I liked my new Leica M 10 R and 50 mm Leica lens so much that I immediately bought this 35 mm lens as well. The lenses pair perfectly with the fabulous M10R. The f-stop and focus rings are smooth as silk. The images are terrific. I would do this again. B&H photo is the best. Great customer service and knowledgeable professional personnel.

Ordered this on Sept 07, 2022 and started shooting today September 11,2022 on my Leica M 11...Outstanding! Far, far better than I expected. Crystal clear and sharp across the board.Now I'd like to add two more Leica lenses...50mm f 1.4 and 75mm also...should be an ideal kit. Worth every dollar spent for this lens and the camera. Hope to get many years of use from this. B&H helped with my first lens selection and was very good. Everything shipped on time, complete and ready to go. The M 11 exceeded my expectations too.

It isn't that the Leica 35 is engineered in house.It isn't that the Leica 35 is handmade and QC tested at critical points in the process.The Leica 35 feels like it is built like a tank.It also feels very precise in the focusing and framing of a shot.But what is so special and unique about the Leica 35 is the quality and expression of the image that makes it worth every penny of it's cost.The Leica 35mm f/2 ASPH is an incredible lens.ACM
Good lens, well-performing on all levels, but lacks character. Provides "technical" perfect pictures but doesn't "paint" your picture. I had a Zeiss Distagon 1.4/35 before and that lens was way better at "painting" my pictures with its signature look.
The Summicron-M 35 ASPH is a classic Leica M lens, one of the finest standard lenses you can buy. It is admittedly expensive, but you do get what you pay for. It is sharp, contrasty (though not overly so) and quick/easy to focus. This is a lens that can stay on your camera as a go-to walk-around lens. The build quality is first rate (smooth focusing ring and clicky aperture ring) with useful hyperfocal scale. There are quite a lot of negative comments about the hood and cap, but while it is plastic, it is of good quality and the cap actually clips on with a satisfactory click, when you put it on correctly. I havent had any problems with the hood cap not staying on. All in all, very happy with the purchase.

The "Summicron" indicates a 1:2 lens, whereas a "Summilux" is faster with 1:1,4 and a "Summarit" slower with 1:2,5. This does not give any rating on the quaility of the lens, just the apperture ratio. The Summicron version is - also IMHO - the most versatile one: Gives you enough "speed" to shoot in available light situations, small size and weight of the lens/body combination and money spent for the gem. From the pre-ASPH version, I own v3 and use this lens on a M8 digital body. Due to the cop-factor of the M8 sensor, the focal length is 46,55 , so no longer a Wideangel lens, more a "standard lens" in this specific lens-body combination, Im VERY peased with the image results, espc. shot wide open. The lens operates in its sweet spot, even at the borders of the image with nice accuray and rendering. This might change at a M9 body using a full size sensor. Build quaity is great. My lens is ruoghly 40 years old, shows some wear at the focus and aperture ring, but lenses are clear and bright. No play at both rings! smooth and fast focusing and as I stated before, shot wide open whith nice "bokeh" (You might argue thet V4 is even nicer, but I cannot compare). So in prioncipel, newer versions are to be prefered over older ones, but any lens with give you great pictures - enjoy shooting!
I have not taken this lens off for over a month now and it is my go to lens. I have the Summilux-M 1:1.4/50mm ASPH which is a great lens too, but the 35mm seems to fit every occasion. It is compact in size and the construction with the metal hood and the smooth focus ring makes for a great lens. Low light is not a problem and I can shoot wide open in bright light without exceeding the 4,000 per second max.speed under most situations. I was lucky in being able to get this lens at B&H as there was a waiting list. When they become available one should get this lens. B&H is the only place I shop for camera gear and their service has always been great.
Coming from the world of used lenses and accepting the various flaws and defects that come along with them, maybe my expectations were too low, but wow. You can feel the quality in your hands and the results do not disappoint. I have only used this with a M6, but I have been very impressed with the quality of the images I'm getting with this lens.
Outperforms the third party lenses (Voigtlander and Zeiss) I've been using on my M11. The improved sharpness with this Summicron is very evident on my M11's higher resolutions. So, I've got a couple lenses for sale ;)
