Le Labo Santal 33 Eau De Parfum

I had high hopes for this perfume and really wanted to like it. Santal 33 is my all time favourite and even if it was 50% similar I would happily wear it.I love the bottle, presentation and it’s important that it’s vegan to me. Being made in France was also appealing.However I did not like the smell at all. It has a weak, but sweet and a bit cloying fragrance, and unfortunately not like the beautiful description, to me personally.I would like to try others in case this was an anomaly, but might wait until there are testers. Sorry to give a bad review but it was requested several times.

Yes, this perfume can be generic, especially in a place like NYC and or at an event with wealthy people. Some will overly saturate themselves as a status symbol, and that’s annoying. I avoid wearing in those situations. This scent is complete luxury and class, and screams expensive. This perfume is not only extremely high quality, as it is formulated in front of you if you go to the Le Labo store (also with free label personalization) but it is also a cult classic. I would categorize it as much of a classic as Chance Chanel. There are cheaper dupes on the market, notably Maison Louis Marie No. 4., which is lighter and sweeter, however nothing will ever compare to Le Labo.

If you’re interested in Santal 33 I’d recommend looking at a dupe fragrance, unless you’re a purest. I will say that this perfume comes off as home fragrance-y to me. I’ve smelled this in hotel Zaza in Austin, Tx, which lead me to purchasing the fragrance oil from Aroma 360. To me this scent is reserved as a home fragrance and I absolutely adore using it as such. Is this a safe blind buy? Maybe, if you’re in love with woody herbaceous smells. In general I’d recommend trying a sample or going to your closest target to grab something from the Creamo papyrus line. They have a dupe fragrance and a shower gel that is 90% similar. I will say that you have most likely smelled Santal 33 in the wild from some Gen Z’er!

Delicious acquired taste of warm sandalwood and realistic worn in leather. I broke down and bought it for myself -and I’m usually a sweet gourmand perfume gal. Santal 33 has many dupes but just like my beloved MFK Baccarat Rouge 540, they cannot be replicated. Santal has depth that many lack. It lasts and projects well but not in an obnoxious in your kind of way. Expensive yes, but handmade to order and thoughtful through the whole process. Love it. Especially for fall and winter months! No pickles for me lol

I cannot begin to tell you where this scent transports me--maybe to leather furniture store and some human walks by who smells like heaven. That's the picture in my head anyway! Every nose is different and some have said it smells like pickles. No pickles here. Just an addictive intoxicating unique smell. I found out about this scent when I purchased another scent from Nordstrom and they gave me a sample bag as part of a promotion for buying scents. I had to grab it the next day. I could literally only have this smell in my wardrobe for the rest of my life, and be perfectly content. But of course I had to try their other scents. So, I currently have Another 13, Ambrette 9, and The Noir from Le Labo. The item was received earlier than expected and in great condition. It was my first time using this product so I didn’t know what the legitimate product looked like. I had smelled the perfume a friend was wearing at work and I asked her what it was and she said “Santal 33.” So I went looking for it online and found it at a VERY economical price on Walmart! So I was very skeptical about it being legitimate, but bought it anyway. Once I received it, and tried it, it didn’t smell at all what it smelled like on my friend! So I brought the package to my friend and she confirmed it was the real deal. So if you find this product for under $40, get it! As for the scent, it’s too woody/earthy to wear alone for my liking. I will need to combine it with something more sweet scented.

Lasting, natural scent

I’m not a perfumier so unfortunately I can’t give you a wordy review on the top and heart notes - but I can tell you that this is a delicious, lasting scent. I’d been looking for a fragrance for my husband who has a preference for woody, grassy scents. I wouldn’t say this is quite that - it’s difficult to describe. But it’s definitely more of a natural scent than being overly musky. I wouldn’t say it’s overtly masculine but it’s definitely not feminine either - it could work as a gender neutral fragrance if you don’t favour anything too florally (which is me!). I gave 2 stars for the same day, fast delivery service. Simple brown paper packaging and unsophisticated bottle design, exactly as it shown, no surprises here. I was excited to open the package and experience a new Smell so highly ranked. But this smell just has thrown me away, to be honest. It's very sharp, acidic and truly specific, almost to my olfactory glands' aversion. I waited until it settles down for a few min. But it's still not to my test at all, period. I would not give it a high ranking, be cautious and don't believe them until you try it. Another $113 thrown away. Do not recommend it. Very-very disappointed. Customer service is out of reach. No returns allowed in USA. Noted that some negative reviews were taking away. Not fair.
