Its performance in gaming is good in my experience, like Minecraft bedrock edition working just fine at 80 fps+. Productivity applications, like Krita, work well although I would've tested it more but I'll get into detail later. The build quality is good with a premium feel to the chassis, the keyboard being the best keyboard I have interacted with. A minor gripe I had is that you have to enter ‘total shutdown’ which requires me to hold the power button for ten seconds. If I didn't, LED lights would continue to pulsate on the sides of the laptop to indicate it’s in sleep mode which would be annoying in my dark room attempting to sleep. But other than that I would've given it 5 stars, HOWEVER, the main crux of the reason why I gave the laptop 2 stars is because of the promised software I was supposed to be given which is one of the reasons I got this laptop. Specifically the journey to get this software has been a long and strung out ordeal, as of the writing of this review I have not gotten the promised 2 month free trial/membership of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite of software. The amount of back and forth of calls with customer support has been unideal and the time span has been, in my point of view, long. As of writing the review on July 22nd 2024 (for context I got the laptop on the 5th of July) it has been 2 weeks and half of attempting to show that I was promised a 2 month membership. I have given photos and given updates on new problems that I encounter. Customer service said they will bring the case up to management and they’ll notify me on updates. If you want to understand in depth the issue it is that the Lenovo Vantage application that comes with the laptop doesn’t display the Adobe Membership plan on the software tab of the app that I would’ve applied on a new or preexisting Adobe account. Furthermore at some point I was unable to reach the software tab of the Lenovo and I have no idea why. My best guess is that it could’ve been Lenovo attempting to fix the problem or just some weird bug but it still persists. If you’d like a greater understanding of why I put so much weight into the software is it because of the fact that I’m a university student doing STEM and communication technology. Moreover, I was planning to go on learning graphic design and practicing my Illustrator abilities, also testing the capabilities of the laptop for productivity and if it could handle it. Since I had some previous experience in my highschool, learning and doing projects on the adobe suite from photo editing and video editing and graphic art and illustrations. By being promised and unable to use the Adobe Creative Suite promised by Lenovo it took away one of the main reasons why I want this laptop in the first place which is to create. Which is why I have given the Yoga 7 2 in-1 14” laptop a 2 out of 5 stars, just know that if there’s any updates I’ll gladly change this review.

Overall, I like this laptop. It's an upgrade from my 10-year old Thinkpad Yoga 14. In terms of built quality, it's quite solid, though compared to my older laptop Thinkpad Yoga, it seems more flimsy. I don't know how the current Thinkpads are. I'd assume they are still more superior in terms of built quality. It's a pity that the 14'' version only has 1 USB port, but it's possible to work around it. I've had the laptop for less than a month at the time of writing this. In terms of performance, it's been alright, as expected. There are however a few things which are rather annoying hence a 4-star rating:1. the Enter button is rather slim and takes a bit of getting used to;2. the on/off button on the right hand side can bother as it results in accidentally turning ... MoreOverall, I like this laptop. Takes a bit of getting used to not adjust the monitor by the upper left and right corners;4. the right-side Control button is replaced by Co-pilot button. While having Co-pilot is very helpful, for those who use a lot of shortcuts with Control button, it's going to be a struggle. This is still quite frustrating, frankly speaking.5. the camera - this is a big disappointment for me. I was hoping that with the upgrade to my laptop, I'd be able to use the laptop for Teams and Google Meets calls. However I show up as with some strange pink-ish tone. I've tried with different light conditions. The issue still remains. And for comparison, with all conditions being equal, I don't get that issue when connected from my iPhone 11. So camera is a let down really.Apart from the above points, the laptop has been fine so far. The keyboard is a bit more noisy than the one on my old laptop, however it still feels good to use, is rather smooth and responsive. Ah, and I do miss the trackpoint on the keyboard, which is interesting, as I thought I wasn't actually using it as much. The laptop is lightweight, mine is ca 1.5kg and overall looks slim and cozy.

