Awesome Set!

First, I agree with other reviews that there should be instructions for all of the pictured builds AND the bags should numbered in order for use with the builds.Besides that, THIS IS AN AWESOME SET!!!!There is a wonderful diversity of pieces, many of the colors are rarely featured (or minimally featured) in other Creator sets, and there are sooooooooo many ways to utilize these pieces besides creating space related builds. If you are looking to round out your Lego collection with fun colors or if you’d just like a great set of pieces to free-build with, then this set is for you!

This set has plenty of colourful bricks. For most sets in the range, half the pieces are used for the models in the instructions, leaving half for the first of your own models. In this set there are just 2 instruction booklets but another 3 bags with no more instructions. They tease about there being something online but there is no more there either. Had it been online, that would not have been enough for me; as a set for younger children it should all be in the paper instructions as screen-time is rationed. What there should be is just one more booklet with enough views of the models suggested for bags 3, 4 and 5 for builders of all ages to be able to work out how to build them using the techniques they learned with bags 1&2. It doesn't necessarily need the same level of detailed instructions but just enough encouragement to apply the learning and succeed in making them. As it is, the challenge may test an adult as one cannot see the supporting bricks behind the scenes. The extra-view pictures would be more in line with the old ideas books (222, 7777) that got us to work out how it was done, embedding the learning and the elation of success.A second point is the colours. This set is Space-themed but has no bricks in "Bright Blue", which is the LEGO Classic Space colour. For that I will have to look to the Galaxy Explorer 10497. Apart from that, I did like the colours of the Earth model, especially the "Bright Green", and the light azur was appropriate for the sea. The bright bluish green, medium lilac, gold, bright reddish violet, vibrant coral and vibrant yellow brick colours are also appreciated, with more of those here than in other sets. I was also pleased with the 8 turntables. The overall question for the LEGO hobby is the balance between many differently coloured bricks in the Classic theme and how to make the transition towards having enough bricks in the same colour to build more-realistic representations of real-world items as My Own Creations. Another reason to buy Classic sets is that the average brick price is a lot less than buying from Bricks and Pieces, especially for the standard 2x4 brick. As an experienced LEGO builder and Adult Fan Of LEGO, I deliberately bought a range of classic sets to explore a wide range of colours in a variety of pieces that were not in the other sets I usually buy. This set is great for casual fun building as a break from the more-serious scale modelling and technical modelling. The box is able to store extra bricks but is not as useful in shape as the trays of 11019 or 11020, or especially the sorting tray of 11021. It tends to favour vertical orientation once opened. Classic LEGO has always been the foundation supporting other themes and this set is one of a range of sets that does it very well, though some other sets are a bit better. For the instructions reason above I would rather recommend other Classic sets.

The packaging emphasizes vehicles, but don't be fooled- a fair part of the generous piece count is given to small decorative pieces that would be great for building whimsical alien characters (expect a generous helping of frogs, teeth, magnifying glasses, arms, etc). The remainder is a series of large blocks in a wide palette of bright colors. It might be best combined with other sets if you need more pieces in the middle size range, but overall, lots of fun building options. Examples (including the purple robot in secret "extra bag" instructions from LEGO.build/BI-BV) showcase the nice effects possible from simple basic shapes.

Missing booklets - not an accident
18 January 2023

This set contains bags of blocks with numbers 1-5.But they only give you booklets with directions for bags 1 and 2.Bags 3, 4, and 5 - they don't even make booklets for. We're just on our own to make something up. What a horrible way for Lego to cut costs and cut corners. PROVIDE ALL 5 BOOKLETS!

Nice collection

I can see how a child might be frustrated if they were expecting build instructions BUT this is a great set. It has a wide variety of cool pieces in great colors and nice little accessories for your existing minifigs. It's definitely a good value. Just set expectations with your child that it is a set where they use their imaginations!

Typically, the Classic boxes are not as themed as this one is, but we loved it! Totally in love with the ideas of what to build and my son loved some of the smaller pieces like stars and frogs. We have already played this set for several days and it still is very strongly holding his attention.

The best Lego Classic set.

I love the space theme and the five sets that are included. The creations are really cute. You get a lot of extra parts. Ok, three of the instruction books are online only, but your kid got that figured out. I would buy it anytime again and recommend it to my friends.

The point of these boxes...
20 January 2023

These Classic boxes aren't actual sets, and thus, don't require instructions for each bag. The point of these boxes to me seem to be to simply provide more bricks/parts for your own builds. Honestly might be less confusing to not even offer the extra free online instructions for the other bags, because it seems like a lot of people missed the point. We love the less common colors that were included (magenta and coral frogs and leaves?? Amazing.)

Where are these building instructions
20 July 2022

My nephew recently got this Lego set and at first we were having a lot of fun with it. It's super colourful, it has lots of cool pieces, and it even has some great mini builds in the instruction manual! In the back of the first instruction manual, they tease that there's 3 more mini build projects for bags 3, 4, and 5 you can find if you go online. The pictures of the builds look like a lot of fun, so I go online for my nephew to find these instructions.I go online and I can't find the instructions anywhere. My sister-in-law tries, and she can't find them either. Then my brother tries. We go in circles and all we can find are the same instructions the set came with. I even download the app, but no luck. But we see that some other reviews complained of the same problem and the response from Lego was to contact customer service. So first thing on Monday, I get on the phone. The customer representative I talk to is super nice and is also confused as to why the instructions aren't available, but she can't find anything on her end either in PDF format. But she says that she has the physical booklets for the other builds in stock, and she can have them shipped! This is great news! My nephew will finally be able to build the purple alien! We just have to wait 5 to 7 business days. It's been 7 business days and today the instructions arrived in the mail, except it was the same two booklets the set already came with. No purple alien. There would be no problem with this set if the instructions booklet didn't show 3 cool mini build projects and say you can find the instructions for them online. This is a great set! The two build projects that are included are lots of fun, super cute, and have provided lots of entertainment. But you can't get up the expectations of a 5 year old for build instructions that don't exist. He's so sad and disappointed :(

Yes there are only 2 instruction booklets
2 July 2022

No they don't tell you how to build the purple alien. Nor do they provide any idea with what to do with the many different bags labelled 3 4 or 5. Nor do they provide digital instructions. Beyond the 1 and 2 in the box but ... They provide some unusual bricks and bricks in unusual colors. ... Including the new emergency vehicle yellow. A huge number of bricks around 1700 this set makes an awesome gift even if you get the impression parts of it are missing.
