Another fun toy ruined by the need for another device new enough to run the app, an app that won't run on a laptop. Purchased the starter set plus a bunch of sets to surprise the boys for Christmas only to find out that it requires an app on a new enough device to download the instructions. The lack of the instructions was not made clear on the box or the website. I'm typing this annoyed review while they are using my phone to build the castle set and in order to play with the sets together they have to connect Mario to my phone. What happened to allowing them to build independently. This is forcing parents to get devices for children and allow them on the internet, I trust my kids, I don't trust the creeps that use these apps to track or stalk children.

MARIO is NOT INCLUDED on this set...!!!I was blown away by this set! The details are amazing and it definitely became a family activity to play and build this set. The only con I can think of is that the instructions on the app are not very clear, the fortress wall wouldn't align and we had to take it apart and start from the bottom several times before I figured out what wasn't aligning.Overall fantastic product, 100% recommend for any Mario fan.

It is irresistible to love!Each character is cute!When you open the box, the bag divided for each part is Dosa'...Although it takes some time to make a customer character by connecting one by one, it isfun when finished, and also the nextTo the character...even the course blocks! My children absolutely love it hours of fun but also adults love it to honestly it's amazing fun and great family time aswell

My kids and I built this for the Super Mario Lego set and had a good time. The build isn't too complicated and is easily in the range of what a 7 year old can do, with a tiny bit of help. The castle looks great and the play features work pretty well. The kids have a great time playing with it.NOTE: you must have the separate $60 STARTER play set in order to have the electronic Mario toy (and start and end bar codes) to use with this set's character and play features.Definitely recommended.
I got this set for my grandson for his ninth birthday. He has roughly a million other pieces of LEGOs already, many that I have personally stepped on, but adding more is always a welcome gift. I am pretty sure that he did assemble this set, but its been four days since his birthday so now the pieces have been absorbed into the collective. He is a fan of the Mario sets (and anything video game related) so this LEGOs series was a good addition to the world of LEGOs. The only hard part for Grandmas is figuring out which sets he already has. They all look alike to me, but he can tell me, in great detail, what the special features (powers) of each are.

Makes a great first level boss arrangement, the Baby Bowser figure from the Starter Course works really well on here, especially after you've defeated the Koopa. The castle itself looks great built and there are a lot of elements that you can separate out and use to build your own design course.I wasn't particularly keen on the layout of this kit as is, the hinged plates just look ugly and it felt like a way to keep the piece count and therefore the price down. I would have rather paid a little bit more and had clean, straight lines. This was a great addition to my son's Lego collection. We loved the cross branding with his second favorite, Mario from Nintendo. The scanning ability is definitely high tech. He had to reinstall the app to get the character to recognize the bar code. Little ones might need some assistance.
My son loves these toys from Lego. These are a great set to go with the rest of the Mario legos. So we'll made. They were a great price on sale. Love myer sales. I am so Glad I came across them. Since we are in lockdown, I ordered online and delivery was quick, just a few days, with absolutely no problems. Love ordering from myer, never have a problem.
These mario lego sets are super fun interactive and just good wholesome fun!The only problem is you just get one set! LolzThier that good! This one in particular has loads of play features! Does require the starter set unfortunately mario don't come with this.
