This X-Wing is almost exactly the same as Poe's X-Wing, except for the colour scheme and a new play feature. However, I think it's worth owning both because: 1. Can you have too many X-Wings? 2. It comes with an amazing Lor San Tekka minifigure. The build is relatively easy and interesting. The only repetitive parts are the wings which aren't quite movie accurate. It's a shame Lego didn't try to fix that flaw in this set. The vaporator included will fall over like it does when the blast Kylo Ren freezes finally hits it, startling all the stormtroopers in the vicinity. Another play feature is that the engine of the X-Wing will come out, mimicking it being damaged as in the film. The minifigures are great. However it would have been nice if Lor could have come with the map piece he gives to Poe. It's one of the only Lor San Tekka figures available so is a must have. Poe is wearing his famous jacket rather than his flight suit, so is quite different to the minifigure included in Poe's X-Wing. BB-8 is adorable in Lego form. Finally there's the flametrooper who has a very accurate helmet and is overall very detailed. This is a great Force Awakens set to have and an awesome X-Wing. The only drawback is the price, but it is still a good set and a fun build.

First off, the good. This is a good looking set, which is well-built and sturdy. Compared to the previous generation of minifig-scale x-wing (9493), it is sleeker-looking, and slightly larger. The larger engine intakes of this model look good. The wing mechanism works similarly (if it ain't broke...), although it is now controlled from the top of the fuselage, which doesn't look as good as on the back. The cockpit piece is also an improvement. The minifigs with this set are good, and the addition of the vaporator is a nice touch as it provides some quite rare ground detail. Some minor issues: The rear of the engines feels more wobbly than it did with 9493, due to the way the technic beams seem put on as an afterthought. The main guns also don't look as good as they did previously, with missing detail at the front. I don't particularly like the way the spring-loaded missiles poke out at the back, but I appreciate that they do provide a good play feature, and that they can just be taken out. It is a shame that the wings do not work as they do in-universe. They are supposed to overlap and fit snugly with the top flush behind the bottom. These don't do that at all, and the result looks a bit awkward. I realise that doing it accurately would have presented a challenge to the wing stability, but I'm sure it could have been done. My suspicion is that it would have required a change in the wing opening mechanism, which was avoided by the designer.None of those are major issues, so I still do like like set and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it except for one thing. The price.Fundamentally, this is the same set as Poe's X-wing, but with a different colour scheme, different minifigs, and a different minor build. Why then, does it cost £15 more? This is especially bizarre when considering that, in the US, the sets are the same price. If anything, this set would have been easier and cheaper to develop (since the design and development had largely already been done for 75102). I can understand why Lego wouldn't wish to undercut 75102, but for this to be £15 more expensive (now that we've had the promised price increase for certain sets) is ridiculous. I don't feel that the pricing of £70 for 75102 is especially good itself either, when compared to 9493, but I digress.I'd be very interested to hear a justification for the price of this set in the UK, because from my perspective I can't see it. It is a good set and I'd recommend getting it, but only at a discount. The full RRP is just too much.

Fantastic set but mine arrived badly damaged. The exterior walmart box was fine but the lego set inside was destroyed, so that means it was SHIPPED TO ME KNOWING IT WAS BADLY DAMAGED. I got a lego set that is devalued but paid full price. How can someone in logistics ship me a box in that condition !!! what a huge waste of time returning this set and ordering another, specially as walmart does not carry in B.C stores. The set 5 out of 5 stars but the retailer (walmart) 1 of 5 stars. next time i willorder collector sets directly from manufacturer. Walmart is. Not letting me put where I would radther buy from.

