One square foot (sq. ft.) in area is measured as 1 foot x 1 foot (30cm x 30cm). For example, a skin size of 4sq. ft. does NOT correspond to the dimensions 4 feet x 4 feet (this would result in an area of 16sq. ft., i.e.: 4 x 4). Hence a skin with an area of 4sq. ft. would have the corresponding dimensions of approximately 2 feet x 2 feet, or 1.5 feet x 2.67, which when multiplied, results in 4 square feet.
