I had the Gen 1 version of this tablet and sold it after a few months, because it was just too slow. When reading the newspaper over the web, pages would take 10 or 15 sec to settle down, because time needed to adjust the layout as images loaded. I've had this for a few days now and the tablet itself is smooth, responsive with a great screen. But the frustration around accessories and the slowness/freezing of lenovo.com website is making me want to return.First, listed as a compatible accessory on the tablet page and in the checkout process is the Precision Pen 3. The pen refuses to pair despite following the instructions (photos attached). It's a worthless $55 (on sale) accessory that I now have to return.Second, the specs advertise a 2-1 keyboard sold separately, but that simply does not exist. I would like one but Lenovo doesn't sell it despite it being on this tablet's description. Even if you leave it unplugged overnight it will most likely be dead when you wake.Issue #2: Random Wi-Fi disconnections. More than once daily, the tablet will stop connection and you have to manually connect it.Issue #3: Despite promising updates up to android 14, Lenovo has still not updated to android 13, nearly a year later.Issue #4: Locked bootloader. Most of these issues could be fixed by rooting and installing non-Lenovo android 13. The 120hz screen really isn't a big plus for me, but it's there.On the downside, I'm still getting used to Lenovo's productivity mode where apps launch in little windows. I don't think I'm a fan, but maybe that will change over time. Better yet, hopefully an Android 12L update will launch soon in the US.There are also some other software quirks where HBO Go wouldn't play video and I had to restart. Also, the Entertainment Space lacks a searchbar, which makes it pretty useless.I don't intend on using it for teleconferencing or filming, so I don't really care about the cameras. Also, the lack of a fingerprint scanner doesn't bother me.For media consumption, web browsing, and light word processing, the tablet 100% fits my needs at a price that's reasonable. While it doesn't offer the same software longevity as a Chromebook, I'm satisfied with the promise of up to Android 14 and regular security updates. All in all, this device is a total winner. I want to love this tablet. Speakers are great, screen is beautiful, color saturation could be better. However, there is issues with Bluetooth that doesn't allow me to listen to audio over Bluetooth headphones at the same time as using the tablet's microphone. The Bluetooth and graphics driver's are not polished. The Bluetooth issues are a deal breaker as it doesn't allow voice chat in games like Call of Duty. When you unmute the microphone in game the audio disconnects from Bluetooth and starts playing over the tablet speakers.If I open the game while my headphones are connected, the game crashes. I have to disconnect the headphones, open the game, THEN open Bluetooth settings to reconnect my Beats headphones.As I can't find any solution to this and Lenovo has ... MoreI want to love this tablet. I did enjoy the tab for browsing the internet and found it super usable for less processing-heavy functions! Unfortunately, it didn't meet the primary reason I purchased it, so I had to return the pen and the tab.And here.... here my friends is where the problems began. Lenovo completely butchered the return, they only sent me back the money for the precision pen, and my dispute to get the $250 I paid for the tab (I purchased during the black Friday Sale) is still open when I write this 6 months later. I have contacted their returns team at least 5 times on this, and it still has not been processed.I have loved Lenovo products for years, and honestly think for the price point this is a pretty good tablet. But just be aware that if you do need to return an item you likely won't get your money back. I would purchase from a secondary seller to protect yourself.
I am not a tablet guy. I don't like tablets as a general rule. They've been awkward, bulky, never quite sat well in my hands, and the android ones have been chronically underpowered devices with poor support and worse vendor cruft. This is the first not-and-Apple-mini tablet I've used that I didn't immediately hate, and that says something.The Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 uses Android 12, has a Kompanio 1300T processor, and 6GiB of RAM. The closest device I have available to me for comparison is my phone, which uses Android 11, has a Snapdragon 660 processor, and also has 6GiB of RAM. The performance difference is stark enough that the only comparison I have is that moment when you first update a PC with a mechanical hard drive to an SSD, or switch your heavily multi-user server over to NVMe.Shockingly, the tablet isn't heavy or uncomfortable. It's awkward, and I am hoping that one day I'll get a case that remediates this by allowing me to stand the tablet up in various configurations...but I don't notice a practical difference in weight versus my phone.What shocks me the most, however, is how close to AOSP the Android experience is. Defanging the Lenovo bloat to the point that it's at least "out of sight" is surprisingly easy. I might personally have made different choices regarding default settings, but it only took me about 1/2 hr to configure the device to my needs, and that's far better than any other Android device I've used thus far.In all...this is a good device, well configured, with the right compromises made, at a price that is VERY competitive with peer devices from other vendors. My compliments to the product manager(s), engineers, and all the other teams involved in pushing this unit to market!
