This is a solid Lego game. If you have played a Lego game before you kind of know what to expect. That said the combat in this one is a little more complex than the others with several different combat moves you can perform as well as a combat skill tree you can upgrade to improve the effectiveness of the different moves you have. Its still fairly basic but honestly its a nice addition. This one is based on the Lego Ninjago movie and the cut scenes are basically snippets from the film. Given the style of the movie and of the game, the scenes actually fit pretty seamlessly into the game. If you are a fan of the movie then playing through this will come with no real plot surprises but as games that let you play the movie go it is solid.I like the Lego game series a ... MoreThis is a solid Lego game. They are also super kid friendly so are a good choice for families and I imagine co-oping this with a kid would be a hoot.

I've long been a fan of the LEGO games and that will be apparent to anyone who has read my reviews here on BestBuy.com. This one is decent, but not one of the best. Being a movie-based game limits the amount of characters to unlock, but all of the normal LEGO game stuff is here: gold bricks, red brick unlocks, characters to unlock, studs to collect, open world exploration between levels, etc. It's just a shorter experience than other LEGO experiences, but as long as you go in knowing that, it's worth a play. The biggest issue for me is I really have no connection with these characters. I'm not a fan of the show and don't have a desire to watch the movie, I just wanted to play the game. It's still fun, but it's hard to really get into when you don't have a connection ... MoreI've long been a fan of the LEGO games and that will be apparent to anyone who has read my reviews here on BestBuy.com. Recent Lego games have become a little too 'open' for my tastes, but this one, while still following the open-world hub design, felt easier to navigate and work through in a systematic fashion... I was able to 100% beat the game and find all collectibles, and I never felt lost of overwhelmed. I also enjoyed the slight change to combat mechanics, which in other Lego games is simple and repetitive. The game's story follows the movie pretty closely, and clips from the movie are sprinkled in through the journey... although the voices (and some lines) felt like they'd been changed? Probably to be consistent with the new scenes added to fit between the old and new material. I highly recommend, even if you have become jaded of the Lego games.

I overheard my nephews mention this game after their grandma bought them a PS4 for Christmas. I checked it out online and it looked like a fun title for a 9 and 10 year. They boys love the Ninjago Lego sets so this was a no-brainer. Plus, their uncle loved ninjas when he was younger, so this seemed like a fun game that they would enjoy and boy did they. They played until their controllers died. Keeping youngsters off their eyepad and laughing and giggling was the best response I could experience. (And I snuck in some game play when they fell asleep and it was fun for me too!)
This game is good for Ninjago fans. I've only played multiplayer with my son and the frame rate is pretty bad. It's playable but it's not smooth. The gameplay itself is pretty similar to other Lego games except for the fighting and level traversal mechanics which are what makes this game stand out.The load times are pretty long for a Switch game, a little over a minute. Luckily, it only happens when entering a hub. The length of the game is on the short side but there's some replayability, ex. unlocking characters and alternate outfits. If you have a huge fan of Ninjago, it's worth considering this game as long as you can tolerate low fps.
The game play is very similar to other LEGO games, but Ninjago it is a lot easier and quicker to reach 100% completion. There didn't seem to be as many bugs that have plagued other Traveler's Tale games. Overall it's pretty fun, has a good variety of environments, and unique gameplay elements. While using the Nintendo Switch two player with individual Joy Cons we couldn't figure out how to pull up the map screen. This made us have to go back to the home screen, combine the the Joy Cons as one, then reenter the game, pull up the map screen, select the level, then proceed to re-enable individual Joy Con control. This was a pain.
One of the best Lego games so far IMO. Fighting is a little more involved than previous Lego entries, there's a skill branch system (easy to max out okay by story's end but that's okay for a kids' game), and everything looks far more superb than I ever thought a Lego game would. Even the coins just look detailed. Complete story mode in about ten hours plus more to find in unlocked free roam of all areas as per usual Lego format. Great game overall, great coop (though I'm a little disappointed that the dynamic split screen of previous Lego games went away), great usual Lego humor, great levels based on the movie with some bonus story parts that I don't think were in the movie (or were greatly expanded upon), and great for kids once again though some of the newer ... MoreOne of the best Lego games so far IMO. This is a great portable Lego game for the Nintendo Switch where you don't need to worry about being limited to needing internet because of trophies or achievements unlike the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Editions and the controls are very easy for the game too. 5 stars for the game. That being said, I know that the movie this video game was based on had a Blu-Ray 3D release here on the Best Buy website and that it was pulled from their website WITHOUT any warning to anyone. And until I see The Lego Ninjago Movie 3D+Blu-Ray+DigitalHDUV appear on the Best Buy website (and it HAS TO BE the Best Buy website) and remain on the Best Buy website WITHOUT getting removed, I will not be buying anything else that is Lego Ninjago including any sequels to this game that come out ... MoreThis is a great portable Lego game for the Nintendo Switch where you don't need to worry about being limited to needing internet because of trophies or achievements unlike the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Editions and the controls are very easy for the game too. 5 stars for the game. That being said, I know that the movie this video game was based on had a Blu-Ray 3D release here on the Best Buy website and that it was pulled from their website WITHOUT any warning to anyone. I didn't think I would enjoy Lego Ninjago The Movie Videogame as much as I did, seeing as how I'm usually skeptical of movie tie-ins, but I really like this game! It was nice to be able to use two single Joy-con controllers for Co-op after not being able to for Lego City Undercover. The graphics are very detailed and bright, and they incorporated the stop-motion animated look of the recent Lego movie and Ninjago movies for the cutscenes whish was a nice touch. The action was fast paced and fun, especially the shooter segments where you get to control the Ninjago vehicles. I would have liked some online multiplayer, but it's no deal breaker. This is probably one of my favorite Lego titles in recent years, at least until the release of Lego Marvel Superheroes 2!
My sons love Lego Ninjago for the Nintendo Switch. This game is perfect for fans of Ninjago and lego games. Great action sequences and silly humor just like the movie and show!
