Great architecture set, goes well with the whitehouse, similar size. Love how you can remove the dome to see the rotunda with statues inside! Only issue was there were 2 missing round 1x1s for the very final stage. Thankfully I had 2 of those, otherwise would have been a bit annoying. Recommend to anyone into the architecture theme!

The US Capitol Building model was a surprisingly fun build. I expected there to be many repetitive steps in it like with the White House or the Louvre, but everything was just a little bit different and kept a fun amount of excitement as you saw how the designers executed the details. The really fun surprise was the detachable dome that reveals the rotunda below with the statues inside!Despite the large number of pieces, the set was a relative quick build. The base has a lot of details when it comes to the lawn, sidewalks, and flooring of the rotunda, but after that, the set is a relatively easy and exciting build. I own the entire Architecture series and this has quickly become a showstopper set among them all.

Got this for Christmas, had been looking at these architects sets for some time & was really pleased to get this one as a present. This is a large model with over 1000 pieces, inside the box are a number of plastic bags with the bricks, I transfered each bag to a zip lock bag to make sorting easier, I also used a plastic tray to sort out all the small pieces, of which there are a lot. The provided book gives great history of the building & great for the build with its detailed step by step guide.I decided to build this in stages to make the build last longer & to get the most from it. I used 3.6 volt LEDs you can see in the picture the result.

I've been gifting my daughter most of the architecture sets for a few years now - and the US Capitol is definitely one of the best to date. It has a fantastic presence on the shelf and the interior details are a great touch. She has built the bulk of the kits herself (8-10 years old) and this is the first set she had a little trouble getting some sections to fit smoothly. The base is so long, if its not perfectly flat, some of the roof section can be hard to align. It doesn't detract from the build, but it does require a little finesse and patience. Overall its on of the best designs and best looking architecture sets to date and a great value considering its size vs. price.
I received this set as a gift. It wasn’t one I’d considered getting, and was pleasantly surprised to discover just how detailed the lovely instruction manual is, and by the fact the bags aren’t numbered (There’s a certain pleasure from having to sort the bags before building, rather than not needing to think about where to begin.)!It’s a fiddly build with all the one by ones, but the detail in this piece is so worth it. It’s a stunning display piece, and the tiny mini-minifig statues are a large lovely touch.I’m not a particularly speedy builder but had finished it in under two and a half hours. I have to admit, I was surprised to see how much the set cost. Lovely as it is, had it not been bought for me I’m not sure I’d have spent quite so much to acquire it for ... I live in Alexandria, VA, so this was a must have. It was my first "advanced" or expert build and my return to Legos when I last actively played with them in the mid to late 1970s and helping the kids in the late 90s. I was lucky to find at local Barnes and Nobles, though set is retired. Straightforward, easy build if you follow the directions carefully. Lots of small pieces and the final build has a "footprint" of maybe 18L"x7W"x6H". Great for the bookshelf! After this I spent over $1700 on Lego.com. It's addictive to say the least.
The final appearance is breath taking. The building can be viewed from three sides. The west side of the building is cut off, but there is a tiny cross section to make up for it. The challenging part of the build is it is repetitive because you're building from the ground up. There is a good portion of the building that uses the same three white pieces. I feel there was a missed opportunity to incorporate the history and timeline of the construction in the instructions of building the set.The real excitement and fun came from the stairs, the three entrances on the east side, the roof, and of course the dome. The dome is simplified, but instantly recognizable. It looks great alone detached from the set. It's my favourite out of the Lego Architecture sets I've ... MoreThe final appearance is breath taking. I brought this Lego today because I interesting of building these incredible detail building for my bedroom. The look of this building look very detail, the colours are nice eg white look very clean and shiny. However the price was a little bit too high for this sort of Lego but I brought it because it suits the best in my house. The building experience was nice and easy as some people might find it difficult to build but me, I very experienced of building those things. Anyway you can't really do much on this building because the only thing you can do is take the cone off. At my final conclusion, I would recommend you buy this Lego for display or collection. But if you want it for play about then this building is no good.
Bought this and the Guggenheim at the same time and about 5h later both are done. Yes Im having a lot of fun but the sets are too quickly finished and I want another set to build... then what to do?The Capital was fun and varied enough not to get tedious.Looks good but need some lights, I might experiment with some LED but it would be great to have standardized LEDs built in by LEGO by default and up to the customer to just get a power source and hook one or many Architect sets to another if you put them all on a shelf.Would look much better with lights.I liked this semi large set more than I suspected, the sky line looks pretty but seems very easy to build (I say w/o trying one yet). Do more of these mini-sized buildings but I want them more or less in the ... MoreBought this and the Guggenheim at the same time and about 5h later both are done. Wow! What a great build! I had done the NY City Architecture build in the past and found it to be rather stressful for various reasons, so I had concerns going into building the US Capitol Building. Those concerns quickly diminished as I started building this kit. It was just a fun experience from beginning to end.My one complaint -- that the bags for the Architecture kits are not numbered -- was NEVER really a factor with this build since several of the bags in this kit only contain one type of brick, which made finding parts very quick and easy. The build flowed very logically from beginning to end, and I know I sound like a broken record, but it was just FUN!!!I love the attention that went into this kit! There are interior details that you cannot really see, but I thought it was amazing that they were included in the kit anyway. I wish I had taken photos throughout the build process so I could show the rotunda, but I had SO MUCH FUN that I didn't want to stop!Simply put, this is a great kit for anyone looking to build one of the Architecture sets. The finished result is AMAZING, and the build really is a pleasurable experience! Well done Lego!!!--As a side note: I need to mention the manual. It is very beautifully done. I was impressed with the Lego Ideas Saturn V manual, but the manual for the Capitol Building really is a sight to see. It is beautifully printed, and just contributes to the overall pleasure of the experience.
