I have the Leaf (in fact my family has three of them) and I just purchased the Twig to try for myself. Overall it shaves well and I’m very pleased with it. I purchased the silver colored one and it has good length, weight and feel to it. It seems that the Derby blades won’t fit in the Twig.I wish Leaf would have a thread or list that people could post which blades work and don’t work on their shaver so we don’t waste money having to try different blades to see which ones fit inside of the head. I know they sell their own half blades but they don’t cut as well as the ones I can buy from other sellers. After all, isn’t the benefit of the Leaf and Twig (and all safety razors for that matter) the fact that you can use any double edged blade? I have six safety razors and this is the first one that has issues with a blade not fitting. Regardless, I’m keeping my Twig because it works well. Maybe I got a defective one and that’s why the blades don’t fit right but it’s not worth returning because i really like this razor.So be aware that there may be an issue with it fitting blades that you used with your prior safety razor. You will have to experiment with small batches of different companies blades to find ones that fit. And that sucks because not all blades cut the same and it would really suck if you couldn’t use your favorite blade with this razor when it would work with other safety razors.For the record the blades that fit perfectly are, Parker and Astra Superior Platinum. The one that DOES NOT FIT is Derby Premium. I have some Dorco platinum coming in to test them but I don’t know if I can update my review. As I stated, it would be a great resource for Leaf customers if they had an area on their site that customers can post or list the compatible blades that work with each razor. I can get a shave that beats any cartridge razor and only taking maybe 30 seconds longer, and costing so much cheaper. I just received this razor this afternoon and completed my first shave with it. I have been doing wet shaves with several DE Razors for the last two years. I used the LEAF SE Blades that came with my TWIG Razor, ART OF SHAVING OIL, and CASWELL MASSEY ALMOND SHAVE SOAP.I must say this is the easiest, smoothest and most comfortable shave I’ve had since switching from multi blade cartridges to wet shave safety razors. I recently started wet shaving / DE shaving and decided to try the the Twig and I am very impressed. The razor and blades come in a perfectly sized box inside another safety sealed box. The inner box fits the razor and box of 5 blades neatly and could be reused to store your razor. Anyways on to the highlights. I used the included Leaf blade and found it easy to load and secure in place with the magnetic strip. I did the usual wet the face warm up the skin a bit. Applied pre shave and shave soap with a brush. First pass WTG was ver smooth and did a nice job on the cheeks DFS but this razor is rather mild so the neck and mouth are required 2+ passes with touch ups. I will say I had no irritation and 2 minor nicks. I attribute the nicks to trying to get used to the ... This could be a daily driver but I’ll keep experimenting with finding the “perfect” blade for this great razor. It was a lot of fun to shave and easy to maneuver especially inder the nose which I struggle with using the Rockwell 6S due to the large head/cap sizes. Give it a go. I think I’ll even order another one, maybe in the more aggressive setting (Thorn) if I don’t find a Feather blade or similar to offer a closer shave. I would buy this again so give it a shot and add this great tool to your toolbox! :)

I guess that is true to some degree, but really I have never had any issues with just the natural way I shave. After the first couple of days using it, I realize it really isn't that different from a disposable razor except that it causes much less irritation. I actually us it to shave my neck line behind my head. I do this by feel as well and no shaving cream. With a multi-bladed disposable this would leave my neck raw, not so with this razor. I don't miss that though as it is a fine trade for less irritation, less waste, and in the end less money (though it is a pricey initial investment at $60).

