This set was just an awesome build and soooo worth the money. This took me about 5 hours or so but I did have a mishap that I had to fix, which brings me to the build experience and..omwww! First of all you have to be a good builder and this shouldn’t be your first set, there was some advanced building techniques and it does get challenging but that why I bought it, I wanted a set to challenge my building skills and this was a good pick, but yeah so if you’re not a good builder I don’t really recommend this but even if you’re not and after some time you get it finished you will NOT be disappointed by the finished product. The build is really sturdy, but don’t put it on a flimsy table because as like any other talk thing it will fall over when bump it. When pulling the Spaceship apart I suggest taking it at the connection at the last part and take it at the bottom part and pull it sideways, that way it will pull out the clips and make it easy to take it off. Don’t get me started on the size, it is 3feet tall and just wow, make sure you have space for it, right now I have it on the 3 included stands on my bed-rack and it doesn’t move at all which is good but it looks fricken awesome too. If you have a slim space where it can stand up straight that would be good too and it would help show off the height of this thing. Overall this is an amazing amazing set and if you are a fan of space, you want a great displace piece, and don’t want to spend $200 then this, like this is crazyy. I know on the pictures you look at it and you’re just like wowwww this is big, but you really don’t realize the size of this, I stared at this thing for a week looking at the size..just being amazing. So yeah an outstanding set and an outstanding building experience for the ones who want to be challenged and an incredible display piece. 50/10

Building stage 1 of the rocket was a bit of a challenge as everything is flimsy and can easily fall apart, but ends up solid in the end. After a few failures with things falling apart, I learned to be a little bit more delicate understanding this. Just take some extra care and the build is fine. There are some really interesting techniques used and I feel like I learned some things along the way. There are some long vertical sections in building stage 1 of the rocket where I could not get them to line up and click in in the middle without removing some of the rounded 2x3 pieces. It feels like they should have been put on before all of the larger 2x3 rounded piece sections were done. It was done that way during building stage 2 of the rocket and was much better and ... I have had a couple of occasions where trying to separate the lower section has resulted in the top sections flying off and crashing to the ground. It is much more of a display piece but still awesome none the less. The value is really great as you get quite a bit for the money.

My dad purchased this set when we visited the Glasgow Lego shop, it took some convincing as my dad hadnt purchased a toy probably since I was a child (and especially at that price point) however it had been something he had wanted for a long time and I said we could half in together and build it. Sadly my dad wasn't accustomed to Lego and couldn't complete the build. I took over for him and took apart his build and found the flaws that were hindering him. He didn't have much interest in continuing but enjoyed watching myself continue it. It is an incredibly gratifying build as with each completed section a very large rocket that looks so well detailed becomes unveiled. It sits on top of our fire place now.