This X-Wing is a very detailed fighter with lifting wings, opening of cockpit, missiles that shoot and 4 amazing mini figures. My favourite part if the x-wing has to be the engine details at the back. They are bright and detailed - what the x-wing is in the movies. The only con I have is the wing can occasionally come off but is easily fixable. Get this Jedi Fighter and rule the galaxy. 3 words to sum it up is, Detailed. Big. Outstanding. This is very good and interesting - great addition to all Star Wars collectors. 9/10.
I don't have the Poe's X-Wing LEGO set, so I can't compare this set to that one. I also don't have the older LEGO X-Wing set that was released (I bought it but needed the money for something else, so I took it back).I have, however, owned many LEGO sets over the years, including the most recent 2015 Imperial Walker (AT-AT) set. What I will say is that this is my favorite LEGO Star Wars set released so far and, in my opinion, also possibly one of the best. (It also doesn't hurt that the X-Wing is my favorite sci-fi fighter craft, and blue is my favorite color. So win-win!)I've seen a criticism of the other X-Wing set that a lot of the part count is in the internals. And, you know what, I'm actually okay with that. So win-win!)I've seen a criticism of the other X-Wing set that a lot of the part count is in the internals. And, you know what, I'm actually okay with that. It gives this X-Wing great heft and, with the possible exception of the engines and blaster cannons (which all feel a little bit loose and move a bit too easily), this set feels extremely sturdy and durable. For younger LEGO fans and people who want to play with their sets, this is definitely a good thing -- it really doesn't feel like anything is going to fall apart without a LOT of abuse. Compare this to the 2015 AT-AT set, for example, which as great and impressive as it looks, tends to wobble and feels quite fragile. The way LEGO designed the nose of the craft to fit together is absolutely genius, as is the system that allows you to open and close the foils by twisting a black knob on the top of the X-Wing's body. The design of this set is very clever, yet despite how clever it is the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.I'm also a little disappointed that it comes with another Poe Dameron and BB-8 minifigure instead of some other pilot and a different astromech droid -- we already have Poe's X-Wing which comes with Poe and BB-8, so why does the regular 'Resistance X-Wing' *also* have to come with Poe and BB-8? Well, I know why; it's because this set takes place at the beginning of the movie. But frankly, Lor San Tekka, the New Order Flametrooper, and this Poe Dameron minifig, without his flight suit, could have come as part of a different Jakku set instead, allowing us the opportunity to get some more Resistance pilots for our set. Finally, and this is really the only truly negative aspect in my opinion, $80 definitely feels a tad too expensive for this set. The last original trilogy X-Wing was $60, and I'm pretty sure I saw Poe's X-Wing being sold for $70 at some point at the end of last year. I think $65-$70 would be a fairer price for both this and the Poe's X-Wing sets.
I own Poe's other X-wing so this was a build I was familiar with and fortunately I managed to pick it up at a reduced price thanks to the shop having a deal on LEGO over xmas. Definitely worth owning both resistance X-wings and I plan to display this one along side Poe's orange/black version with a different pilot as per the line up at the resistance base in the film.Plus point:The ship itself is a real piece of work and well worth the money I paid for it.The mini figures with the set are excellent and spot on for the set.The build is really nice and only repetitive when building the wings.Minus points:The wings, they have been mentioned in other reviews on both this and Poe's black/orange ship. I hope that maybe LEGO might redesign them and publish the modification on line for owners to work on.BB-8, perhaps LEGO might produce a few different BB- units to represent the different astromechs on other pilots ships. The engine mounts are really delicate and prone to come off easily (as with Poe's black/orange version). All that said it's a good take on the now classic design and I'm really happy with it, my only issue is I now have to buy a new glass cabinet to display my rapidly expanding collection.Well done LEGO, keep them coming.
...even if I really enjoyed building this set, being a big Star Wars and Lego fan, I cannot avoid to notice a couple of design flaws that, in my very humble opinion, don't pay justice to an otherwise very good build. Both of them are related to the stands, or the lack of them. The forward central foot is nice but it doesn't disappear inside the x-wing body. So what's the point in making it foldable? In the back there's no stands/feet whatsoever, and this make the x-wing stay in a weird way when on a flat surface.Let alone if you open the wings in flight position, evern worse.Maybe all of this is related to being relevant to the movie? I loved this set! I got Poe's orange and black one for Christmas (another great build) and was really excited when LEGO announced his one. Now I could put he other Resistance pilot into this blue one!I love how we get a flame trooper in this set with a flame element feature so he can actually shoot flames. It's a great addition because of the falling moisture vaporator with flames coming from it. I also enjoyed Poe and Lor San Tekka. They both have great prints and pretty rare unless LEGO decides to make more sets with those two figures. The X-wing itself is different from the orange and black one build-wise but follows the same basic design. And best of all... it's blue! The color of the Light Side of the Force!!A great build and totally worth the money.
I own the original x-wing from set 7140 and the second generation one from set 6212. I never bought set 9493 so I can't compare to that one, but this one is bigger than my old sets. The wing mechanism is alright. It works well and works better than 7140 but it's so sudden and jerky that I like the way it opened in set 6212, even if that way was a lot slower. I also don't understand why the back portion of the ship on this new model can disconnect so easily. Maybe because it gets damaged there in the movie? I don't know. Also, there's supposed to be a control stick in the cockpit but it's just a skeleton leg sitting on a stud. put the actual joysick/antenna piece, come up with a new piece, or don't bother! My biggest complaint about the set is the pilot's actual front visibility. The targeting computer completely blocks his view outside the ship. The only picture lego has with the pilot actually inside the ship is taken at an angle where you can't notice it but if you look at the ship head on all you see is the top of the pilot's helmet.I've been complaining a lot but I really am glad this one came out because I wanted the new x-wing from the movie but didn't want the black one. I'm also extra glad that the set is gray and not white. From the pictures the build itself looks almost identical to the black one so I think the decision on which one to buy would come down to color preference and the extra minifigs and accesories for playability.
