My second Low key harmonica from Guitar works. Low F# has an awesome sound, did a Mambo right away just loved it. It's perfect for 2nd position blues. The responsiveness of the reeds and the tones are perfect. Hedged on buying it but couldn't be happier. Next is the Low F already have low E.

I have Lee Oskar and Hohner Marine Band harmonicas. I think the Lee Oskars are a better choice than the Hohner Marine Bands for beginners/intermediate players, such as myself, as it's easy to get a great tone and bend notes, right out of the box. One important point: Beginner/Intermediate players tend to produce excess saliva when playing, but with the Lee Oskar's plastic comb, the comb won't swell like it does on the Marine Band. Also, if you cup your hands just right, you can get a wide variety of very musical timbres on the Lee Oskars. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks, Sweetwater, for getting this harp out in a hurry. Used this that night for a gig, it was easy to play, easy to bend the notes I needed. Lee Oskar harps give me what I want and need - consistent quality and playability. NICE that Sweetwater sends them right to my door - PERFECT!

I've been playing harmonica now for about 3 years. I had Lee Oscars, but my instructor is using Horner Melody Makers, so I gave the Horner a try.I came back to the Lee Oscars. The others brass reed plate extended past the covers. This created a sore inside my bottom lip. Lee Oscars are more comfortable in my mouth. Also, I can control my air better with the Lee Oscars. I find the reeds are more responsive to bending.I like the chord letter printed on the end of each harp in straight harp as well as second position.When jamming or preforming, it's easier to find the right key when its printed on the end of the harp.I love playing the harmonica and carry one with me everywhere.Thanks to Musicians Friend for keeping the cost down so I can.

That being said, the Lee Oskar is markedly better in every way I've cared to measure.It has a bright, brassy sound to it that projects well, and it's significantly louder than the cheaper Hohner. It also works very consistently with no adjustments so far. I even checked it with a tuner and it's a tiny bit sharp (441+ like the ad says) but uniform. It also bends very easily. The holes in the comb are a bit larger and closer together, which makes pucker technique a little bit ... Even after repeated misguided "overblow" attempts none of my reeds have failed or gone out of tune enough that I've noticed.The reasons that I chose the Lee Oskar Major Diatonic are simple and I believe practical. I wanted a decent instrument that wouldn't put me in the poorhouse. I wanted to be able to maintain and repair the instrument to squeeze even more blood from the ol' money stone, and I was primarily interested in rock and blues. Given these factors, the rest makes sense.I've had this harmonica for about three weeks now, and I couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase. I don't have the experience to compare it to others in it's league, but I know that for my money I am very satisfied with my purchase. I would one hundred percent recommend this to anyone that has been curious enough to try the harp, and is looking to take it up a notch. Five stars.
OK. I'm just a beginner on the harmonica. I bought this just to have some fun and try something new. I was a professional bass player for many years. I heard good things about the Lee Oskar harmonicas and they are truly high quality. I have tried some other brands that were decent, but this is a cut above. It has a much richer sound than your bargain brand harmonicas and really doesn't cost much more.
Throughout a jam session as a drummer in my high school years. I once purchase my first Lee Oskar Major Diatonic Harp (still own) and was bit by the harps bug. After chucking that pocket pal for five bucks. I purchased Lee Oscar's major diatonic harmonica in the key of A. It's been something I've kept in my arsenal of self expressionism throughout the sound of music with instruments. I have been playing harmonicas since 1973. The first were Honer Marine Bands and Blues harps. Later I went to Special 20s. The problem was when they eventually failed I had no recourse but to replace them with new harps. I purchased my first Lee Oskar in 1991. I like the sound and how they hold up under hard playing. I also like the idea of replaceable reeds. As any harp I have used can get sticky, I keep 2 of each of the more common played keys available when on stage to avoid the dreaded missed note. I have all the diatonic keys, including the sharps and flats and some of the natural minor keys. I will continue to purchase the replacement reed sets as needed. They are a great workhorse for my style of playing.

Last year, I wanted to learn again to accompany guitar and vocals. I got another Blues Harp, thinking maybe it was just not the right time. Still hate it. Bought a bunch of cheaper harps. Hated them. Then I got a Lee Oskar in G. LOVED it! Felt good in my hand, and the reed plate thing isn't an issue. So I got an A also. Then, feeling perhaps I should keep experimenting I got a couple of Big Rivers, thinking that the plastic comb would be better than the Blue Harp's wooden one. It was better on my ... Mainly a guitarist and vocalist, but I've been playing 1st, 2nd and 3rd position harp for... well long enough. The harp can be put through it's paces and despite the plastic comb, I believe it still has a natural and consistent tone. It bends well and sits in the mix as expected - Either straight or send through a guitar Amp. They could be cheaper, but then they'd be cheaper made and you'd blow it into pieces. It stands against the Hohner competition well - Comparable volume but larger sound holes. Tongue needed a little re-training
