I find this quite a great set. For the money, if lego went by normal standards then it would've been over $220! But TLNM set go different, so for just $170 you get over 1200 pieces which definitely makes it all worth it. Ok, on to the actual set. First off, I was impressed to see how detailed the inside of all of it was for you can't really see it. It includes a large main deck with fishing poles, some storage, and some tea. On the same level is a removable training room with a beautiful floor design, weapons, and a new piece like the one used for holding swords on a minifig but instead with a peg on the back the width around as a lightsaber pole. Above that, there is the steering level with a new printed map, clever use of garage pieces as a roof, and a nice ... MoreI find this quite a great set. You can removed the floor and training area to reveal Wu's bedroom, a bathroom, and lots of artifacts (aeroblade, Anacondrai helmet, vermillion armor, Wu's letter to misako, a photo from season one of the 5 ninja, as well as some other things). Wu's bedroom has LEGO's first official, functional bed in a lego set which is quite fun. As for minifigs, you get all 6 ninja as well as their weapons, and master Wu. You also get the Ultimate Weapon and some other weapons inside the ship, as well as some fish. As well, you get 2 of the trading cards that are minifig scale that are exclusive to the set. At the top of the ship are 3 large, beautiful sails that create the design of a dragon. All in all, this is a great set and I would recommend buying it in a heart beat. BYEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Well...this set is just beautiful. Since I saw the release of the set I knew I couldn’t not get get it and when I saw it in Smyths Toys for £74.99 it quickly became mine. There are so many bits about this I just love, for example the almost modular style in effect with the ability to remove levels easily to get to the bottom. I also really liked that all 6 ninjas and Master Wu was included in this set, I mean it was almost garunteed to happen though it doesn’t make it any less important. This is just a thing of beauty really. I do feel it has made such an improvement on the last Destiny’s Bounty (70738) which in a way was somewhat expected because Lego is pushing the boundaries with the pieces and creating more bigger and better sets than ever though as said ... MoreWell...this set is just beautiful. My only problem with this is the fragility of the fragon heads at the front and the lanterns along the side which means when I move it or pick it up the heads in particular have a tendency to fall off. Though that is Lego, it’s almost made to fall apart though as a self proclaimed AFOL I would of preferred it if they had a little more structure to reduce the chances of them breaking. These side notes are nothing more than a little constructive (pardon the pun) criticism which I guess is why we are able to review sets in order to expand the ever growing brand of Lego.So all in all I think this is probably one of the best sets released in 2017, a good piece count, nice amount of Minifigures and the toilet roll was a nice little addition too.

I have been a fan of the Ninjago line since its inception back in 2011, specifically with the winter release of the Rise of the Snakes sets. Upon hearing that they were releasing a full movie property in the style of the Lego Movie and the Lego Batman Movie, I was extremely hyped. As such, I set aside money as early as Christmas 2016 to afford most of the sets from this line. However, the set that I was most looking forward to purchasing was the Destiny's Bounty movie remake. While I do not own either of the original two sets, I have friends who do and as such have interacted enough with them to feel I am justified in declaring this to be my favorite of the three. Yet even without the context of the previous two iterations, this set can stand alone to any and all ... MoreI have been a fan of the Ninjago line since its inception back in 2011, specifically with the winter release of the Rise of the Snakes sets. However, the set that I was most looking forward to purchasing was the Destiny's Bounty movie remake. While I do not own either of the original two sets, I have friends who do and as such have interacted enough with them to feel I am justified in declaring this to be my favorite of the three. Yet even without the context of the previous two iterations, this set can stand alone to any and all fans of Lego. While this may sound slightly hyperbolic, this set is a testament to what Lego bricks can actually