Leatherman Mut | Multi Tool | 16 Tools | Stainless Steel | Black | Molle Compaitble Sheath | Engravable | 25 Year Warranty Black / Green Molle Sheath
The Leatherman MUT is the first multi-tool that functions as both a tactical and practical tool for military, LE, or civilian shooters. The MUT features multiple areas on the tool threaded for cleaning rods and brushes and all the screwdriver bits are sized for standard military and civilian sighting adjustment work. Also built into the design of the tool is the flexibility to replace the most commonly used parts on the spot, using a simple Torx #8, keeping down-time to a minimum. With all this, a MOLLE sheath and scope adjustment wrench included, the Leatherman MUT may very well be the most efficient and useful piece in your kit.

The hammer has came into countless uses: tent stakes, loose nails, adjusting stubborn crampons, cracking wild nuts, it has ensured the Mut is indispensable. The blade is the downfall. This allows me to fully disassemble more firearms with only one tool. The wire cutters will cleave through most solid wire, even farm grade barb with enough persuasion. However, they lack the cutting edge and force capable to dent military grade concertina wire, especially newer strands of it. The saw is one of the better tools, it will cut through any wood or board I set in front of it with enough elbow power. I do not know if it is just my MUT, when the pliers are engaged, the blade is locked in the closed position, however the saw is not. It will move freely in my palm while I am working. It has bit me a few times letting me know its there. The bit retaining spring is easy to work, bends out of shape, just bend it back, issue solved. The optics bit with the T15 and Hex head, I would like to see a different variety of long bits such as this one as different optics platforms have different screws. I do try to keep mine identical when possible, but in the real world that is not always the case when dealing with equipment made from so many parts of the world. I want a pair of tweezers on board. Not just a cheesy set that will break, but a good zero point set that can side in and lock in place. they can deal with small part placement, splinters and other tweezer things.

My first issue was that my MUT shipped without the separate scope adjustment tool that is advertised as included on the website and product packaging. I had to reach out to cabelas to get the info to open a ticket with Leatherman so they could ship me the scope adjustment wrench separately. I certainly could have returned the item to Cabelas and exchanged it for a new one, but that felt like a big waste of gas, plus the packaging got pretty beat up, and the problem really wasn’t cabelas fault. Leatherman did replace the missing wrench and mailed it to me.For the money spent on this tool, I would expect a few improvements to the overall experience.Second issue was the instructions manual covers all the various Leatherman models, except for this particular MUT ... MoreMy first issue was that my MUT shipped without the separate scope adjustment tool that is advertised as included on the website and product packaging. I’m surprised they’re too cheap to print a dedicated MUT manual. The tool and its features are not immediately evident, so a specific manual could have been helpful (I watched YouTube videos to learn more). My next issue was how stiff the tool was, I thought I was going to snap the metal trying to get it open. It took several YouTube videos to be confident in prying it open (I was literally bending the metal handles it was seized up so hard). When I finally got it open, there was an annoying amount of grease or oil covering the entire tool. It took a couple days of opening and closing each component and wiping it clean. The oil was getting all over my hands and clothes every time I picked it up. Ironic because the oil did nothing to make it open smoothly, and it’s still obnoxiously stiff to open and close.4 stars feels fair because I do believe it is the leading multi tool for firearms compared to other options on the market. I have an abundance of professional tools at home, but I needed something for the field or the range, and this multi tool helps me avoid buying a larger set of field tools that I probably would never use (or want to lug around with me).Leatherman: don't forget the scope adjustment tool, print a dedicated MUT manual, if you’re going to use so much oil, it should actually help the tool open and close more easily without risking damage to the tool.

Really good pliers.Practical clip.I had to modify the tool because its a violation of waffengesetz 42a to wear this in public in germany. This is because in my opinion the knife blade can be opened and fixed with one hand and is therefore charaacterized as a one handed knife.

