Cool but missing so much. The first thing that strikes me is the relatively small ship with a big price. No pods, doors are wrong, stud shooters, scale is off, and missing many key features of the gunship that would have been simple to add like the missiles for the top, double-doors, and so on. I would have preferred a normal looking, play scale, w/ good detail, gunship. The figures are okay. Haven’t seen Padme and Palp for awhile. Not a fan of the holes in the troopers helmets. They look very odd and always catch my eye in a bad way. This is okay. It just lacks so many of the things that make a gunship awesome like accurate features, sizing, and a reasonable cost. The last version was far superior and cost less when adjusted for today. You would think fair-value would enter the picture somewhere but unfortunately not.

Bought this as the gunship has always been one of my favorite ships in star wars. But this was disappointing compared to the older one I had as a kid. The size is much smaller and is a lot more expensive then the previous version it also has way less playable features then the older one. The minifigures are all cool but for the same price as last year's lego ATTE the amount of minifigures is far greater for the same price in the ATTE. If this was closer to 100 and not 140 I would of liked this alot more but the size and minifugure amount is very disappointing for the price. I would recommend anyone looking at getting there kids a big lego star wars set this holiday season to go for the ATTE instead due to the higher minifigure amount(especially if they like clone ... MoreBought this as the gunship has always been one of my favorite ships in star wars. I’ll start first by saying that I’m a little biased. I have always been a fan of the coruscant guard ever since seeing them in TCW. And it fits perfectly with my few little Empire/Republic sets that I have. But onto the build! This thing is built to last, part of the fun was seeing how they absolutely lock each part of the ship together, this set is not coming apart. Also the handle, which I admit I thought was a little dumb at first, is absolutely perfect to not only help build but to actually swing it around. I really enjoyed building this one and it displays so wonderfully, the red is absolutely crisp. I would absolutely pick up this set. Only downside to it is it is a smidge on the expensive side for everything you get, but that’s honestly the only negative. If ... MoreI’ll start first by saying that I’m a little biased. Good Concept, Poor Execution
10 September 2023

The build itself is good, and I like the concept of having a specific legion gunship however, the way LEGO have executed this is terrible. Firstly, Commander Fox is shockingly inaccurate and falsely advertised! The 'white' on the chest plate does not have the correct opacity and looks pink as opposed to the box art and pictures. Fox doesn't include a cloth kama and clearly highlights LEGOs fall in quality over the years as cloth kamas had previously been included. Secondly, there is a severe lack of play features or extra accessories, compare this with the 2013 version or 2008 version, and you'll notice straight away the additional speeder bike, or bacta tank. If you already have a gunship from previous years and have no love for the Coruscant Guard I'd suggest skipping this one. If you don't have a gunship and can't afford the 08 and 13 ones on the aftermarket then go for it but be prepared for a lack of playability and poorly executed minifigures.

Good not Great

Kind of disappointed that the gunship doesn’t have two sliding bay doors on each side like past models of the gunship or much room to fit minifigures in the bay. I understand with a smaller build that it makes those things more difficult to accomplish. I do appreciate the Coruscant red color scheme it looks really nice and the build is good. As far as minifigures go I wish that Commander Fox’s chest print was show accurate and that you guys would go back to giving clone commanders cloth kamas again. The holes on the side of the clone helmets are inaccurately placed as I’m sure you know. I wish you guys would fix that, it looks odd. I’d give it an 8.5/10 overall. Could be better.

Missed opportunity

Was looking forward to the set. There are allot of aspects to it that I like, however for the price, it is not worth the money. The build is solid. It is probably the most secure gunship build yet. The technic skeleton is incredibly sturdy and makes it easy to move around. The red and white colour scheme is beautiful to have on display and most the figures are fairly decent. That said. There are a number of baffling design choices that could have been easily improved upon without sacrificing the piece count. For a start, the minifigures are good (but if you don't like helmet holes the 2 troopers are not for you). But the Commander Fox is atrocious for this price. Not only is the print inaccurate, but the print quality is extremely poor. The white torso printing on the chest is very faded, making it look pink under most lighting conditions, and the helmet stripe is very thin (the troopers don't have this problem so it is confusing as to why Fox, the main figure draw, does). Also, he has a grey visor (it should be black) and no cloth waist cape. These are extremely cheap to include so it's confusing why they did not include them. Also, considering cheaper sets have included more minifigures, an extra clone trooper or 2 would have made this much better value for money. The AT TE has 5 clone troopers and 3 droids for a cheaper price. My biggest gripes with the build has to be the single door opening (making it very difficult to get inside the troop bay). And the completely wasted space below the cockpit. I have already modified mine to fix those issues, but again, for the price, people should not have need to fix this set themselves.A minor gripe I have is the inability to adjust the wings up and down, which also would make it easier to get inside the small troop bay, but in fairness the wings are incredibly sturdy (you can hold the whole model by the wings alone and not worry about it breaking) so it is a trade off. I personally would prefer the wings to move up and down to access the troop bay, as most people will be using the carry handle when moving this model.Overall, a decent set, but for the price I would not recommend it. I would wait for it to go on sale, as the Fox minifigure is a huge let down, and the build itself is much better suited for display than play unless you make your own modifications.

