It comes with no instructions of any kind and since I did a trial on the box previously I thought I was good to go. Not so fast. Although the problem isn't Lenovo's it is the reason for a 4 star rating. It turns out you can not walk away from your laptop in startup mode. Real people, no bots, and quick pick up and qualified support technicians that speak English as a native language which cuts down on the forever back and forth 6) high quality : the box just feels right and the 2 in 1 works well although I will need some additional help as windows 11 is so much different than 10 the tablet function is proving time consuming to use at the moment.

For the Yoga series which I have had for years my computer never showed any updates through the Vantage software, but luckily, I signed up for email notifications and was able to get updates through the website. Also Thinkpad comes with windows Pro vs home which has some features that are helpful when doing trouble shooting. So those things are nice

While the price tag drop was pretty significant, which is what attracted me to this model, aside from the features that I felt spoke to me, I wonder if its "not so hardiness" had anything to do with it. Safe to say, it still computes away, and the touchscreen is very much functional, which was a concern upon seeing the hinge default. Nevertheless, with any investment, especially anything above $1K, I would expect all the bang for my buck! So, through this review, (or perhaps a little insistence through Customer Service), I would expect to get some options to rectifying this hiccup in quality, mostly getting a replacement.

I am a 20+ years Thinkpad user (way back from IBM Thinkpad 560), and have never seen such 'always on' fan! I have 32GB memory, so OS not constantly swapping things from memory to/from HD! Not much of a nuisance, but still a hassle to constantly go back and forth when I connect/disconnect from ext monitor.5. I still cannot get over the fact that the Up and Down arrow keys are NOT centered on their respective keys! :-)6. There was also another unfortunate issue where after running the on-board Lenovo diagnostics to fully check the laptop had resulted in some light burn-in on the display when I booted back into Windows -- the results screen with the green bars to indicate that the hardware passed were still visible when the screen showed bright/light content like the Google Search homepage. These issues were likely all specific to the laptop I received, but there were also some problems that are more universal to this generation of ThinkPad. The laptop gets really hot. When I first set up the laptop and ran Windows updates I attempted to touch the aluminum enclosure above the function keys and near the USB-C port by the escape key where the laptop was charging and actually lightly burned my finger. This did not get any better when Windows was fully set up as the function key row, number key row, and qwerty key row had keys that were uncomfortable to touch with how hot the laptop could get. The issue seems to come from the Intel processor that is used in this generation and how thin the laptop is -- there isn't enough cooling in place to keep these temperatures down. Another issue was with the battery life on the OLED model. I was not expecting a long life, but seemingly with anything other than Windows dark mode and brightness above 50% the battery drained way too fast. I really, really wanted to like this laptop as the aluminum enclosure felt pretty sturdy and the Storm Grey color scheme with the red Lenovo accents is absolutely gorgeous, however I could not continue using the laptop for more than 5 days before returning. I hope Lenovo can re-evaluate this generation of ThinkPad and can release an improved product in the near future -- although I would absolutely love to get my hands on an X1 Carbon with better thermal management in this splendid Space Grey aluminum enclosure/color style.
I got this laptop for a little over two months now and I am very pleased with it.I got the top spec'd model, and performance is great as well as the 4K OLED screen. I would have preferred a matte display but although it's glossy, it's barely reflective.Keyboard is great! Definitely one of the best I used on any laptop.Aluminum chassis is sturdy and lightweight.It's the best size for a laptop, portable, yet comfortable (screen and keyboard).Although it's nice to have and integrated pen, the pen itself is not very good. It's way too slim and short and the buttons are barely usable. The reason I went for the X1 Yoga vs the X1 carbon is mainly the display and the space grey finish which attract less fingerprints.I also love the selection of ports for such a thin laptop.Although not as big as it could be, the trackpad leaves enough of room and feels great. I am not a user of the trackpoint and I initially didn't like it but I grew accustomed to that red accent in the middle of the keyboard.Performance is very good and although not a gaming laptop, I can play games with very decent graphics and good FPS. The fans kick in quickly and are audible, but not too loud to be disturbing either. The laptop bottom gets warm, but it's bearable when on the lap. As I use it on a desk most of the time, this is not an issue for me as keyboard and palm rest stay cool. However, this could be an issue to users who mostly use their laptops on their lap.Battery life with the OLED is about 3-4 hours when gaming or watching a video. It's not great, but for me it's just fine as I never need to use it more than that off my desk. I think you could stretch the use time beyond that with more power efficient settings.My wife owns a Macbook Pro 13 which is arguably one of the best laptops and it is indeed a great machine. From the get-go, the lack of needed software and games in MacOS was a dealbreaker for me, but I was looking for something similar in terms of performance, portability and quality. In my opinion, the X1 is just that and more. The only spot where the Macbook really outshines the X1 is on battery life. Its also quieter and cooler. On paper the Macbook offers better performance, but in real life use I can't notice the difference and, for the same price and size, I have a way bigger hard drive (8x), more ram, better keyboard and bigger and better screen.If you are a Windows and/or Linux, that needs a great ultra-portable with the best choice in software and games to do everything you need and want, I highly recommend the X1.
