As with most sets, you establish the moving parts early on in the build. I found the elastic band section (which controls the Ejector Seat) to be a little more fiddly than usual, but once the surrounding pieces were in place, it wasn't too much of an issue. It's a robust and sturdy build: weighty enough to feel substantial but not too heavy to detract from play.Play-wise, there are many options available: the aforementioned Ejector Seat is controlled using the rear bumper, opening the roof on pull and ejecting the seat on release. Additionally, the gear stick inside the car controls the front facing machine guns and the exhaust pipe raises and lowers the bulletproof shield at the rear of the car. Some of these features are a little stiff, but they're reliably designed and not difficult to use.The only slight negative I have is that the elegance of the car it is based on is a little lost in translation to Lego, featuring far more angles than are present in its real-life counterpart. Don't expect a 1:1 recreation of the DB5. That said, it's a striking design that certainly evokes the classic car and 007's unique features give it a unique feel.Overall, I'm really impressed with the set. A (somewhat) lengthy, but straightforward build and quite a few play options mean this is a must-have for any globe-trotting spy enthusiasts. Excellent.

As soon as I saw this set I knew I had to have it. It has a lot of cool details from the movie car and does a good job of recreating the look of the DB5. In reality the DB5 has a rounded, curvy shape that is difficult to recreate with blocks but Lego does a good job pulling it off. I had no issue with missing pieces, the color is consistent over the entire kit and it was very straight forward to assemble with no real issues. All the gadgets work well for me and the only real issue I had was with the pop-up panel that "protects" the back window. I had an issue when I built it but after taking a moment to study the instructions and just think through the mechanism I got it all figured it out and it works fine. I must admit when I first saw photos of the latest Creator Expert Car I was extremely disappointed. It looked like a poor representation of the subject matter and I was put off purchasing it.However I ended up receiving the set as a gift for Christmas and set about building it. It's a challenging build due to the several in built functional features. I'm still not 100% sure I've got it right, as the gearstick operated front guns mechanism sticks most of the time, although I can't figure out where I went wrong. The good news is when built and on display it doesn't look anywhere near as squared off as I'd originally thought. In my display cabinet with all the other creator cars it doesn't look out of place at all, given what the designer has to work with they've done a good job with the curves. The only thing that really stands out is the heavily squared off front end that lets it down a bit from head on.I can understand why the compromises have been made though, as the actual functional bond gadget elements have been incorporated well. Only the aforementioned guns, which may again be a mistake on my part.I'm very happy with this set, it exceeded my low expectations by a long way and if you collect the Creator cars this compliments the rest of the series really well. If you have been putting off purchasing it due to pictures you've seen, don't be.

This has been a very enjoyable build. It's a complex build at times and can be easy to make a mistake or two if instructions are not closely followed. Made some myself, but was able to troubleshoot and go back to make changes. It's a very neat set when everything is done right. I've seen some reviews mention that they've had certain parts not work, but I've had no issues myself. Everything should work as long as instructions are followed closely. Seeing the ejector seat work as flawlessly as it does is easily one of the most fascinating parts of the build. It's amazing overall that so many other features like functional rotating turrets and bullet proof shield among other things were fit into this one set.Overall, very nice set which will provide you hours of ... MoreThis has been a very enjoyable build. This model did not immediately join my wish-list - I was not taken initally by the rather square appearance, but my curiosity was aroused by the news that it was fully loaded with most of the gadgetry of the original, and I became intrigued to discover how all of this was packed into the model. With an impending birthday and an obliging wife the model was soon in my possession and, unusually for me, I started the build almost immediately (it was raining at the time!).The looks are growning on me. It's no Bugatti, but then I guess it's not intended to be as it is in the Creator rather than Technic series and the same can be said of the Mini and the Beetle. It's no Bugatti, but then I guess it's not intended to be as it is in the Creator rather than Technic series and the same can be said of the Mini and the Beetle. However, I found it to be a most entertaining and enjoyable build. The creativity demonstrated by the ingenious buidling techniques and the imaginative use of elements to represent features of the original is quite astounding. I particularly liked the use of pistols (yes, really!) to represent the engine exhaust manifold pipework. It is quite a challenging build, requiring careful concentration and I found myself mis-reading the instructions occsionally. The greatest challenge is with applying the stickers, Usually a sticker covers most of the element it is attached to with a uniform border around the edge, making alighment reasonably easy. The stickers in this set are quite small and many cover only part of the element, making alignment rather more tricky. I have to resort to using tweezers to get a satisfactory result.Overall, I really enjoyed building this set and it kept me entrertained for a good few hours. I don't like to rush and it was almost a disappointment to finish it, though the finished model with the working 'special features' is a worhtwhile addition to my collection. I thoroughly reccommend it.
