LEGO City 60052 Cargo Train

I just received this for Christmas and I am very pleased with this set. This is my first LEGO train and actually my first set I've gotten power functions in. The build wasn't very long however it was fun. It took me 2-3 hours to build it though with me taking breaks in between.Many of the builds were great. I especially liked the crane design how it did go on airplane landing gear with train wheels. Very clever building technique. The office was plain, simple, and not much detail however I cannot complain due to this set being for young children but it would have been better for just a little more detail to the office. The forklift was a great and sturdy build and I do enjoy to play with it especially when taking the cargo off the train/truck. Some of the wiring was hard to get through but me and my dad figured it out. The other cars are great especially the one with the cow and the farmer, that one got me the most. The power functions are very interesting in this set. Absolutely had fun with this set. This was the third Lego train that I've acquired. The build is pretty straightforward and offers no surprises. The locomotive is a good-looking one, and quite realistic.The train comes with three cars/wagons and there's also a crane and a flatbed truck included in the set. The crane is, in my opinion, better than in the previous cargo train set, because it moves more realistically. Also, there's an office right under the crane, which you need for all the paperwork that comes with loading and offloading cargo.My favorite car/wagon of the three included in the set is probably the one that has the big cable drums on it. The cattle car/wagon looks a bit funny with no proper walls or roof on it (the cow would probably jump off the train if this was the real world) ... MoreThis was the third Lego train that I've acquired. Why the wheelbarrow and the forklift? Isn't the forklift needed elsewhere (i.e. near the crane)?I, too, had some trouble with the battery box that is included in the set and had to fiddle with the batteries for some time before the train started to work. Also, the train motor sounds a bit funny and wobbly when compared to the other trains I have. And for some reason, the cattle wagon tends to break off from the train, especially when placed last.Otherwise, a very nice set that looks good with the other trains I have.

I did a bit of research comparing this set to the high speed passenger train and the heavy hall train which are currently readily available at different stores and he's what I came up with. The heavy haul train has more straight train track pieces compared to the other two as well as more pieces but it's also the most expensive (200-250). The passenger train looks great but with the small amount of track , small selection of figures and the power functions motor being housed in One of the cars the playability is reduced to two cars. This cargo train gives you a locomotive which houses the power functions motor and receiver. The 3 cars are of varying lengths and Give a good amount of playability. The only part that is gentle is the crane especially the part that rolls across the top. I'd recommend this set to anyone buying it at full price $200 but especially if you can get it for less it's a no brainer.
