Amazing tool

Let me start off by saying that this is one of the best tools. Period. Sure it doesn't have a lot of tools for the price point but think of it as the tools it does have, is crafted beautifully and strong with attention of detail. The knife is incredibly sharp and I've used it to cut through many things now; it hasn't shown signs of dulling yet. And like everyone else have said, it's easy to open with one hand but safe enough to keep it locked open without accidental closures. The unit also holds two bit pieces, one on the end for use and the other tucked away in the handle. I have not had one problem or worry of the other bit driver slipping out of the holder as some folks have said. I feel like it's snug in there tight. The pliers is strong too with the handles ... MoreLet me start off by saying that this is one of the best tools. Period. The pliers is strong too with the handles clicking in place to ensure a solid grip. No worries for the handles closing too easily on you, it's built like a tank with plenty of leverage for torque. Finally the carabiner bottle opener is built solid too. Some people may use it to clip on a belt but I find the belt clip plenty useful and long enough for my back pocket. Overall, it looks as great as it performs. What it lacks in quantity in tools, it definitely makes up in quality for what it has. Leatherman says it has a 25 year warranty on this multitool but I can see it lasting a lifetime.

After lusting for it for quite a while, I finally got the Skeletool CX. I've had it for over a month now, and don't regret it at all. It's light, easy to pocket, has the basics for handling most quick jobs, and is incredibly cool. I simply love it!The 154CM blade opens and closes easily with your right hand, is secured by a liner lock and remains sharp after a lot of work. The bit driver is fairly comfortable, as are the pliers. The carabiner/bottle opener is quite effective as well. From other reviews I was aware that the driver bit stored in the handle can fall off, so I tightened the retainer's grip by giving it a slight bend inwards. You can do this by taking the extra bit out and then pressing the side of the handle firmly and carefully against the corner ... MoreAfter lusting for it for quite a while, I finally got the Skeletool CX. If you do this properly the storage cavity will become just a little bit narrower, making it much more secure. The Canadian version comes with three dual edged driver bits - flat, Philips and Robertson (the square one). I need all three, which is a problem because the Skeletool will only carry two of them. Fortunately, I was able to trade with a friend my dual Philips bit for a combo flat-Philips bit. That one I always keep in the driver, while the dual Robertson stays in the storage compartment. If anything, I would recommend Leatherman to do something similar for all Skeletools sold in Canada.

Don't buy this for the Pliers
7 September 2020

An over-rated multi tool. Ergonomics on all Skeletools are outright horrible - when using the pliers the bit drives into the palm of the hand making any prolonged squeezing task uncomfortable. Pliers aren't any better than the Juice, and for a larger tool than the Juice, one would expect a more functional set of pliers. The 154CM blade is sweet and a significant jump over the standard 420HC steel used in the non-CX versions. A nice complement of minimalist tools for lightweight edc -- if you're willing to overlook the dreadful pliers.

Exactly What I needed
26 October 2020

After about a month of use, I love this tool. It has exactly what I needed and nothing I don't care about. Feels great and works fantastic. I had thought that I had read in one of the reviews somewhere that it would be great if the tool included a Robertson bit. In fact, the tool came with the two sized phillips, flat and #2 & #3 robertson bits as well! It can only hold two of the three bits at any one time but I am very happy with phillips and robertson "at the ready"! :)

Great EDC
13 December 2016

I use to carry a Kershaw Cryo 2 as my EDC, until I received my Skeletool CX. I really like the lighter load (5 oz). It isn't packed with a lot of tools but I have found that all I generally need on a daily basis is a knife (154 CM metal), phillipshead & slot screw drivers bits (2 bits with 4 heads are included) and I occasionally use the bottle opener. The fact that it has pliers and wire cutters is a bonus along with the pocket clip and clip on carabiner. I like being able to put the spare bit of my choice in the handle (provided you hav the bit kit, sold separately). It's not too big, It's also lightweight compared to many EDC tools. For my everyday use its pretty much perfect. It will take something special to replace it. Leatherman nailed this one...

Great Tool, Well Priced
10 October 2019

I had mine for a year before it was stolen, I’ll be replacing it shortly. I’m not sure people feel this is so expensive. Most knives with 154cm sell in this price range and get more expensive. With this you get so much more capability. This is a great EDC multitool if you’re the kind person that would carry a knife/light/tool combo. This is a bit bigger in the pocket than most knives but smaller than a knife + tool. I think this is the perfect tool for it’s intended purpose which to me is medium duty EDC. If to want a smaller option with more tools and less need for a knife the Juice is a good option. If you need heavier duty the wave/charge are good. This tool is like Goldie Locks for my EDC, just right.

Great multitool
29 May 2018

Researched many reviews before purchasing, and although a higher price than others, it was well worth it. Very high quality. I use a multitool more than Id have thought. With my pants the pocket clip is best, while cargo shorts I tend to use the belt loop clip. Knife is unexpectedly sharp right from the box. Im glad I watched reviews, because I wouldve bought it for its cool - factor look alone if I wouldve found it cheaper, but the reviews were so good with this product, I didnt hesitate to spend more instead of its cheaper competition. Glad I did.

Skeletool and sheath
25 December 2022

This is my second Skeletool and is the perfect every day carry knife for me.I was glad to see that a Kydex sheath was available, so I bought two of them; one for the new Skeletool and one for the knife I already own.The sheaths secure the knives well, and clip on my belt perfectly.

Strains a long-term relationship
28 January 2014

When I first met my Skeletool CX it was love at first sight, and I was smitten on our first date. However after a few months of field use, I have noticed that the tips of the pliers are misaligned by a mm or so. I was able to easily figure out that it was caused by my frequent activity of using the pliers to snap branches and 3cm pieces of kindling into small pieces to feed into my TLUD gasifying backpacking stove. The torsional stress of snapping the pieces of wood has misaligned the pliers permanently, which seems to indicate my skinny wrists are stronger than the tool withal. So while this minimalist design may be adequate for removing a pot lid from a hot stove, I would not want to have to find myself relying on it when I arrive at a backcountry shelter 20km ... MoreWhen I first met my Skeletool CX it was love at first sight, and I was smitten on our first date. Given that I also have to carry a serrated blade and scissors separately, I guess that this will mainly be the tool I carry to adjust my AT Ski bindings with a Pozi 3 driver in the modified 1/4" extension that I fabricated to fit the bit receiver in the Leatherman tools. For the backcountry trips to shelters, I guess I better go back to lugging the heavy Leatherman Wave around with me, and for an ultralight EDC Multi Tool it will be the 87Gram Ganzo G 104-S.