do; create a thrilling build with an end product worthy of being displayed, played with and modified to suit everyone's personal needs. Before I divulge into the intricacies of the set that truly make this a worthwhile display and play set, I will provide the too long, didn't read version here: If you are a serious Lego Collector who wants to have sets he or she can display, even without any desire for the Ninjago Movie line, I recommend this set. I recommend this, however, to anyone at least 14 years old; while the build is not too difficult, at parts it requires finesse and there is many cases of repetition that require one to be sure they follow the instructions carefully. With that said, I will now go into the Pros and Cons of the set, as well as the final Conclusion:PROSPerhaps the most obvious pros to this set is clear in the very price of the set; normally, a set with 2300 pieces would go for $230 USD; here, instead it goes for $170. This means the Price-Per-Part is close to 7 cents a brick. With that in mind, the value of the set for someone who wants a large and satisfying build is already met.I will also mention the build of the set was very enjoyable. While there is some symmetry to it, most of the time the design works on building a side up, then going back and doing the other side. This helps to keep the build from feeling monotonous and boring. At the same time, there are obvious cases of the build not having complete symmetry, which helps to also prevent the builder from making mistakes. I found that my favorite part to build was the hull of the ship, for the hull is actually brick built with only 2 specialized pieces used to help carry colors forward in the front of the ship.Once built, the ship has details for days. From the small planter boxes along the sides, to the lanterns, down to the inclusion of crates for the ship to hold, the set is bristling with features. I also will mention that Master Wu’s bedroom is one big love letter to fans of the original show: references include Wu’s letter to Misako, the Obsidian Syches from Shadow of Ronin, Aeroblades from Possession, Anacondrai Cultist Helmets from Chen’s Island, and many more. But beyond these simple details is something far greater: a fully finished aesthetic product. The set itself has many, many areas to place ninja, pose them and play. For young children, playing with the ninja and using the Dojo for little training fights is an obvious plus. However, for serious collectors the set also boasts massive play area and space for one to place figures, and many opportunities for creating action scenes. I personally love to pose ninja climbing the main sail, on the ladder to the upper deck, and gripping the top of each sail.I also like to mention the fact that you, as the buyer, receive all 6 ninja and Master Wu. This is a massive plus to the set, for, if one wanted to get each ninja individually in the cheapest fashion, they would need to buy the Spinjitzu Training, Water Strider, Green Ninja Mech Dragon, Manta Ray Bomber and Lightning Jet (The Jelly Sub set is hard to find, which is why I don’t count it here), which totals to over 180 USD. This set allows you to get all the ninja, with a piece count roughly similar to the sets mentioned above.CONSSuprinsgly, I can find very few cons to the set. One obvious one, however, is that, while the deck space is easy to pose, removing the section in the middle of the ship can be a pain. I found it easiest to remove the little string of flags and latners on one end, then push backwards on the black 2x6 plate while pinching the crates together. I personally found this issue to be solvable by changes the 2x6 black technic hole plate by a 2x4, but the mod is not big enough for me to include a picture. The other con I will mention is how some details tend to fall over when moved around. The little ‘popsicle stick colored’ garage pieces are not secured well, and will fall off if the ship is jostled around. The little planter boxes, if not pushed in hard, will also fall off. The little hanging sandbags on either side of the ship also have a tendacy to fall off. These are not cons worth denying the set, however, and as such I am brought to my conclusion.CONCLUSIONFor any fan of great LEGO products and a wonderful display piece, this set is worthwhile. It has one of the best values of any Lego Set released in the past 5 years, and provides the buyer with a fun display model, an engaging play model, and potential to configure and pose for days. If you can afford this set and have even a passing interest in it, I highly recommend buying it.

