This is my first Lego ship and I am really impressed with the build. I would much rather see this as a stand alone set instead of a 3-in-1 but I have to take what I can get and I'm just happy Lego has released another Pirate ship. At first I didn't want to purchase this set bc I didn't think the brick-built sails looked as good as cloth. I don't have a ship with cloth sails to compare this to, but the brick built sails look good. Again, I would have rather had a new ship in the Pirate theme or even and expert Creator stand alone set bc although I really like the set, I do believe it is lacking in some aspects. The set only includes 2 cannons. There are four cannon ports. The set only includes 3 mini figures and a skeleton. That's why I say a stand alone set would have been better. There are extra pieces after building the ship that could've been more figures and 2 more cannons. Overall this is a fun set and a beauty to display. I hope Lego continues to release Pirate ships often in the future. If so I will be buying them.

Lego sets are always a wonderful gift idea. Keeps kids (and adults) busy for hours. Have easy to understand instructions, I especially like the fact that this one can be built and taken apart and rebuilt into something different. Good for the mind and hand coordination and a pleasant way to spend time when there is nothing going on for kids. A great family time also, building together.

I remember in the early 90's they're were two pirate ships, one with blue flags which I believe was the smaller one and the larger one has red. They both eventually ended up in my brother's and my endless bin of Legos. But that's want until about a year later when the super glue that my mom put them together with started to wear out. By far my favorite toy as a kid.

Extremely Detailed Lego Set
21 January 2021

First off, this set is truly special - it's absolutely a centerpiece set with tons of playable bits and accessories, hidden features, 360 degrees of interaction, just wonderful. Build-wise, there are 1,260 pieces so many smart and fun little touches, as well as some really fascinating techniques on display - this can be a challenging build for sure, though. My Lego experienced 9 year old nephew built this himself with some guidance in just a few days. There is so much detail and fun to putting this together. The thing that stood out to me the most though is just the ingenious way some of the sections are engineered. The amount of detail and creativity that went into this set is truly admirable. The product was beautiful after it was done it took a decent amount of time to build but, it is incredible it is extremely detailed and it also has a decent amount of play features that you can play with.

Thrilled with our Lego 3in1 Pirate Ship- the build and quality are exceptional. It took my 12 yr old granddaughter and myself a few weekends to create all 3 structures (but we also had help from cats and a dog with a long wagging tail lol). Challenging but not difficult-and in true Lego fashion sturdy and solid once built. While I am impressed with all of the details of the decorative pieces she absolutely fell in love with the little shark when he was built(big Shark Week/Sharknado fans) We really loved that the biggest part of the structures are constructed with the regular Lego bricks we are used to and not solid preformed pieces or sheets. Once built these creations kept us engaged for hours of swashbuckling entertainment, seriously good old fashioned play for all of us :)

My son stated to build it right away after getting it as a gift. So far it hasn’t been super complex and he’s able to do it on his own but I’m anticipating him needing some help down the line. He’s 8. I like that it has 3 different instructions but he picked the ship one to build since he thought others were not that complex. I did find it bit expensive and wish I found it ok deal or some discount. I’d say cost is the only con.

Shiver me timbers! I’ve found the treasure

I don’t know where to start! This is the first LEGO kit I’ve purchased for myself. After my own 4yr old has gotten into LEGO big time over the last 6 months and playing with him and building some of the kits, it reignited the same passion I had growing up when I played with LEGO. Having always wanted a pirate ship as a kid but my folks unable to afford them at the time I thought why not buy myself one now! This build was fantastic and the amount of pieces for the price was excellent. The finished ship is not small at all and really has presence! The built up sails look really good and I thought the shark is also really well done. Lots of other little gems like swords and guns, treasure and canons and even a skeleton crew member. I bought this set to have like an extra boat, I got it with a decent discount and sort of knew what I was going in. When I was waiting for delivery I started having doubts if the set will be good quality enough for me but once I started building it became better and better as it took shape.I made small modifications, removed the 'siren' from the front and replaced with a skeleton. Trying to get spare flags to replace the bricky black ones here. There is room for improvement and some creativity.Overall good set, can recommend just be sure to careful read about it and check photos, don't expect Pirates of Barracuda quality but don't discard it for its simplicity.Build process is rather easy, the brick sails are good, really good - the option to rotate is a great ... MoreI bought this set to have like an extra boat, I got it with a decent discount and sort of knew what I was going in. Two Sets for a Better Ship
19 November 2020

The ship build with the original set (which I did first) was challenging and interesting, but I wanted three masts (see why below), so I purchased the second set and figured out how to modify the first set. I didn't use the pirate skull/crossbones on the sail as my build is not a pirate ship :-)I bought the ship to display at a family reunion celebrating our ancestors immigration. However, it needed to be a similar replica to clipper ships, which were used around the 1860s for people emigrating from the United Kingdom and Ireland. These ships had three masts, whereas the pirate ship in this set only had two. I ended up adding the central portions of the second ship, which gave more realistic dimensions to the clipper ship (but still not the scale).I also filled ... MoreThe ship build with the original set (which I did first) was challenging and interesting, but I wanted three masts (see why below), so I purchased the second set and figured out how to modify the first set. These ships had three masts, whereas the pirate ship in this set only had two. I ended up adding the central portions of the second ship, which gave more realistic dimensions to the clipper ship (but still not the scale).I also filled in the top deck, and added in a hatch, as I didn't like the open deck of the original model (I understand this is done to allow easy access to the canons for play).I ended up with a lot of spare bricks! So I decided to make the Pirate Inn using what was left (I needed to add some more from my spare parts collection.) It took a little bit of creative thinking at times, but I got there in the end. I tend to modify most of the sets when I get them.I'm pleased with the overall look of both models. See photos. My only disappointment is that the instructions quite clearly show on pages 2, 5 and 7 that there are TWO barrels. However, there only ONE barrel in the bag (this was the same for the second set).In the parts list of the second booklet (for Pirate Island) Part No 6278989 (the barrel) is listed as 1x. So I'm very confused, LEGO, as to whether there should be 2 barrels in the set, or one? If there should be two barrels in each set, then I am missing 2x barrels in total.Apart from that disappointment, it's an enjoyable build, especially with the 3 in 1 aspect. I'm not that keen on the shark or birds, as they don't really seem to fit with the set (someone else commented they are a bit cartoonish, and I agree). However, that is minor. It would also be nice to have a female minifigure. However, these can be added from other sets.

I can't say how much I appreciate Lego bringing out so many Pirate based builds this year. As I was building these it took me back to my childhood wanting big Lego sets but not being able to afford it, and just having fun playing with the basic pirate mini-figs and letting my imagination do the rest. The three builds were really enjoyable with enough different techniques and variations that made each one unique. The Pirate ship was the most straight forward as it went through in bag order using most of the parts. The pub was a little less organised with parts spread across every bag, so basically just dump it all out and go searching. Skull Island mouth opening to the treasure cave was a very cool touch and a half-turn keeps it open so your mini-figs can either find the treasure or store their ill gotten gains. All in I would say these three sets have been the most fun builds I've done in a while and in terms of display, I'm super happy as they go along with my Pirates of Barracuda Bay set perfectly. The photo's show the 3 sets and I've started to do some detail work (some using the extra parts from sets), I especially love the switchable face on the striped shirt pirate as the fearful look lets you have a lot of fun (as you can see from the shark photo).
