The knight bus is jam-packed with lovely surprises! The chandelier moves at every lurching stop and just as Harry cozies up in bed he get whooshed forward. Ernie can turn his chair around to tell Harry hi and Stan holds on for dear life outside right below the sign stating ‘All destinations Nothing Underwater’. Tired of sitting? Hop on the the sort of balcony inside with a cute chair. On the third story you can find Harry’s trunk and the Daily Prophet. Tired of looking through the many windows? Open up the door, take off the roof, or pop off The third story! The front of The bus is lovely and looks so much like a real bus— just purple!!

This was my first Harry Potter set which is small enough to make a great desktop display from my favourite Harry Potter film. It’s a fun build and really captures the look of the bus with some great minifigs. My problem with the set are the number of design flaws. Both the bottom and top decks have ceilings that are too low to allow the conductor to stand anywhere but on the entrance set due to his cap.I also dislike the over use of Lego of using stickers for details rather than bricks. I’m certain a brick solution could have been found for the grills on the front of the bus. I’m terrible at applying stickers and they always bring the quality of the set and my building experience down.My last issue is the price. The finished set doesn’t feel like you are ... I played with Lego's as a kid (1960's), and as a parent with my kids. I have been diagnosed with Parkinsons and have at hand tremor which at times severely effects my ability to do the simplest of tasks using my hands. My wife thought building models with Lego might help me maintain my fine motor skills. I was somewhat apprehensive about trying this because of my hand tremors. Well .... this was GREAT! I thoroughly enjoyed assembling the model. I love the detail and the creativity of the build. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. When the tremors prevented me from assembling, I just took break. Thank you for allowing me to rediscover my (childhood) love for model building, and allowing me to (in a way) beat Parkinsons. It's for my grandson for Christmas, he loves Harry Potter to this day. This is one piece I thought he'd enjoy. He read the whole collection when he was in fourth grade. He was reading high school level. He's a junior in high school has been taking college courses since he was in 6th grade. He will still sit and read Harry Potter or watch the movies.
As a experienced builder, I was pleasantly surprised that the build is a more exciting than it looks (I was worried the build would be 90% windows). Attention to detail is excellent and the final product looks incredibly like the one in the movies (seriously, pull up some pictures and compare the two). The techniques aren’t super fancy, but there are some angled windows and the front section of the bus is attached using bricks with studs on the sides. The curves along the top of the roof look nice without any major gaps. Details are all stickers, not printed parts, but that’s to be expected in a smaller set. The minifigures are all fairly detailed and look accurate to their appearances in the movies. The bus also comes with plenty of play features for younger fans, ... The minifigures are all fairly detailed and look accurate to their appearances in the movies. The bus also comes with plenty of play features for younger fans, including a swinging chandelier, removable roof, bed that slides back and forth and can fit a minifigure, and a wall that swings open to allow interior access. The only way I think the set could be improved would be the inclusion of Sirius Black as his dog animagus. Overall, I’d say that this set would be a great choice for both younger fans that will be playing with it and adult collectors that want it to look nice. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quality Harry Potter set that isn’t too expensive.
This was sold as a LEGO product and it wasn't. The box looked just like the picture--bus, Harry Potter, kids, etc.-- except that it didn't say LEGO on it anywhere. Instead, it said "Magic Castle." Because it was so close to Christmas (it would have been impossible to get a replacement in time) and my young son probably won't notice the difference, I chose to keep it. He built it and commented to me that "the pieces were hard to fit together" and that the pieces felt "heavy." It still brought him joy, but it's a knock-off. If I had known this, I never would have bought it.
The bus is super easy to assemble, and took me about 2 ish hours (or one Harry Potter film). You receive 3 bags, and a bag of extra bits, which means that you complete bag 1 before moving onto bag 2 etc. The instruction booklet is easy to follow with bright, coloured pictures. There's lots of added accessories that come with the Knight Bus, which I wasn't expecting, like Harry Potter's Hogwarts letter and the newspaper report of Sirius Black's escape from Azkaban. You can open up the side and take off the top of the Knight Bus too, so it's perfect for playing with kids (though mine is mainly a display piece!). There's even the shrunken head!I love the Knight Bus, and I'm so happy to add this beautiful LEGO to my collection. Not all LEGO appeals to me (although I am eyeing up the Quidditch pitch and, let's face it, who wouldn't want the entire Hogwarts castle?!) but this one definitely does and I think LEGO have done a really good job.
The Lego Harry Potter The Knight Bus is a fun build. I bought the build to complete with my kids while they are home and we enjoyed building it together and playing with it after. The ourple color is very cibrant like a bright grape jelly. The build is a 4 out of 10. Once built it is fun to play with and my kids love that it moves. The build represents the Potter Universe peffectly. There are small pieces so as always check the age range on the Lego box. My kids are five and sevn that Indid this with and they loved it, my older kids thiught it was an easy build for them and my younger said it was difficult. Like Instated above I believe a 4 out if 10 on the build scale and tbat is because we where so differenr on our scale that I took the average. This is a fun ... It is a very long time since I have built with Lego but seeing as the chances of getting even a mini-break in 2020 are slim to none I made the decision to splurge what we would likely have spent on going away on some fun hobby stuff. I am still overly obsessed with Harry Potter and this kit has been catching my eye at local stores and online for about 18 months now.Yes, the price seems high but when you look at the quality of a Lego set you start to understand why. Not only is the engineering behind the design impeccable but the bricks themselves slot together securely, are richly coloured and have limitless uses.Building itself is a great deal of fun and the instructions are in a handy booklet with step by step images. Not only is the engineering behind the design impeccable but the bricks themselves slot together securely, are richly coloured and have limitless uses.Building itself is a great deal of fun and the instructions are in a handy booklet with step by step images. The bricks come in numbered bags which correspond to each step in the booklet so you don't have 400+ pieces scattered around whilst you build. This also makes it much easier to segregate the pieces by type and colour and there is a large amount of variation in the pieces needed to create the Knight Bus.There is a large amount of play value with this set. The most impressive thing for me was the way one side of the bus itself is hinged so you can open it up and access the inside to place your figures. The roof of the bus also lifts off to give access to the top deck. Stability overall was very good, I did play with it for a little while and didn't have issues with pieces dropping off as I played. This is probably due to the fairly basic rectangular structure but that is ultimately what a bus is.The only thing is I would have liked it to be maybe a little wider as it is a little "snug" to get the figures in.Total Pieces: 403Approximate Cost per piece: £0.09Build Time: 1.5 Hours
After deciding whether to buy this set for a few weeks, I finally gave in and bought it as I liked the look of the features, such as the swinging chandelier and swivel drivers seat, to name a few, which Lego have cleverly depicted from the film.Overall, I found this set fun to build and well worth the money, although it seemed like it was going to be bigger due to the packaging, which was deceiving. I found the bottom deck was the most challenging to build, but it provides space for Harry’s chest or bed.Previously I had bought two of the new Harry Potter series 2 Mini figures, and I plan to buy two more of the red seats to sit them on the third deck as there is space to do so.Would recommend to any Harry Potter fan! :)