Nice concept, poorly executed
9 September 2023

It’s sad how disappointing this set is given it had so much potential, being the first Republic Gunship for a decade. The set itself is a nice build, sturdy and looks great on display, but the play features are seriously lacking. I find it baffling how LEGO didn’t utilise the space in the front compartment for anything at all. Previous Republic Gunships have filled this area with a removable mobile command station or a missile rack, but on this one it has just been left completely empty for no reason. The decision to only have one opening door instead of two (like on previous sets) is not only inaccurate but also hinders your ability to place figures inside of the Gunship, because the door doesn’t open far enough back to allow you to access the rear of the set. And while there are stud shooters on the wings, they stand out like a sore thumb and look nowhere near as good or accurate as on previous sets.As for the minifgures 4/5 of them are good at least. Chancellor Palpatine and Padme look really nice as do the two Shock Troopers (if you can look past the ugly unnecessary helmet holes). Commander Fox is the biggest let down in this set, his torso printing is so obviously inaccurate, the white printing on the chest is discoloured, the line on the helmet is far too narrow and the printed waistcape looks just awful like it does on every other Clone Trooper minifigure who has it. Please, please, PLEASE bring back the cloth kamas for Clone Trooper minifgures, nobody likes the printed versions plus LEGO still makes cloth pieces for other themes so why not Star Wars anymore???If you want a Republic Gunship this is not a terrible set, but it does have serious flaws. If you have any of the previous Gunship sets you’ll probably want to pass on this one unless you’re desperate for the minifgures.

Really good set, but could have been better
15 September 2023

While I love this set, I still think it could have been just a little bit better. The main thing that could have it better is of course the bubble turrets on the wings. Although I don't mind the stud shooters replacing them. I also kinda wish there was a clone pilot or two with this set, but already know Shock Troopers do know how to fly a LAAT.While I wish these changes were implemented, that is not to say I disliked this set. From the moment I saw the first leaked image I fell in love with this set. As a longtime Star Wars fan, I had to get my hands on this set. Even though I still have the older 2008 set sitting in pieces at my house.Oh the other thing I like about this set, is how long it took to build. The main thing that could have it better is of course the bubble turrets on the wings. Although I don't mind the stud shooters replacing them. As someone who's building legos for about 20 years, I thought this set was gonna take me an hour or so to build. Boy was I wrong, this set took me 3 hours to build, and I loved that. I personally think the best part of having a lego set is building it.

Solid Gunship

Despite the overall truncated dimensions, this set successfully represents the gunship's aesthetic. So much so, I'm hopeful this set's design will serve as a template for other versions of the gunship to be released in the future. Sure, Commander Fox's printing leaves a lot to be desired. Very unfortunate to have the white on his chest come out looking very pink. The other mini figs are great. Would be nice to have a bit more space inside for storage and perhaps play. As an AFOL, I'm not too concerned with the latter, but can see the potential for other audiences. The single doors on both sides don't bother me at all. They function quite well and look nice. This is a play-scale set after all, aimed at a generally younger audience. High marks on the overall accuracy vs the source material. The size is great for display. Which is primarily why I bought this set. I'm happy with it. Roll out additional iterations, please?

Very cool build!!!

I own an older, bigger version of the regular gunship. I also own an older, bigger version of the at-te set that shares the same price point. The commander Cody makes the at-te worth it for me and the ship build makes this gunship worth it for me. This set is not without downsides, the Palpetine and Padme figures are cool and from a story standpoint it absolutely makes sense to include them, however i personally would have been fine with just clones. Or maybe just clones and either 1 or the other of the senators. With the at-te build I was upset with the size loss compared to my previous version, and the build was cool but not that great or sturdy. With the at-te build I was upset with the size loss compared to my previous version, and the build was cool but not that great or sturdy. This set however has one of the most sturdy builds I have seen from a Lego ship of any size. I was beyond impressed and thrilled to see the cool puzzle like effect of the support pieces. You would build a section and end up with a random piece hanging out, only later to find out it connected to an upcoming section in a very unique way that bonded the sections but also added incredible structure. I’m not kidding when I say I think this is the most sturdy Lego set I personally own. When it’s done it feels so dense and sturdy in all the right ways. I was so impressed I test dropped it 3 times from various heights because I was sure it wouldn’t explode like most sets. First 2 drops were perfect and the 3rd the door section unclicked but that was the only damage. Clicked it back in and was ready to roll again. I bought 2 more just so I can build them again later on down the road. Very awesome ship! Definitely much smaller than previous versions but the design makes up for it. Mini figures are decent and I enjoy the clones they came with but overall I think the figs are the weekpoint of this set. Basically, if you’re buying just for the clones then you may be disappointed. If you appreciate a good build then this is an amazing buy! Maybe even buy the limit so you can make a little fleet!!
