Not as good as previous Lego games. Have fucus is on combat rather than solving puzzles by breaking object and rebuilding in the correct order. I believe there's are puzzles in freeplay. And only played through episode one so far. But have seems to be just a case of walking from A to B practically unhindered as only a few enemies at a time. So your basically walking from cut scene to cut scene. My son prefers the overhead old view, and having to work together in co-op, to progress. A very small child may appreciate the zero challenge of this game. The graphics are very nice.

I've always been a big fan of star wars and I loved playing the complete saga lego game as a kid with my sister, this game is like that one but on a million steriods. As you progress through the story you can explore all types of locations from the movies and I think its pretty cool. There is almost 400 characters and about 100 ships to play as. Combat has been expanded but nothing complicated. I like that every chracter with a saber has their own unique styles and moves. There is a bit less building than before but its okay. Gameplay and locations make up for it. It is kind of weird for them to have voices because most lego games ive played they dont talk.

So far the game itself is absolutely fantastic and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of the old games. I bought this version expecting to get the steelbook in perfect condition. However, as they did with the last steelbook I bought, Best Buy managed to scratch it a little bit even though it was wrapped in plastic. Last time I bought a steelbook it was for Into The Spider-Verse and they managed to dent it. When I reached out to customer support, they essentially told me I have to return everything that came with the deluxe edition and buy the regular version or just deal with the steelbook being scratched. I think another big box store should be handling steelbooks cause obviously their employees don’t care whether or not they damage them before they ship them.

Overall, I love the game. I got into the lego games last year and now own several. Being that this one is star wars, makes it even more appealing to me. My only problem is it glitches off and on, freezes on occasion which messes up whatever im doing at the time (one time it froze for a minute in the middle of jumping across something and when it unfroze, I fell and died lol), and it has completely crashed a couple times so far which made me have to close it out and restart it and the whole level all over. I found out the makers had an update right after release to fix those problems, unfortunately it was for all other platforms except the switch version. Once they finally fix the issues for the switch version, id be willing to change it to 5 stars.
I didn't really start into LEGO games until my kids started into them during the Wii U era, so I was late to the Star Wars series. There is a clear distinction between the older and newer titles which was a shame because Star Wars and LEGO go so well together. Having several LEGO Star Wars sets I've built and my kids have played with its great to see the series return. On PS5 it plays and looks better than I would say any LEGO game to date. That said this is the first LEGO game released during the current gen of consoles. Although features like ray tracing are abscent the game looks great. With classic LEGO humor and what seems like a combination of possibly movie dialog and new voice work the game hits at nuanances of the film franchise. I'd possibly recommend ... I'd possibly recommend anyone playing these view the films first. Each of the nine films is represented in a three to four hour segment that offers typical LEGO game minibrick and stud collection to unlock characters and extras. If you enjoy LEGO or Star Wars there is plenty to enjoy in this game.
After waiting for weeks for a Deluxe Edition restock, I caved in and bought the standard edition just so I wouldn’t miss out on the Steelbook as well. (Before eny of you megamind say “butt muhh preorderr”, I just got the PS5, I didn’t even know if I ever could, so excuse me for not wanting to spend $100+ on a slim possibility) The regular plastic case was wrapped in plastic and the steelbook was taped to the plastic wrap with the most ungodly pieces of double-sided tape I have ever had the displeasure of laying eyes on. It brought off tiny patches of paint with it and my fingers are on fire. I cant wait to play the game but I will be avoiding Best Buy whenever I can after seeing how horribly they handled this exclusive rollout. How hard could it be to plastic wrap ... I cant wait to play the game but I will be avoiding Best Buy whenever I can after seeing how horribly they handled this exclusive rollout. How hard could it be to plastic wrap them together? Or both if them separately? Steelbook is the reason I chose it over the digital copy from the PS Store and now it has tiny spots with no color that will bug me for the rest of eternity. I would recommend anyone who doesn’t desperately want the steelbook to just buy it online. I’m severely upset with this product.
Overall a fun game to have on Switch. Gives a good overview of all six films. If you're expecting a 'complete' experience through all the film storylines, you may be disappointed. Many scenes that were full levels in previous games are reduced to cutscenes or are short playable sections. Some of the highlight features like boss battles and the open world mechanic somewhat makes up for it. Lots to explore and unlock in free play mode (or in the free play segments between story mode levels). Voice acting for the main characters are top notch and will be familiar to fans of the animated shows. Plenty of in-jokes and silly antics one would expect from a Lego game - even after previous Lego Star Wars games covering the same material. There is some noticeable lag in the ... I played Lego Star Wars 2 on Xbox 360 just before I played Skywalker. #2 just had the original 3 films and was pretty fun. The original 3 films in Skywalker were the best by far. They had all of the major scenes. The humor is definitely still there & the puzzles. There isn’t as much building as past Lego games. Skywalker even made the first 3 films bearable. My favorite of those is #3 when Anakin becomes Darth Vader. The last three episodes, like the films, were pretty terrible. The only thing good about them was making fun of Kylo Ren- having him shirtless, etc. I don’t think I’d play through the last three again. But I would return to the first six, especially the original three. The game ran & looked good on the Switch. Overall, I’d give it an 8/10 or a 4/5.
Great sequel to the Lego Star Wars series. Starting a long time ago (15ish yrs)... in well this galaxy Lego Star Wars The Video Game was released, followed by the Original Trilogy, combined into the Complete Saga, then covering the tv show came 3 The Clone War, with The Force Awakens releasing in more recent times. Each game added its own spin, new characters, vehicles, updated combat, side missions. The Lego Star Wars series has always been a joy to play through, The Skywalker Saga completely surpasses all of them. While there are some noticeable cut corners (no openworld in Jabba's Palace) or Starkiller Base completely missing from free roam. Yes the levels are noticeably short, but the content is varied (but slightly repetitive) and plentiful. Easily a worthwhile purchase.
Definitely a cool game, but suffers when you try to play co-op. Crashed 3 times in the first level of Episode I, and I'm not talking "restart the game" crashes.. they were hard, system freezing crashes. I had to hold the power button for like 20 seconds to get the Switch to power down. Definitely not ready for a full release. They may have patched it by now, I haven't looked for a while. But my son played through Episode I on single player without any issues. Your mileage may vary. If you don't care about portability, I suggest you go with the PS5 version for co-op. I haven't tried it, but I assume there's no issue cause the PS5 is a powerhouse compared to the Switch!