This set has it all. For the lower stages there is an internal framework, which provides the incomprehensible 'what am I building here' element of the build, which very quickly becomes a hugely satisfying exercise as you build out from the internal core using some very clever and varied building techniques to create the outer rocket body. For the upper stage it's more of a direct build, but quite quick to complete which in itself is very satisfying. What is more, the scale of the complete model is very impressive. When displayed horizontally the scale doesn't seem quite as obvious somehow, but when displayed vertically, it is clear how large this model is. Honestly, I just don't know how Lego combined all of these elements so perfectly. Incredible set. Get it while you can!
I have always been a space fan and keen Lego builder so buying this set was a no-brainer! It has over 1900 pieces, so it took a while to assemble. The rocket can be divided into 3 parts; just like the real thing. It also comes with a lunar lander landscape on the moon. The set comes with three identical microfigures of the three astronauts; Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins & Buzz Aldrin. Finally there is the Columbia pod, which has landed into the ocean, along with circular orange pieces to symbolise the inflatables. The set is very accurate to the actual rocket, with the only difference I noticed being the fact that the top part of the rocket splits into 2 halves instead of 4 quarters.Overall, it is a great build and I definetally recommend it.
I was excited to get this kit and put a lot of effort into it. It is impressive but there are some issues you need to be aware of. First, some of the "fit" is not that great. There are a number of areas where pieces are either too tight or too loose. Second, and by far the worst is the lack of color-fastness of the bricks, specifically white. I noticed immediately the white brocks had a dirty, dull, or yellowish appearance. I was surprised at this knowing Lego quality but thought it was meant to be that way. Over time though, with the model being kept completely out of direct and even indirect sun, the model has become unattractively yellowed, and I don't even want to buy a case for it now. It's almost ugly. I am currently in a conversation with Lego about it and they claim I am responsible for the damage and are directing me to their site to buy my own replacement bricks. So this is a great model but if the white color is off when you buy it - take it back immediately. This is a known problem (search on it) and Lego has a canned response (excuse) to give you.
I’ve built at least 15 or 20 of the adult and TECHNIC kits but I finally had to give up and throw this one back in the box to keep my sanity. Building the first stage is a nightmare, first just trying to keep the top & bottom halves together, and then while you attempt to attach the 11 inch long sides that have so few points of connection that when you finally get the top part connected the bottom comes unconnected. Connect the bottom back and now the top disconnects!I’ve seen a few others point out this and other problems with this stage and I’ve read Lego’s comments suggesting to “make sure all the pieces are tightly pressed together” which is almost insulting, like those builders didn’t think to do that? I don’t know, maybe it gets better once you are past this ... I don’t know, maybe it gets better once you are past this point, but if you can’t complete this then you can’t move on anyway.I have enjoyed building Lego kits in the past and expect to enjoy others in the future, it’s normally relaxing and therapeutic, but I find this particular kit to be just the opposite. It’s frustrating, exasperating and just plain aggravating. I can’t believe so many others gave this 5 stars, as far as I can tell if I ever expect this model to be completed and able to be displayed it will need to be glued.
This set is just fabThe discovery shuttle is amazing but this one surpasses it. I bought this for myself but ended up having help in the form of my very young boy. There is lots that he was able to do despite being very young. That said there are parts that require finesse and dexterity, or the piece will disintegrate. That's not a complaint it's just what the build is.There isn't too much repetition in the build keeping it interesting. It's also cool how each section is built separately so it's easy to see progress. There are a few tiny niggles, but they are small:The escape rocket tower is not really detachable. The command module thruster is separated from the module by a space to allow the fearing to fit. It bothers me a little. The command module does not easily come out of the fearing, the whole piece is prone to disintegration. The lander never stays on top of the final stage inside the fearing, it always falls off.The top of the command module is all white, and needs to be swapped out with a second part. Would be nice if it was simply covered in a fearing and looked correct.once the fearing was removed. These are tiny niggles though, and quite nit picky.Huge value for money in this both in the final build and how realistic it looks, the learning experi nice from seeing very creative building techniques and the block count which is quite high for the price. Not just the best of the NASA space series, but one of the best Lego models ever.
Having a deep interest in space exploration since I was a child I was pleased to purchase this Lego model of the mighty Saturn V rocket which was famously used for the Apollo moon missions, the US & USSR space meeting and the Skylab space program. This model is exquisitely detailed throughout and was an absolute joy to build. The 1st Stage took the majority of the time and exhibits pure construction genius in the build techniques used!I was very impressed with the overall construction process from beginning to end and standing a metre tall the construction was done in such a way that the rocket exhibits excellent strength and rigidity.I particularly liked the markings on the rocket which included pre-printed pieces instead of the now common stickers that you ... However, all was not lost as Lego’s customer services employ an excellent service to replace missing pieces. My missing part is now on order which was ordered quickly and with no fuss.I recommend this fantastic Lego model to anyone regardless of the genre!
This was, without doubt, the finest model we’ve ever built. And we’ve just finished the Huge Lego Imperial Star Destroyer (75252).One thing afflicts many of the larger Lego builds, and that’s their tendency to self-destruct rather too easily. The two designers of this model, however, took a long time to design it, and in that process ensured it was both astonishingly easy to resurrect, should the worst befall it, and remarkably resilient in daily use. We’re no strangers to the larger Lego builds and it was not without some trepidation that we started on this one, but the internal structure has been exquisitely crafted and exceptionally well designed, and the solidity of the model was extraordinarily impressive. It’s mighty impressive that not only does the model ... We’re both familiar with the craft in real life, so that helped inform our building. But unlike just about every other large Lego model we’ve built, we can find no flaw with this one.Well done, Valérie and Felix, and may you produce many more models as expertly and beautifully crafted as this one.
