A solid buy

I bought the sketching pencils set, which I use for rough drafts and layouts, which I then ink. These pencils sharpen nicely and retain their points well. I mostly use them on Strathmore drawing paper, smooth and vellum, and have no complains. They performed precisely as needed. Maybe if I was an artist specializing in pencils exclusively, I would have caveats, but I am not, so I don't, excepting that this is a caveat of sorts. Plus, these pencils are vegan. Woot woot. #sweepstakes

This is my favorite pencil for doing math. I hold my pencils very hard and I press down very hard as well but with this pencil I'm able to lighten my trip and not press down as hard. This is the best pencil to use on engineering paper. I also use it for cross section and mapping and sed/strat column making in geology and it works great. Works excellent with the rite in the rain books as well. My favorite pencil to use

Great set

This is a great set of pencils for sketching. My daughter has really been into sketching, she’s been using regular pencils and got super excited when I gave her this set. She loves how easy it is to sketch and do the different shadings. This is the perfect set for beginners, it comes with six different pencils that go from light to dark, this set also comes with a pencil sharpener and a graphite pencil sharpener. This is a really god brand and I will be purchasing more of this brand for my daughters sketches, so yeah I do recommend this set.

High quality pencil set for new to advanced artist
12 October 2019

I am really enjoying the Farber-Castell Creative Studio Graphite Sketch Set. It has six different shades of pencils (2H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, and 6B), a pencil sharpener, and an eraser. The pencils come pre-sharpened which I thought was cool and I was able to start drawing right away. They work well on different types of paper I have found. They feel like high quality pencils and draw/write nicely and feel smooth in my hand and easy to hold. I think this set is good from beginner to advanced artists. My sister loves to draw and I plan to buy her a set of these pencils for Christmas this year. I think will make a great stocking stuffer! I also donate toys every year to a local charity and plan to bring some of these sets there as well. I recommend this graphite sketch pencil set as it is high quality and fairly priced. Plus it comes with six pencils, a sharpener, and an eraser and has a nice tray that they all sit it in - in the box.

Nice sketch set!
12 October 2019

This Creative Studio Graphite Sketch set is very nice. They work well with being able to make a quick sketch or drawing. I like that this set came with a nice sharpener and big eraser too. They have the same grey color as other standard all purpose pencils. I like how these are not the dark drawing pencils that are easy to smudge. These Creative Studio pencils have very clean lines and are very easy to shade with too. If you are looking for a nice pencil set to draw or sketch I would recommend these. The shipping was nicely packed and came just on time. These are my honest opinions for being able to test out these Creative Studio Graphite sketch set pencils. Below is a picture of the nice package this pencil set came in.

Nice!
15 October 2019

I received my Faber-Castell Graphite Sketch Set the other day and finally had the chance to try them out! I’m not an artist, nor would I ever claim to be, but I did in fact enjoy drawing. I have always been a fan of art and my mother was blessed with the talent to draw. I knew she always used Faber Castell and when these came up on my dashbord, I figured I would give them a try. Boy, am I glad I did! This specific set comes with 8 pieces and they are 2H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, & 6B. Also, a sharpener and an eraser are packaged in. I’ve noticed when using other graphite pencils that when you try to erase them they smear and it’s near impossible to get those marks off your clean, white paper. Also, the pencils come pre- sharpened which saves me so much time! These pencils don’t seem to need to be sharpened as quickly as others that I have used in the past either! All and all, I think this set is well worth the price and is perfect for any artist or just for the basic drawer that may be just starting out! I would definitely recommend!

Quality pencils w/ a good sharpener & eraser!
10 October 2019

This is a classic sketch pencil set that includes 6 pencils with all different graphite weights: 2H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, and 6B... the perfect weights needed to acquire real depth to your drawings/shading. Some sets come with more graphite weights, but I think this one is a perfect "classic" set that will get the job done and get it done well. My only negative opinion is that the eraser that comes with the set is not the best of quality, so be careful about how you use it, because it can leave behind marks. I don't use an eraser much, so I have not found it to be a big deal. The only time I use an eraser is when doing the initial outlines, and those should be done with a lighter graphite anyway, so if your process is right, you shouldn't have issues. I could only see it being an issue if you're trying to erase dark lines or heavily shaded areas-- which is asking for a disaster anyway, regardless of quality of eraser. You will not be disappointed with this set. It's everything an artist needs for a skilled drawing with dynamic depth.

Searching for years, found here
14 January 2015

For sketching and blocking out on watercolor paper, I want a pencil that is soft and won't leave any kind of groove in the paper. It needs to put down enough graphite for me to see what I've got, but it needs to erase uniformly, whether I've pressed very lightly or rather firmly. In 2009, I found 2 Faber-Castell #2 pencils in my stash that mom had gotten when I was in 9th grade. I had been hoarding them for artwork then and had saved them for art work again. In the last 5 years, I've worn those 2 short and looked actively for something similar. In desperation, I looked over the 2 shorties I've got for a brand name and only one had the Faber-Castell stamped on it. I then searched the Blick website for an F-C #2. I bought 2 of them initially and found they were even better than my old stash, so I bought a dozen. It might seem silly to be so enthusiastic about a pencil, but after looking for over 5 years and spending more than a bit of change, it is understandable!

The worst I've ever used
17 April 2015

I do detailed landscape drawing and painting. Saw these in the store, loved the little case which is perfect to tuck into my bag to draw on the go.The problem with these pencils is that they:- Don't erase completely from the paper, regardless of the lightness of hand used in laying it down, extra effort was needed w/a hard white plastic eraser....several times. The end result being spots of erased areas and ghosting no matter how hard I tried...even on light values. Which meant that I had to adjust the values just to hide the ghosting, in addition to the normal value adjustments.- Don't smear or smudge, instead the graphite gathers in awkward clumps.- I experienced having little or no control when using the 2, 4, & 6B's. It didn't matter how light my hand when ... MoreI do detailed landscape drawing and painting. It didn't matter how light my hand when laying down a line, it grabbed the paper and a dark line was the result (on smooth bristol paper).- My guess is that there's a lot of wax in the binder for it to behave this way.- All around pain. Kept the cool tin, tossed the pencils.I've attached an image which is a detail of a drawing. Ghosting can be seen where the trunk of the tall tree on the left was initially placed. Also notice the roundish white areas in the sky behind... these pencils just don't erase properly.

Work Great!
15 October 2019

They're wonderful! I just love how the Creative Studio pencils work. Each has their own job to do and they do it quite well. I get a crisp narrow line when I need one. I love that it doesn't smear as my hand brushes over it, being a leftie that is the single most important part of the pencil. One is for a little thicker line when necessary.. and most of that I control via the included sharpener. My favorite is the shading, I just love watching the page come alive with shading.. it's always been my favorite! I highly recommend the Creative Studio set, it has everything you need and its economical!
