First, let me be clear that I am reviewing the Le Labo, HINOKI scented conditioner not the BASIL scented and not lotion as it was the only selection that would come up when I searched. The Hinoki is one of my favorite smells. It is second to only Oud. I am not crazy about fruit or rose smelling products. This conditioner not only smells amazing but it actually makes my hair feel super soft and so shiny. It is very thick and you don’t need much at all!! Hinoki is actually a type of cypress tree that is native to Japan. I've bought this conditioner a few times and I'm HOOKED! There's no comparison. My long hair often gets tangled in the shower, but this conditioner makes it much easier to brush afterward because it makes my hair so smooth. It's super thick, like the texture of body butter, and is very hydrating. It's particularly great to have on-hand in the winter when hair gets more dried out and brittle. One person said they didn't like the smell, but I think it smells musky like a men's cologne. Love it!Now I'm intrigued to try more Le Labo products.

This is the only conditioner that detangles my long, overly dyed hair easily and makes it look strong and healthy. I didn’t expect a perfume company to make such a good conditioner. You only need a very small amount to do the job. The consistency is very thick so I usually store the bottle upside down. Also it smells divine of course.

I love the scent of hinoki, which not only moisturizes dry hair that has become brittle, but also relaxes the mind. It is recommended to use it with the lid facing down as it has a very sloppy style. Otherwise, you will need a lot of force when you squeeze it to use it. As a dry hair treatment, I am using it 3 to 4 times a week and I can feel the hair texture is very soft. However, I have aged and dry type of hair that is neither dyed nor permed. So I can't guarantee that it will have the same effect on my hair that has been damaged by dyeing or perm.
The smell is strong. I agree with that. I’m not a fan of the scent right out of the bottle, but all of Le Labo line has a very strong. Your hair won’t smell that strong. It is the only conditioner that truly moisturizes my thin, damaged hair. It doesn’t make my hair greasy or weighed down. I’ve used olaplex and k18, oribe, and just about every other hair care line, and this is the best at smoothing my damaged, highlighted hair. The bees knees.
I’ve been buying this conditioner for nearly two years. I have an extremely sensitive scalp that can be affected even by conditioner. This le labo product of beautiful scented, leaves me long hair silky & my scalp unaffected. Highly recommend.
Oh wow, I definitely didn’t expect this conditioner to be so good! Got it just for the sake of using my voucher, so didn’t had much expectation for this product. Also - I’m a big fan of premium hair care brands, so I used a lot of expensive, hyped brands in the past and it’s hard to surprise me. However, I was so amazed of the smell and performance of Le Labo conditioner - it has a very thick consistency and performs even better than some of my extremely expensive hair masks! Didn’t weight my thin hair down and I could instantly feel the moisture boost when I applied it on my wet hair. The smell was lovely as well - I was concerned about “basil” note but it actually smells nice - neutral and fresh. Definitely my must have now!
Everything about this product is brilliant. I use it alongside the shampoo which is also excellent. I have fine, highlighted short hair . The product itself is very thick and quite difficult to squeeze out but I wouldn’t say it warrants removing a star ! Very moisturising but doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it lank . The Hinoki smell is just divine . Always a repurchase
I initially purchased this product because I was most interested by the fragrance of it. I am slightly obsessed with wonderful smelling hair products. When I received this item I didn't really care for the smell. It's quite masculine in scent(to my nose) and reminds me of the smell of a freshly cut pine tree. It's not a bad scent, just not what I was expecting. I decided to still give it a chance and see how it worked for my hair. I am so glad that I did because this is the only conditioner that has ever made it possible for me not to have to apply any type of hair serum or oil to ensure my hair doesn't look frizzy and flyaway. It leaves my hair so smooth and shiny, without it being flattened and heavy feeling. I have found my HG conditioner that I was always ... This conditioner is thick and due to that it's quite moisturizing. The smell is pleasant like an earthy spa smell. But the smell is faint and doesn't last long. There's better out there for the price. You're paying just for the name.
