Covert Ergonomic comfort!
I’ve been wanting a pair of Trailheads for awhile, as a longtime wearer of ergonomic Altra shoes that wanted a less nerdy more casual look in a similar build for daily wear.I love that the Trailhead design doesn’t over emphasize the wider ergonomic toebox. It fits into the retro New Balance-ish aesthetic that works well for a lot of people. It is a little narrower in the toe than I would want from an ergonomically minded company, but in this suede construction with knit camp underlay, it stretches out nicely and works. The 4mm drop and cushioning are the right mix for daily wear, or for those in transition to a true zero drop minimal shoe from traditional modern athletic shoes.I hadn’t seen a neutral everyday wearable colorway I really wanted, so for my first ... Please make some nice heritage colorways or more mono-ish colorways with daily wear in mind! Think of the banger New Balance and heritage Nike colorways people flock to for casual wear.... Show more

Excellent, but need a couple small improvements
I'm on my fourth pair, these shoes are well-made with quality materials and do last far longer than everything else I was wearing before I discovered these (*with some help). Nice wide toe-box and a flat sole for old skaters. There are 2 areas that need rethinking, and that is the only reason I removed a star: 1. in the heel area there is something that rolls, so when you force your foot in and the end folds down something internally rolls and makes a lump. Sometimes it sorts itself out and sometimes it doesn't. The plastic template forming the shape breaks down into pieces, I have had to cut the fabric inside the shoes and "rebuild" this area with shoegoo, cork, foam - whatever, to maximize life of an otherwise in good-shape shoe. 2. the stitching on the top of the ... It's as if I drag the tops of the shoes on my office chair, wearing them out... but I don't. There is no reason for this stitch to fail, it must be very weak thread, more cosmetic than functional. Once this happens the shoe "looks" old and it can happen fairly quickly.... Show more

Great, almost amazing
Really enjoying these 5 months into ownership as a shoe used primarily for work as a professional photographer in a green industry. I also use these to ride my road bike (platform pedals).Pros:Mostly good. Fit is great, comfortable, true to size. I have wide feet and I do not have any issues with these. Materials feel high quality and are standing up to the test of time. Ventilation is very good and can border on too breezy while biking. I enjoyed the optional different color shoestrings.Cons:I, maybe out of user error, cannot get the tongues to stay put. They constantly migrate to the left or right side of my foot following the contour laterally down. The sole material seems a bit soft, as my platform pedals ate them up a bit, but they hold their shape ... Great shoe
Tried some new balance because I thought I might need more cushion- that gave me plantar fasciitis. These shoes are amazing- helped with my plantar fasciitis, have plenty of grip (most zero-drop/barefoot shoes have dogshit grip) and look great. They are super supportive (fits foot form well and stable in the heel) and have good pliability without being like a piece of paper. Extremely comfortable. These are not very breathable so if you're looking for a shoe to cool you down- this ain't it. Very comfortable to walk in. Laces are nice. Seems like they will last a LONG time (built super well and feel substantial without being weighty). I'm used to a slightly wider toe box but these still have plenty of room for toe spread. I love these and I'm disappointed
A shoe that can do all... Almost. I love the fit and natural feel, truly a revelation! The craftsmanship and quality are unmatched. I wanted a shoe that could kind of do it all. Something not bulky and natural feeling that I could take hiking or walking through the city and still wear to a restaurant in the evening. Unfortunately I think they're kind of a single use shoe. Dry, hiking and walking on trails. Some of the reviews had mentioned that they were slippery and I can certainly attested this, watch out!! I would never wear these on a trail with wet rocks or mud. These are not cushioned very well at all and I understand that is the way they are designed. Hard to find a balance between the natural feel and too much cushion. Maybe not for everything...... Show more

One major flaw
I bought these for the wider toe box to relieve my bunion pain and they’ve done just that. For the most part, these are fairly comfortable but there is one flaw with them. After a few weeks of wearing them, whatever material in the heel cushion is started flipping out and becoming deformed under the fabric. Now I am one to leave my shoes pre-tied and have slipped them on and off my whole life, but I’ve never had a pair of shoes do this before. It started with only one heel, then eventually the other started doing it. You can kinda fix it temporarily by working it back down with your finger but it comes right back up/out. I can’t tell if it’s plastic or cardboard but it’s incredibly annoying and kinda hoped for more durability out of the design. With that said, if ... With that said, if you lace them up every time and leave your heel enough room to not slide along that part as you put them on, you should be fine. Like I said before, these have definitely provided relief for my bunion/foot pain.... Show more