I received this set as a Christmas gift and have just finished it over the weekend. I don’t really know what to say other than... WOW! This set is absolutely AMAZING! I’ve been building Lego for only a year but I love the creativity of these sets. There are so many little things that were delightful discoveries as I went along, like the bathroom with the little gold sink taps & toilet flush button. The bed is also an amazing piece! It might sound crazy to get all excited over a bed and bathroom but the detail just blows me away!I kind of hate to say it but, as much as I adore my Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant modular which has a similar piece count, this set was even more of a delight to build. It might sound crazy to get all excited over a bed and bathroom but the detail just blows me away!I kind of hate to say it but, as much as I adore my Lego Creator Parisian Restaurant modular which has a similar piece count, this set was even more of a delight to build. The Parisian Restaurant was a bit more linear and straightforward as it’s a building. However, the curves, flourishes, and little details on the Ninjago Movie Destiny’s Bounty were a challenge which I greatly enjoyed. To put things in prospective a bit, I am visually impaired to the point that I cannot read print unless it’s enlarged. Even then it’s an inefficient, tedious process. However, the picture instructions Lego uses are fantastic and I always end up figuring them out in the end even if I have to take a break and come back later. I thank Lego for putting all their instructions online so I can download them to my iPad and view them as close up and zoom in and out as I need. With my eyesight, this set took me likely 20 or more hours to build, not counting breaks. I know I spent at least two full days from waking to sleeping on this. To put it in prospective, I worked on this set last Friday from about 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM with few breaks and that only got me through bags 8-12. Other sessions were in three or four hour blocks some afternoons and evenings between starting a new semester and getting into the routine of psychology and applied ethics coursework. I started the ship on January 1st or so and just finished it Saturday. I’ll say again, in the most emphatic way I can, IT WAS WORTH IT!Some people might have problems with the fact a bunch of plastic could cost so much money. However, I do not belong to that camp. This is something that can bring immeasurable enjoyment to kids and adults alike. Lego sets can be made in so many different ways. It’s better than spending $200 on some fancy toy for your kid that never changes and that goes out of style/becomes obsolete by next season. I see Lego bricks as timeless and clasic in a way that’s only achieved by a handful of toys. YOu can spend $160 eating out an expensive restaurant, a hotel room for a weekend getaway, or a day at the amusement park for a family if you’re lucky. You can’t even keep those outside of your memories and souvenirs you shell out more money for. Lego provides memories and is a tangible thing that lasts. That in mind this, and all other, lego sets I have purchased or received as gifts are ALWAYS worth the money.Thank you, Lego, for doing such great work and creating something beautiful that can so positively effect the lives of people of all ages.Sincerely,TSNote: I’ve attached a couple pictures of the completed product. My apologies if the angles are a bit funky as I took them myself.
Prior to the release of TLNM I had only a passing interest in the Ninjago line as neither of my children ever spoke of it much. However, the closer we got to the movie release, we started getting caught up on all the episodes via Netflix. It must have been hard for her to distinguish between our children (8, 5, and now 3 month old) or her 37 year old child er, husband.I generally only have a little time each night to build, so I'm on the one bag per night plan so this took me longer than I would have liked, because as I was working my way through the hull and building up, it was not easy to put down and go to bed.I proudly display this piece on my mantle and have received more than a few complements from people in that time (house guests, handyman, furniture movers, etc). The purchase of this led to the acquisition of several more TLNM sets - Ninjago City and a few mechs. Already looking forward to summer sets, and now that I'm all caught up on back episodes, I'm ready for new season of the show as well.
This set blew my already high expectations out of the water. The twin dragon heads are stunning and are adorned with gold whiskers. The deck is awesome and has far more than enough space to place minifigs. The dojo is awesome and has so many weapons for the ninja to train with as well as a nice scroll. The bridge is amazing and uses the garage door panels in tan which gives it a cool bamboo style look. The bedroom for Wu has a nice bed in which you can put him. The bedroom also has many references to Ninjago's previous years which is a nice touch for long-time fans. The bathroom is also very detailed and cool, including even more references. Overall, this set is by far one of the best Ninjago sets, nay one of the best LEGO sets ever made.
I'm usually a fan of exclusively, buildings, vehicles, and general city stuff. This time around I decided to expand my boundaries a bit more.I couldn't be happier with the result. Perhaps it is because it's something fresh on my palette, but this set was by far my favorite build so far, and the finished product is absolutely gorgeous. Although I'm not a huge fan of the Ninjago theme, this set transcends that. The designers did a fantastic job and truly created a fantastic product. The decision to not rely too heavily on large preformed pieces is one of my favorite aspects of the build. It makes it not only more enjoyable, but allows it to have a unique look when compared to the usual prefabricated ship pieces, and it is definitely something I believe should be followed upon in the design of any additional large vessels.I chose to slowly make my way through the build instead of rushing through in one sitting. Definitely a decision that made finishing it all the bit more satisfying. If you have even the slightest interest in this product, I would highly recommend it. The build was varied and offers some interesting techniques and I promise that you won't be disappointed with the final build.