The online guides are not comprehensive and it is nigh on impossible to determine what pen has been supplied and how to change its settings. Despite a lot of searching I have got no further than getting the pen to be recognised by the touch screen. I can find no instruction on how to set the side buttons nor get any response to them. Online reports suggest that this is a common problem which I would have thought Lenevo would want to fix rather than have disgruntled customers and diminished reviews. The OLED screen is superb and the brightness and quality are sufficient to compensate for its limited resolution in this 14 inch model. The fold back arrangement to convert to picture frame or tablet mode works smoothly but the fast processor generates a great deal of heat so it is essential to ensure that the vents on the hinge edge are not blocked. You will get quite warm knees if you use it on your lap!The keyboard is positive and fairly quiet but there is no numeric pad for spreadsheet users in this 14 inch model. Once in tablet mode, a screen keyboard appears smoothly whenever the system recognises and input field though it it quite large probably and takes over more of the screen that is necessary.I prefer the physical shutter over the camera to an electronic version - you can see that its closed. The sound is not this machine's best point. It's alright, but in comparison with what can be done with phones in much smaller boxes this falls short. The speakers are alongside the keyboard facing up so if tablet mode is in use they are facing away, possibly onto a surface so further weakening the indifferent sound. It will be fine for meetings etc and ad hoc personal use, but this isn't the machine for someone who wants a degree of quality for regular listening to music unless, that said, it is linked it to external speakers or buds where the Realtek card with Dolby spatial enhancement does a good job.I bought this heavily discounted in a July event weekend and I think that £699 was a very good deal and the machine is worth that money. I am not so convinced of its value for money at the previously listed £1,000 or so.

Review of LENOVO Yoga 7 14 2 in 1 Laptop - Intel®® Core™ Ultra 7 512 GB SSD Tidal Teal

I love the 2-in-1 with touchscreen, I use it in tablet mode all the time for casual stuff (streaming video, browsing web). Picture quality is excellent thanks to OLED screen. 16:10 aspect ratio gives slightly more room for reading and programming. The laptop is has a powerful intel core ultra 7, I am able to play Minecraft with 60fps no shaders. Thunderbolt connections allow me to use this with an external gpu so I can run deep neural networks on this thing (the neural processor of the ultra 7 is slightly lacking for this to be honest). I was able to run Stable Diffusion for HD quality images but note that this requires an egpu (I used a 1080ti 11gb). Audio quality of the built in speakers is surprisingly good, obviously not as good as dedicated speakers but uses Dolby Atmos which definitely helps. Doesn’t come with too much bloatware and I actually kept Lenovo Vantage for the occasional battery health checkup. Battery with light-to-medium use (watching videos, multiple browser tabs) is about 4-8 hours. Backlit keyboard is great for working in the dark, the screen can also go quite dim which helps reduce eye strain. There is a physical built-in webcam cover for privacy. This laptop feels smooth to use, unlike some other supposedly performant laptops (Asus Vivobook S15 felt chuggy). This thing can run quite hot with normal use unless you put it in battery saver mode, then it runs nice and cool and for light use I don’t notice any significant loss in performance. The build quality of this machine is excellent too, metal chassis feels very sturdy. One thing I wish was better is some kind of glare-reduction on the display, I find it quite reflective in brighter environments. Overall I am incredibly impressed and will be sticking with Lenovo for future Laptops!

In the last week my other daughters machine has completely died as well, just a black screen, This machine is also approximately only 4 months old. Do not buy this or any other Lenovo machine. Complete garbage, low quality product with terrible customer support. Save your money!

This laptop is fabulous, and is all around a very powerful laptop. I got this laptop for college and it has been great. First the ryzen 8000 derided processor with the 780m igpu and npu has been great. The processor is great at handling any tasks I through at it. The 780m igpu is great and runs some of my older games great, like bioshock, at its native 1920x1200 resolution and at 60 fps. And the npu is great for doing any ai task. The 16 gb of ram is also great and enough and fast so I’m able to load into applications fast while also having multiple tabs running all at once. The include 1 terabyte of storage is lightning fast is great for storing all my files and games on it. The include 1 terabyte of storage is lightning fast is great for storing all my files and games on it. The battery life is great and I usually see myself getting around 7-8 hours on one charge. It also charges fast on the included usb c charger. The only gripe I have about it is the 1920x1200 ips display it’s good but not great and it being 2024 this laptop should come standard with at least a 2k 120hz screen. But Lenovo does offer an oled model, which looks better but it is a little more expensive. The port selection is nice and has 2 usbc ports, a hdmi port, usb port, a headphone Jack, and a micro sd slot as well. I like that this laptop has support for windows hello and has a fingerprint scanner as well. The laptop is nice and light and never gets loud at all and the fans barely spin while browsing and do not get to load while playing games. Also for being an all metal design it never gets unbearably hot and barely gets warm to the touch under a heavy load. The 2in1 feature is great and makes watching movies and taking notes a breeze. The touchscreen is responsive and has no problems at all. Finally the speakers are amazing they get nice and loud and the audio is always clear. Overall this laptop is a great bang for buck at this price and with amazing build quality and performance this laptop is great at balancing everyday task and a little bit of light gaming. This laptop is great for a person looking for a new laptop or laptop for school.

