My three year old daughter is obsessed with Lego, so we filled her advent calendar this year with all the holiday, winter, and Christmas Lego available this season. She’s very adept at reading the diagrams and working with small pieces, so this set wasn’t too hard to do together despite the age rating! This was by far our favorite holiday set! First, the build took a delightfully long time, but the designers sprinkled lovely delight all the way through. First you build the light up tree, which delighted my preschooler and also her visiting grandpa, who spent much of his build “support” time pushing it down to make it glow. Then early on the main house you build the kitchen and the delightful cookie mixer. Then the last thing built is the amazing santa-down-the-chimney, which is quite clever. The only really tough build part that was well beyond my kiddo was attaching the roof, which was definitely an advanced build design. Top marks, my favorite set bought in 2022!

Love the set! It really adds to the magic around my house for the Holidays! One brain fart on this one. The Dad, Gary, likes to take his scarf off when he comes in from the cold. He looks around for a good spot for his scarf, but ends up leaving it on the floor, in a chair, on the table, under the tree with the presents, and sometimes when he’s had a little too much hot chocolate, he leaves it outside by the mailbox! The mom, Betsy, gets after Gary when she sees his scarf lying around. She reminds him that they don’t live in a barn and that he needs to set a better example for their daughter, Margo, on the importance of keeping a tidy home. For a long time, Gary’s only solution was to wear his scarf inside and swallow his feelings on being too sweaty and ... MoreLove the set! It really adds to the magic around my house for the Holidays! One day a lightbulb went off for Gary! He remembered he had some spare Legos lying around the house, and being the handy husband that he was, he decided to build a custom coat rack for his scarf! There was even a perfect spot for it right by the foyer! This solved the scarf predicament for the family and made Betsy so so happy! She couldn’t wait to show off Gary’s craftsmanship to all the family and friends visiting for the Holidays this year! She just loves to brag on Gary’s ability to build. They now all enjoy cozy evenings by the fire where they drink hot cocoa and eat cookies. Gary is no longer too sweaty to spend time indoors with his family! What a happy ending for the Riddle’s!

First off, I am so glad this isn’t RED! The blue is great, frosty for winter, but feels like it would be cozy and warm inside.I am disappointed in the number of and style of the mini figures. To have only a “mom, dad & girl" doesn’t add to this set. My young son was turned off by this too. The mini figs feel out of place with this set. The man is wearing a scarf and she is drinking “something”, yeah that makes them belong in a Christmas setting. They feel like afterthoughts that were grabbed from the leftover bin. They’re not even placed in the set during the build to start your imaginationOverall the set is good, but the figures lack connection and cohesiveness with it. I like adding extra figures from Advent calendars etc, but this is the first set I feel the ... MoreFirst off, I am so glad this isn’t RED! Santa's visit is a great set for Christmas Eve. It's a steady hour or two to make. The light up Christmas tree is innovative. The house is built on a platform which creates a house which isn't a standard box shape which is interesting. The chimney is hollow which is fun for santa to shoot down. The roof elements are interesting. The eves can fold out giving you access to the rooms upstairs to play. The units in the kitchen are well thought through. You can pick the house up to relocate it without it breaking. The instructions are good too they have some comments from the designer which was a nice touch. The only improvement I would make is a better designed fire. The fire is a bit stiff meaning santa can get stuck in the flames. Not what santa wants on Christmas ... MoreSanta's visit is a great set for Christmas Eve. It's a steady hour or two to make. The light up Christmas tree is innovative. Waiting with interest to see what will come out in Winter in 2023. I don't think we have had a snowman or husky set?
The title of this review just about sums it up! Our new family tradition is to sit down on Christmas Eve and build a LEGO Christmas set. In 2021 it was this set, 2022 was the Christmas Tree. We all had so much fun and it was an amazing amount of family time sharing this build. Both our children struggled with their fine motor skills and following the step by step instructions. Since we introduced them to LEGO they have really come on leaps and bounds in both areas to the point where my son, who used to need a lot of help, is building quite complex sets without help at all.Thank you LEGO for making Christmas for our family.
Firstly, this was a fantastic build full of amazing details. The Christmas tree with a light brick is a very very nice touch however I probably would have preferred it in the fireplace although many sets have it so I appreciate the fact that the designers want to mix it up and enable Santa to fly down the chimney. The minifigures are great especially Santa, and the interior of the house is lovely, really nicely decorated. I do usually like if in a lego set the rooms are practical for the figures for example a bed for each figure, stairs to get up to the next floor, bathroom etc, I do realise this isn't always possible and would add to the size of the build subsequently adding to the cost. So for that matter I don't mind and think they have the perfect balance ... MoreFirstly, this was a fantastic build full of amazing details. Sadly, I never got to build this set. My fiancé bought it for me as a gift and as soon as I started building it I realized it was incomplete. We are both Lego fans and have more than 30 sets. Several in the 500$ range and this was the first time we experience a set being incomplete. We have had sets with maybe 1 missing piece but NEVER full bags! We were shocked to say the least. No characters, no light, a bunch of pieces missing. We couldn’t even get past the first page. We contacted Lego and send them photos of all of the bags still sealed. After looking at the bags we realized there were no characters in them. We told them we would return what we had in exchange for a new one and they said they couldn’t do it. Now I’m just left with a bunch of random pieces from an incomplete set. Very disappointed with the customer service!
This is probably the best winter themed set yet. The build was most enjoyable, with a number of unique features, such as;1. A Christmas tree that actually lights up when you press the top.2. Sloping roof sections which cantilever into place, resulting in a very nice rigid roof structure, unlike previous sets where the roof is hinged into place and can disintegrate at the slightest touch.3. A chimney actually large enough to allow Santa to drop down and into the living room. The colour scheme is also delightful, making this a terrific addition to our winter holiday village which will now be displayed throughout the whole of December.I liked this set so much, that I have now bought two more as presents for other family members and recommended it to a friend who is ... MoreThis is probably the best winter themed set yet. Well done Lego you did a great job with this one.
Overall, I think this is a great set aesthetically and has a lot of thought and care put into its design, the roofs look great but are kind of a pain to set and alter if you want to use this for another season scene. It’s clear there was a lot of thought going into how to construct the roofs so that they could swing away and set it place for different alterations and play styles. I just struggled to put it together myself and I can imagine families might struggle with it too. But the roof does have a very striking slope that kind of makes the overall design, so I’d rather have it be a bit flawed and workable than have another roof or a roof that can’t be adjusted. The stand out for me is the light brick for the outdoor Christmas tree. I am not obsessed with the little toys scattered around it, but the baseline light brick integrated into this set is awesome. I also love the chimney that Santa can come down. It’s easy to put together and effective while still. Being whimsical. Please find attached a pic of the extra Lego pieces included in this set.
I've run through many different lighting companies for Pico based lighting. and here are a few things i love:* The size of the connectors! they fit through an open stud.* The Kits are well thought-out, the instructions good and if you want to expand the additional components are easily purchased.
