Beautiful kit. Simple design with striking results. Excellent intro for young City builders ready to advance to Creator. I generally prefer more advanced kits but this one appealed to me for its realism. I plan to collect as many of the kits in this theme as I can. This kind of realism at this scale is a wonderful addition to the Lego family. I would love to see this continued in the future.

I now have most of the Speed Champions sets and this is one of my favourites. I think it's the most true to life model in terms of representing the look of the real car. This is as it relies more on the shape of the bricks than the stickers to define it. Where some of the other models look flat or 'boxy' from certain angles, the 918 has a good all round shape to it.

This was the first of the Speed Challenge vehicles I got. It is a fun little car and is about as close a one can get to a mini figure scale real vehicle. I have most of the other sets in this series and they are similar in this regards. When trying to have a real vehicle be on the scale of mini figures there will be design sacrifices so here you are looking for the essence of the car, and this car as well as the others do capture that. Of the cars in the series I like this one the most but that is personal preference. My 2 boys love playing with my legos, they have their own, and this series has been one of the more popular ones in the house. I even dug out some of my old lego city race sets to complement this series. If Lego is looking for ideas to continue the ... MoreThis was the first of the Speed Challenge vehicles I got. I would also say that a larger set that includes the Ford GT40 and Ferrari 330 P3/P4 be created as that was an actual rivalry.

I'm a car guy at heart, even if I can't quote the exact displacement in cubic-centimeters of an engine. When I saw Lego had LICENSED sets of various real cars, even if not 1 to 1 accurate, I was excited and had to get them. I started with the McClaren, and thought for the money it was a good representation. I then got this model, and finally the Ferrari LaFerrari.Out of the three models, the Porsche Spyder is my favorite simply because it has the the best resemblance to the actual car. It was an easy build, never challenging, and the end result was a fun car.Where I'd like to see improvement is with the wheels and connections. While the hubcap is accurate, the wheel itself has a lot of friction and does not role freely. There are other Lego sets with wheels ... While the hubcap is accurate, the wheel itself has a lot of friction and does not role freely. There are other Lego sets with wheels that role VERY freely, even the Lego Camper roles better. This is ironic considering the whole line is the SPEED line. One thing I'd like to see is maybe a Technic, or larger scale, version of the same cars available now that were more accurate and had detailed engines and other features larger sets typically have.
And this car is a great model of the 918. The shape is good and "Porsche-worthy". Otherwise the company would have not allowed to use the Porsche logos and name. ;)Just wish there would be any prints and not just stickers. But that's ok for the money you pay here.As always with Lego, me and my friend had a blast with building it, in just under two hours.
I was thrilled to find this little set, a now retired model from the Speed Champions theme. These are great for spending an evening relaxing and all look great together. The series isn't too taxing to be overly time consuming, but the design and engineering that brings the features of each different vehicle means the builds are never repetitive, and there are some lovely techniques to evoke the originals. Great stuff to unwind with in the evening.
I am an avid Porsche fan, and this product is fantastic for consumer of all ages. I wish Lego will launch more products in this theme in more diverse models and brands. The build was easy but at the same time very creative. I have bought three more speed champion products and they are had different building experience! The only downside, if I may, is that the spoiler part of the car is not fixed very well, therefore if children were to play with the product, the piece may fall off. Nevertheless, this car is great to play with and also easy on the eyes.
I had just bought this set today for myself at Toys R US and assembled it as soon as I got home. For it being an easy build, it looks realistic and is durable. This set will not fall apart that easy. One thing that this set depends on heavily though is stickers. They may be tough to apply perfectly, but they are needed to give the model a good look. Overall, I'd give this set a perfect 5/5 stars. I cannot wait to buy myself the other Speed Champions soon.
CONS: I think this is an awesome except for one thing... TOO MANY STICKERS!!! It came with 15 stickers to put on a little $14.99 set! That may be a personal complaint (I don't like to put the stickers on, but others might), but I just decided to say that. That's the only reason I rated it four stars (bricks)...PROS: The Porsche 918 Spyder set is a really cool looking set. I like cars so I try to get the brand name cars like this. Looking forward to buying the rest of the Speed Champions sets someday...So yes, overall this was a pretty good set.
I love this car. finally a car Lego sells that is worth it. Will buy another one. just so amazing. it is fairly easy to build and pretty fast when you push the car to roll on its own. it rides smoothly because the tires are just right for it.