Pretty close
I have been eying these shoes for awhile. When they first came in, admittedly, I was on the fence on whether to keep or not. After a month or so I have found these are my go-to shoe. I think what at first kept my from loving them, is what I like best. They do not necessarily excel in any way, but that's what makes them a great all around shoe. The are slightly heavier than I would prefer, but overall reasonably weighted. Not quite athletic enough for running, not quite heavy duty enough for regular hikers. But overall they great walking shoes, rugged enough for light hikes, stylish enough to wear out after your adventure, and sturdy enough to wear out on the bike. We have kids and take them on a lot of light adventures, walk to school, short hikes, hop on the bike ... MoreI have been eying these shoes for awhile. We have kids and take them on a lot of light adventures, walk to school, short hikes, hop on the bike for a few miles, go out to eat on the way home. These shoes tackle these multi-mini-adventure days very well. I also think they would be great travel shoes for the same reason. I love that these are made in 4mm drop. I would really like to see Lems make more models with the 4mm. I have some other brand 0 drop shoes, and I think this is a great compromise between traditional and minimalist shoes. Sizing note, I usually run between 8 and 8.5 depending on the brand, and I think that's right where I would fall in this model. I went with the 8.5 and they may be ever so slightly big, but I think the 8 would have been too small. The larger size is just right for the casual wear.... Show more

Probably the best shoes I've ever bought
I bought these about two months ago and I adore them. Followed advice and ordered a half size up, and I'm glad I did. These were the first shoes I've had in years that fit me perfectly right out of the box, had no break-in period at all, and have never given me blisters. I have some pronounced foot issues, and many of them have disappeared since I started wearing these.I bought them for hiking on a trip to New Mexico, and they were champs the whole time. I've hiked at least fifty miles back home in a rocky/wet area of New England since then, and they continue to be awesome. The only small drawback is that they don't seem to dry quickly. Really, that's it. I hope they come out with more colors, as I will definitely be getting another pair or two, just so I have them ... MoreI bought these about two months ago and I adore them. Seem a bit wider
I have purchased these shoes in the past, and they have never fit in the forefoot area. I have normal feet, if not on the narrower side, and I have had to return them. They would pinch my pinky toe. Going up a 1/2 size, in the past, made the shoe too long for me. I decided to give these a try again thinking "maybe" they have changed somewhat. I do not know if they have or not, but this time around they did fit. I ordered up 1/2 size just for kicks, and it is actually the correct length. So, I am not sure if it is the 1/2 size up that helped because they fit like my normal size of 9 in all other Lems shoes, or, if they are just a bit wider, or I happened to luck out and got a pair that just plain fits. Either way, I am glad they finally fit because I needed a pair of ... MoreI have purchased these shoes in the past, and they have never fit in the forefoot area. Either way, I am glad they finally fit because I needed a pair of trail shoes where I could feel the ground. They have just enough cushion not to hurt the bottoms of your feet, but not enough so you can't feel the ground. And the very low heel to toe drop is phenomenal. It is all I wear anymore. I have several of Lems shoes and just LOVE them!... Show more

Very comfortable, slightly messy finish
I’ve had these a few days now and they are just what I wanted. I’d say this shoe falls somewhere in the middle of minimal and sturdy. I was looking for a light hiker just like this. My only problem is that there are stains on the soles. It looks to be glue residue or something like that. I specifically got the moonlit moss color because I really don’t like the speckled outsoles of the other colors, but yet I ended up with residue on them anyway. I contacted customer service and they advised rubbing alcohol to clean it off, but that didn’t work. It’s not a huge deal, because I plan on hiking in these anyway and it won’t be noticeable after awhile. But in the short term, it is disappointing. But it is a little hiccup that I wanted to put in the review, which is the only reason I deducted a star.... Show more