This was the one thing my husband asked for as a gift for Christmas. He's told me this story before and he tells it far better than I can but he was a Sapper in the Army and was issued an EOD leatherman. On a training exercise he set up his explosives and left his leatherman behind. Somehow he was able to find his multi-tool several yards from where he had set the explosives and not even a scratch was on the thing! It wasn't until just a couple years ago that he finally lost his multi-tool while cleaning out a storage facility - he was pretty upset that he lost it.Needless to say he was thrilled when he got the MUT for Christmas. I still have my original PST that I bought in the very first week the hit the stores in the early 80's. I moved up to an original Super Tool a few years later. I broke it trying to pry a 20 penny nail up in the top of a hedge fence post. Leatherman replaced it immediately with a Super Tool 200 no questions asked. My Leathermans are out every day for something. I kept looking at the new models but had a hard time moving on from my ST until my wife bought me the MUT for Christmas a copy of years ago in a package that included the bit kits. It is the sturdiness, most versatile well built yet. It's laying in my lap right now as I just used it. I can't recommend it highly enough. The only bad thing about Leatherman is their selection. It is very difficult to choose just one!
I use my MUT every single day. I work maintenance and I am in constant need of a reliable tool. The MUT has everything on it that I would need on a daily basis. The tools are heavy and well-crafted. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as strap-cutters, blades, wire cutters, pliers, etc. Everything is perfectly machined and built to last. The finish is beautiful, the design is solid. Overall, it's a fantastic sidekick. My only complaint about it is the angle you have to hold it at to use the bit drivers. It's not ideal for tight places. I also don't like the difficulty level of closing the pliers. Everything else on the tool is perfect for when you're out in the field and you need to make some repairs. The hammer is especially useful and not a common accessory on most multi-tools. You don't have to worry about scratching or damaging it's finish, thanks to the solid tread design on the hammer. I would recommend this tool to anyone that wants that extra level of protection that you can only get from the MUT.
Its been just a couple weeks and I've already mounted and set zero-stop on riflescopes, disassembled several AR's and pistols, and adjusted other shooting components with this tool. I picked it up purely to have a compact solution when in the field, but between this and a breakdown cleaning rod, I may be able to seriously reduce the number of tools in my primary range bag.Only issues so far have been:-The Bit Extender has quite a grip on the small bits- needs to be a way to reduce the tension on the detent spring within the extender, because I'm chewing up the finish on the bits by using the pliers to get them out.-The front sight tool / box-end wrench should have probably been 1/2"- I'm not really sure who's rings they used that were 3/8", but the most common ... MoreIts been just a couple weeks and I've already mounted and set zero-stop on riflescopes, disassembled several AR's and pistols, and adjusted other shooting components with this tool. Quickly became the tool I can't live without. After starting with the Skeletool, that I still use, for dress occasions, I upgraded to the MUT and came to use it daily as a gas fitter/pool guy. A job in which the MUT was often, almost routinely, submerged and after 3 years hasn't seized, stiffened, or rusted. Tools I thought I wouldn't use, the scraper, saw, strap cutter, and punch, didn't take long to find usefulness (well maybe not the punch out side of popping pins outta door hinges). The scraper is perfect for deburring or shamferring plastic pipe, the saw marks measurements in any materiel including iron pipe, and the strap cutter tears off any wrapping while keeping what's beneath safe from a sharp blade, say plastic chemical containers or a pool liner under a ... MoreQuickly became the tool I can't live without. The onboard bit storage, up to 6 double ended bits for up to 12 driver tips almost makes carrying the additional bit sleeve superfluous. The design of swap out bits in itself is a great innovation. On top of that the knife is sharp, the wire cutters are great, the crimpers awesome, and the pliers grip tight. If there is a con though I'd say it's the button securing the bits on the sides of the tool. Over the years I've lost a few bits after the button got pushed while in a pocket.
There is absolutely one major problem with this tool and that is after using it to do everything humanly possible, and you leave it on the kitchen counter, your wife "puts it up" (#Southerner Problems) and you can't find this incredible tool. Need Leatherman Engineering Dept. to get on a ANTI-WIFE "put up" attachment ASAP!!!! I ain't real sure who collaborated the design/manufacturing of this multi-tool, but based on quality and performance, I'd guess this thing is made from Valyrian Steel struck on a forge by the Norse Thunder God's hammer. Seriously, If Nikola Tesla had lived long enough they'd probably have a attachment that'd power entire cities. This thing is awesome and if your job is anything to do with working on guns you may wanna get this thing. I hardly ever break down firearms, I can just see myself using the particularly specialized toolset. If you're looking for an awesome gift for someone, this will make your man break down in tears because he will cherish it forever, this thing just looks that cool. If I had to say something bad about it I'd say it's lacking some tools like scissors (I don't care about scissors on a multi tool), and a file. But that's okay, this thing doesn't need either of those things. If you want something with those folks then check the rest of lesthermans site, every user is different from the look they want from the tools/functionality they want out of their multi tool. As for quality this thing is top notch, when I got it out of the box it smelled like a new gun, they had put oil on the pivot points at the factory, this shows they really care about the tool when it leaves. It's really tight out of the factory so you'll have to play with it to loosen it up. Tl;Dr: excellent craftsmanship worth getting.
