundy. Both dishes were the best I have ever made. For the beef burgundy, I had to cook on the stove for 1.5 hours and then move the dish into the oven for 4 hours. Surely one would think the sauces would be baked on for good. I soaked the interior of the pot with water for a couple of hours & everything washed out without any effort. I was pleasantly surprised. (I have cooked with the old style black cast iron dutch oven for years, what a nightmare to clean compared to this one) No seasoning required. The enamel finish on both the interior and exterior appear to be very durable. Le Creuset has taken cast iron cooking to a whole new level. ... MoreI have had this oven and used it twice since I purchased it a week ago - once for making clam chowder and the other for beef burgundy. Absolutely Worthwhile Investment

Form meets Function in this display worthy piece of cookware. The very first thing I prepared in this Dutch oven was the famous Nigerian Jollof, started on the electric cooktop then transferred to oven where it steamed to perfection. There was no scorching of the tomato sauce base. Cleanup was swift and efficient. One of the best items yet that I’ve curated for my kitchen.

My favorite pot. Although it's super heavy it has a wide cooking surface so things brown well. It's easy to clean - just deglaze with a bit of liquid and whatever lucious brown bits come up easily with a wooden spoon. Do not use metal on this, do not heat the pan on a high flame, do not put in the dishwasher. The trick is to start with a low flame and let the pot warm a few minutes before adding oil and ingredients. Everything I made in this pot is delicious and tender - something about the cast iron just makes for the best cooking and flavor. Great for sautes, frying or low simmered dishes. Works well in the oven also.

I recently purchased this dutch oven to replace another one because I'm changing my kitchen colors (to white) and will give my older Le Creuset pieces that are red to my daughters (who also love Le Creuset). It came quickly and was in perfect condition. I love to entertain; so this size is great for more people. It heats evenly, and stays warm longer. If you follow Le Creusets advice in cleaning it - it is also easy to clean. These are lifetime purchases which can be passed down if cared for; and if you enjoy cooking - they are a "must have". I'm on the wait list for a smaller size and hope I can get that one too! Love them!

But, now, it sticks greatly on every careful meal preparation and following warming ups. Le Creuset might have changedtheir production practice degrading the overall quality as it happened around with too many respected famous brands. Otherwise, so far, enamel seems to be strong thought we use wooden toolswith it always to avoid unnecessary stress tests for the enamel.

Horrible
6 July 2021

This was such a disappointing purchase for me. I purchased it mainly to make arroz con gandules and after the first use the stains from the color of the rice would not come off. It looked as if I didn’t clean it no matter how much I tried so felt uncomfortable returning as it was hard to explain why the food coloring wouldn’t come off. Tried to use agin with the staining and now the outside of the rice turned black as that black from the pot is coming off onto the food. Never thought I’d have to throw a cast iron pot like this away. I thought a purchase like this would last for years. Not sure if I just got a defective one but disappointing now the less.

So glad I treated myself......!!!
26 April 2022

I have waited a long time to start my own Le Creuset collection. I love to cook, and I've always heard such great things about the Le Creuset brand. However, they are quite pricey! I finally decided to splurge on the 5.5 Round Dutch Oven - and I am so glad I did! I've made stuffed peppers, marinara sauce and a pot of soup so far. It warms up quickly and cooks so evenly - its amazing. On top of everything, clean-up is a joy. It just wipes clean. I purchased the Meringue color and it is gorgeous! My biggest decision now is whether to collect all the same color - or mix them up! Either way, my collection will definitely be growing.

Worth every penny
27 August 2022

I got one of these as a wedding gift almost 20 years ago from a John Lewis wedding gift list service. Although the price seems a lot for a casserole dish, the quality of these pots is incredible and only eclipsed by the amazing customer support I have received from Le Creuset. After being used almost daily for so many years we noticed some of the enamel was wearing away inside the pot. I emailed the Le Creuset UK helpline and attached photos of the pot. They were incredibly helpful and offered to send out a free replacement which arrived a few days later. TBH I thought 20 years of service was a good innings but Le Creuset really mean it when they guarantee these things for life.