The build is fun, but the real joy of this set is all the spy-fi detail. I can’t think of another set that includes so many great and playable features. The Headlight machine guns, rotating license plates, bulletproof shield are all wonderful, but the ejector seat really takes the features to another level. The only caveats? Well, to be honest, the legendarily sleek db5, doesn’t really lend itself to the brick format. It can pass for the original, but maybe the limitation of the piece count keeps it from being closer in final resemblance. The grey color chosen for the exterior also leaves a bit to be desired and would probably look better with silver. Overall, a great set and a good display.
This set is a great build, but you have to get it perfect for everything to work right. That's why I rate it "very challenging." If anything is misaligned, some of the neat and very clever little thingamajigs LEGO has built into this car will not function right (I read a lot of negative reviews where they had that problem, and I'm inclined to believe it was the builder's fault). But mine is functionally perfect! My major issue is with the light bluish gray pieces, and there are a lot of them obviously. Certain pieces were extremely light colored, almost white, and they stick out like a sore thumb on the exterior of the vehicle. It's like the dye machine was running low on black ink when they were molding these suckers. Most pieces are fine. Certain pieces were extremely light colored, almost white, and they stick out like a sore thumb on the exterior of the vehicle. It's like the dye machine was running low on black ink when they were molding these suckers. Most pieces are fine. LEGO even included a separate bag of 11 1x1 light bluish gray bricks (that are the proper tint) as though they were aware of the color problem, but there are quite a few other uncommon pieces that also share this discoloration. I've never purchased a LEGO product that provided extra large pieces in their own bag; I have to think that the product I purchased was partially defective and they added those in right before they boxed it up to make up for it.It's very odd, some of these gray pieces are so light they could be considered an entirely new LEGO color. Maybe the set will be worth more as a result. In any case, great build, impressive design, looks good nonetheless!
This was my first Lego set since I was a child. I'm a big Bond fan so I decided to dip my toe back in. It was incredibly fun to build, particularly the various mechanisms, like the ejector seat. The building techniques have certainly come a long way since my 1993 Fire Breathing Fortress set!The detail that went into the design is great, right down to the engine that actually looks a good deal like the real thing. It's definitely a bit more blocky than the real car, but I suspect cleaning up the lines would have entailed making it considerably larger. I would have appreciated a couple of printed pieces instead of some of the stickers, like the Aston Martin logo at the front.I really didn't expect to enjoy this nearly as much as I did, and Lego has successfully ... MoreThis was my first Lego set since I was a child. Received this as an unexpected Christmas present from my brother. My first personal build in over 20 years (all builds in that time were through my children), and it's reignited my passion for building. Before receiving this as a gift, I had considered buying it, but was never fully convinced by the publicity images. As a fan of both James Bond and Aston Martin, something didn't look right. However, after completing the build, it was clear that the images just weren't doing it justice. It really does look so much better when it's physically in front of you. All the little gadgets and moving parts - there was some serious engineering gone into this.Absolute pleasure to build.
The details are great and fairly accurate to the car they used in the film. I could've gone without the stickers...I don't have very steady hands when applying them, so my license plates are all a little crooked...The license plate in the front...yeah that doesn't swivel at all and I've gone over the instructions twice, have yet to see where I went wrong. The mirrors are perhaps the most delicate part of the build, they easily fall off, but I'm glad they went the route that they did, as it holds more detail towards the car.Only complaints are stickers with the price they have set, the lack of ability to turn/swivel the front license plates, and the ejector seat doesn't always deploy properly.