I’ve got several double-edge (DE) safety razors, and picked up the Leaf Twig because I liked the look of it. It’s a nice compromise between a cartridge razor and the (arguably bigger) transition to a DE safety razor.The single-edged blade has most of the benefits of a safety razor; cheap blades, no plastic, less razor burn, etc. As well as a few benefits over traditional DE designs; smaller head for tight spaces (e.g. beneath the nose) and less-obstructed view, technique more familiar to cartridge (weighted handle instead of head), etc.The Twig is Leaf’s gentler/more-forgiving razor. Similar to beginner-friendly DE razors- a “1” on adjustable safety razors. You’ll likely need 2+ passes (one with the grain, one not) to get a comparable “close” shave. I haven’t tried ... It’s a nice compromise between a cartridge razor and the (arguably bigger) transition to a DE safety razor.The single-edged blade has most of the benefits of a safety razor; cheap blades, no plastic, less razor burn, etc. As well as a few benefits over traditional DE designs; smaller head for tight spaces (e.g. beneath the nose) and less-obstructed view, technique more familiar to cartridge (weighted handle instead of head), etc.The Twig is Leaf’s gentler/more-forgiving razor. Similar to beginner-friendly DE razors- a “1” on adjustable safety razors. You’ll likely need 2+ passes (one with the grain, one not) to get a comparable “close” shave. I haven’t tried Thorn, their “aggressive” razor, but it’s probably a ~2-3.If you’ve used a DE safety razor before, this definitely feels different. Rather than being top-heavy and balancing 2/3-3/4 up the handle, the Twig balances in the middle of the handle (just below the narrower grip). But the handle has more heft (2.5oz) than a cartridge handle, and you can use that weight more than pushing with your hand. I like using the Twig when shaving against the grain where the DE head weight is useless.You can break DE razor blades in half to use them in the Leaf/Thorn. The bottom twists easily (perhaps too easily) to raise the head so you can insert a single-edge blade. If you keep twisting the head rotates to the side- gratuitously, like butterfly/scissor car doors.

I have since recommended the Leaf Shave Thorn to all the other women on the PCOS message boards! I absolutely love and adore it!I just wish you sold a good shave bowl that fits your soap pucks perfectly – maybe in pink or purple… or a nice floral design? I’d love some recommendations on a good synthetic silvertip shave brush with a long, pink handle, too! It can be downright traumatic for a straight woman in America to admit that a medical condition requires her to shave her face and neck every single day. Having all my facial hair removal supplies at least be pretty and pink and feminine REALLY helps make the whole thing feel less stigmatizing and upsetting. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the Thorn coming in all the pretty, feminine colors, too – not just the Leaf!
I've always used multi-blade cartridge razors, so this was my first foray into single blades. There were plenty of nicks the first few weeks, but either I got better technique or my skin adapted, because I've had almost no blood for a couple months now. I'm happy with the switch because now I'm able to replace the blade after a few shaves to keep a consistently sharp edge for use. With the cartridges costing over $2 each, I tend to use those far longer than would be advised.Overall, I'd say a good product. I have two notable drawbacks, one minor, and one nit pick.Notable drawbacks:- It's hard for me to get right under my nose. They stop at the narrowest part, where the handle starts to widen back out up to the head, but my fingers tend to slide up past that narrow spot onto the handle where it's just smooth and slippery. Having that extra grip up higher would be great.Minor drawback:- The handle is quite short. I'm not sure if it's to save on cost or weight or what, but I'd like the handle to be an inch or two longer.Nit pick:- I'm not sure which part it is, but something seems to get a bit stuck after using it for a few days. When I go to twist to replace the blade, I have to put some effort to get it to release and start twisting. I tried tightening it less when putting in a new one, but that didn't really change much. Maybe it's just some shaving cream getting dried in somewhere? Not sure, but it's not really a big deal. Just a little nuisance.
Leaf Thorn reviewI love my Leaf single edge razor. I had been considering jumping into the single/double edge razor world for a while, and finally made the leap. I compared the Leaf with several other products, decided to go with a single edge with an angled head to ease the transition from a cartridge. I purchased the Leaf Thorn version, which is reported to be a bit more aggressive than the Twig. I have not been disappointed. While there is certainly a learning curve transitioning from a pivoting head cartridge razor to a fixed head single edge, I have found the process quite enjoyable. I love the look of the matte black razor. It is sleek and classic looking. The angle of the head feels very natural coming from a cartridge razor. I find that with the right shave cream (for every day I use Cremo Original, on weekends when I have more time , D.R. Harris lavender shave soap) I get a very smooth shave with just two passes. I have a relatively dense beard with moderately coarse hairs. With these two passes, I can get 2-3 shaves out of the Leaf brand, single edge blades before the blade gets a bit too dull and starts to scrape rather than slice through the hairs. I shave every other day, so I will go through one or two blades a week, which will save me at least $100 a year compared to the expensive cartridge blades I was using. I purchased the Leaf Thorn bundle which came with the razor, razor stand (which I love), 5 free blades, a pack of 50 blades, along with a blade disposal recycling tin. I purchased separately the case for the single edge razor, which securely cradles the razor for when I travel. For someone concerned about the upfront cost, this is nothing compared to what you will save over time compared to cartridge blades. Overall, I have been very pleased with my Leaf Thorn. It has given me a great shave and brought some fun back to my shaving experience.