I am one of the happy customers who did not buy the Destiny's Bounty for the Ninjago theme but for its absolutely stunning looks inside and out. This set is brimful of detail. The non-European style makes it also something special among Lego ship sets.Like in a real ship, there is plenty of interior space below deck. Together with the other two levels this offers surprisingly extensive interior space and all of it is full of accessories, furniture etc. Among the many things, the functional bed is one of my favourites. Also the toilet build, a utility often missing in Lego sets, is pretty neat. The most impressive exterior detail are in my opinion the two dragon heads which are entirely brick built with very creative use of pieces. The only aspect I did not like ... MoreI am one of the happy customers who did not buy the Destiny's Bounty for the Ninjago theme but for its absolutely stunning looks inside and out. The most impressive exterior detail are in my opinion the two dragon heads which are entirely brick built with very creative use of pieces. The only aspect I did not like was that the sails are fixed longside ship. That simply makes no sense for a ship with sails. However, it is very easy to change the connection so that the masts can be rotated freely. To do so, one has to merely replace the 2L/4L axles connecting the masts with the ship hull with 3L/4L bar elements. I had 2 left over 3L bars included in my set and one can borrow the 4L "laser" bar from the ultimate weapon as well. Therefore I did not need any additional elements not included in this set for this modification. With the last point easily modified there really isn't anything negative I could say about this set. It is a real beauty, a fun build, by far and large very sturdy and pretty sizable too.
The Lego Ninjago Movie Destiny's Bounty is an absolutely incredible set. To start, the regular retail price is a great value compared to the piece count. In terms of the actual set, it's a masterpiece. When completed the ship is pretty big, comparable in size to the Silent Mary and other Lego ships of old. It includes all of the ninja minifigures and Master Wu, as it should. They each come with their respective accessories, plus the standard extras. The detail and construction are superb. It consists of an almost entirely brick built hull, a lower section packed with details and accessories that pay homage to Ninjago. On top of the dojo section is the highest deck, which includes the steering wheel. There are so many little features and details packed in to every level of this ship. It's amazing.I can't recommend this set enough. If you're a Lego Ninjago fan, it's an absolute must-have. If you're a fan of ships in general, it's a must-have. And if you like detailed and well-crafted Lego sets, this is a must-have. Most all of the sets from the Lego Ninjago movie have been surprisingly great, and this is no exception.
This set is the pride of my Ninjago collection. Its the piece that people comment on the most when I show them my Ninjago display. The joy of this kit is in its sheer beauty. Everywhere you look you see something beautiful and detailed. The house plants, the observation deck, the training room, the bed that fits a minifigure. The toilet! The ship has a toilet! The beautiful lanterns and the cool sails. It just goes on and on, I could list dozens of features on this kit that make you go 'wow'The decks lift off so you can get into the Hull of the boat which features a toilet with a view of the weapons rack! A bedroom for Master Wu, with a letter rack, a photo frame with a picture of the Ninja in it..Over the top of Master Wu's bedroom is a removable deck where ... MoreThis set is the pride of my Ninjago collection. Then on top of that is another removable deck with the ship's wheel and the navergation tools etc. All under rollable bamboo shutters. There are great features like a couple of boxes with food, fish, chocolate and a fizzy drink.Up by the twin figureheads there are secret compartments for weapon stashes. Then you also have a cool winding capstan attached to dual anchors.I feel like I haven't fully done this justice, there is so much going on in this medel, I feel like I could wax lyrical about it all night. It was a joy to build, it fascinated me and had smiling with joy as I made it. I had to keep stopping during the build to play with the latest feature I had made, or just to smile at the beauty of the model. This is a big beast of a model, I've built a ninjago city and dock around it for the Ninjago Movie part of my display case. I have it swarming with Garmadon's shark army and I just love it.If I was only allowed to keep 1 model from all my Ninjago, it would be this model.
