This is a very good laptop at a fair price that will meet the needs of most people in most situations. I purchased it primarily for work and school, and it fills those roles well. Especially with the new aspect ratio for the screen (16:10 vs. the old 16:9), I feel a big change from the widescreen standard of yesteryear. The ThinkPad seems nice.It is lighter than I thought it would be.It blows out hotter air (from the right side) than I though it would.I wish it had an SD memory slot (I missed that before buying it).The CTRL and FN are stupidly backwards - but I bought stickers on Amazon and changed their position in the BIOS to make them 'normal'. Unfortunately, they don't have backlight like the rest of the keys.I like that you can reverse the Fn/Lock definition in the BIOS (which everybody should do).I would have liked the 'right click' on the trackpad to have been further to the right of the pad, so I wouldn't hit it so often (this makes transitioning from an HP painful, and would be better for Lenovo users too).This is after about a week of use.

Great machine. This equipment is extremely fast. I have many applications that I use it for. It runs all of my software for the CNC machine. Stencil machine and cad design software all running at the same time with no interruptions. I would always run into lag with my other computersThe download time and installation takes seconds. I brought it to work and to of my coworkers were so impressed that one of them purchased that day. The sleek design and the outer material is soft which makes it not slippery. I didn't even realize it had a touch screen.

I use a lot of virtual machines, containers, and other power hungry applications on my laptop and needed a system that could handle it. At the same time, I needed something that was portable and I could carry with me and use on the go -- preferably 14 inches or smaller as the 15 inch laptops can be unwieldy on airplanes and other places. The T14 Intel fit the bill with the reputation, testing, and reliability of a Thinkpad.Overall, it's a great laptop. Only two cons I have are that the battery life could be longer and that the laptop occasionally freezes until I put it in and out of standby -- still trying to find the cause of the freezing issue.
I am very happy with this machine. I was skeptical about things I'd heard about the heat of the Intel processors and keyboard redesign (less key travel, apparently). I would have taken an AMD version if I could have gotten the 400 nit low-power screen with it but that wasn't offered when I was ready. I got the standard i5 processor and am very very happy with the results. I have no heat problems running the machine on my lap (I'm a writer - the machine is used for writing, a few graphics, research and watching videos). The keyboard feels like the traditional superior Thinkpad keyboard to me and the build quality feels much more solid than my previous T490 and T470. I honestly love the Gen 3 T14 ThinkPad. I use it for school work and it has everything I need. It is completely versatile and easy to use and set up. The touch screen is useful, it is light weight and doesn't weigh down my backpack, and everything loads up and moves quickly - which is very helpful. My only complaint would be the red mouse-like controller in the middle of the computer. I have no idea what it is for and it is not useful to me at all, but I believe you can take that off when placing your order. Overall I would recommend this to anyone, especially students and people in the work force.

Finding your way though the support phone tree is baffling. I've owned three linux laptops, bought from a linux-focused company. Lenovo doesn't come close to their support model. On the other hand, if you're willing to cough up an extra 10% you can buy the premier support and probably get more help if you need it.-Thunderbolt is, I think, workable, maybe, if you're patient and have tolerance for emerging technology. At first the dock and the computer didn't work at all. Finally a tech had me reboot the firmware via a pin-hole access on the bottom of the laptop, and that fixed it, mostly. But for my money, a $260 peripheral should work all the time, not 85%. Makes me nuts, but that's just me.Over all, I'm happy with the device and SWSNBN will be happy, too.
My order of ThinkPad T14 Gen 3 Intel (14") is super easy and fast shipped. This laptop work well and very quick. It has a lot of useful ports for my other devices (headset, USB hard diver, etc). I am very happy that it connects my old Cannon laser printer without any issue. So far everything looks great without any issues. The reason I brought this machine since it has very good reputation for reliability. I will continue to monitor how reliable it is in the following months.
The battery life is awful and the build quality is okay at best. The machine is simply unimpressive. The BIOS is proprietary which sucks. I'd prefer an open BIOS. The speakers are okay as far as laptops go. The ThinkPad logo and red light make me happy for some reason but the rest of the machine is lacking. I'm young and never got to experience the old ThinkPads but that is the type of machine I was hoping for. What I got is clearly a pathetic attempt at a business quality laptop. The battery can't be swapped (which is necessary given how disgustingly pathetic the battery life is.) My five year old laptop gets twice the battery life easily. They should have just retired ThinkPad and called these something different. This is a 1967 Impala vs 2000's Impala situation.
I've never owned a Lenovo before so didn't know what to think. I am ingoring the absolutely uninspired design of the case (I know, it's a business laptop). But I thought that for $1500 the screen was mediocre (even though I upgraded). And the speakers? Fuhgeddaboudit. They are shocking poor sound quality for a $1500 machine. And the software available to "improve" the sound can't add richness where the equipment can't supply it. There are $350 consumer laptops with richer sounding speakers. Obviously speakers are cheap. Put some better ones in your ThinkPads, Lenovo. Crazy, I know, but the speakers are ultimately why I returned the laptop.