12 July 2024

I've used MacBook laptops exclusively for my entire life and I've realized that having a MacBook can be such a headache, especially since, after a period of time, they slow down due to the high amounts of read and writes on the SSD caused by memory swap technologies. This Lenovo laptop, unfortunately, does have soldered memory, but 16GB is far more than enough. On top of that, the SSD is not soldered, meaning that after a period of time, instead of getting a new laptop because of decreased OS speeds, you can just pop in a new SSD for less than $100.The screen on this laptop is amazing. It says it's 2K, but it's actually more like in between 1080p and 1440p. That doesn't matter because it is an OLED display, which means insanely accurate images and colors. The CPU could be comparable to the likes of the Intel i5 13th gen, but this version of the Ryzen 7 gen 8 is a lower wattage, which means that it isn't the strongest. Still, the CPU is more than capable of handling almost any task. I got it on sale for $649, and I believe it is a fantastic price for a reliable laptop. It's much better than any MacBook or other Windows-based laptop for its price.

[Rewarded Review] Delivers on most, but not all, promises
21 August 2024

Overall, the Yoga 9i delivers on many, but not all, of it's promises.Pros:- The display (even 2.8k) is gorgeous- Everything runs quick and as expected- Usually it is relatively cool and quiet- The tablet functionality, though it takes some getting used to, is very effective for classwork etc, especially with the office suite- The pen stays on really well and feels nice in your hand; the palm rejection is fantastic and well-integrated- The keyboard is phenomenal (aside from the issue I mention below)- nice ports selection given the size- Windows hello is very effectiveCons- The battery life is wayyyy worse than advertised (6-8 hours in contrast to the 12-14 advertised and the 17 on the PC Mag review), even with the worse 2.8k screen instead of the 4k and ... MoreOverall, the Yoga 9i delivers on many, but not all, of it's promises.Pros:- The display (even 2.8k) is gorgeous- Everything runs quick and as expected- Usually it is relatively cool and quiet- The tablet functionality, though it takes some getting used to, is very effective for classwork etc, especially with the office suite- The pen stays on really well and feels nice in your hand; the palm rejection is fantastic and well-integrated- The keyboard is phenomenal (aside from the issue I mention below)- nice ports selection given the size- Windows hello is very effectiveCons- The battery life is wayyyy worse than advertised (6-8 hours in contrast to the 12-14 advertised and the 17 on the PC Mag review), even with the worse 2.8k screen instead of the 4k and with low power mode on both in lenovo and windows the whole time- The fans do get a bit loud and the bottom a bit hot (especially noticeable in tablet mode) when running any sort of intensive (or graphical) software like video editing, fusion, blender, etc- The placement of the right column is rather annoying, as I end up accidentally hitting the mode switch button when trying to do backspace; the power button location on the side of the computer is also problematic, as I end up accidentally clicking it too- The copilot button replacing ctrl is just plain annoying- The display's brightness leaves a bit to be desired; it struggles in moderately sunny environments. I find myself using almost full brightness all the time just to see anything at all.Overall, all that being said, this is a compromise - when you go for strong specs in a small profile, you end up with moderate battery life. When you go for a brand new PC with fancy features, you end up dealing with some goofy "new buttons" and stuff. I'm not sure I would get a better combo of features elsewhere, though I might have gone for a cheaper, older version without the copilot nonsense if I weren't hoping for something to last me close to a decade (fingers crossed). All in all, I got this to last me a long time as a college laptop, and I think it will do so, even though it has its issues and will probably necessitate me carrying an external battery pack all over. I also got the protection plan, so if the internal battery does go to trash, I will be able to get it replaced. Maybe I would recommend the HP Spectre x14 over this, but honestly, I think both will end up giving you a very similar experience for the pricepoint - and certainly the price is far cheaper than something similar like the MS Surface Pro. I can't say it's the best purchase I've ever made, but it is very very far from the worst.

I did my research for a laptop for college, i didn’t justify breaking the bank on a laptop so i thought Lenovo was good and this laptop would be too. I. WAS. WRONG. Let’s start with the basics; when you press turn off the laptop goes into hibernation, it does not turn off meaning your battery? If it was at 100 last night the next day it’ll be at 40%. I updated it and it went wrong, it started asking me for a recovery key every time the laptop would “turn off” no matter if i did or did not try to update it. The fan is at the bottom, the computer is bound to overheat, and for the 4 modes it has it’s useless because the speakers are in the front, no matter how much you increase the volume it won’t ever be enough. The laptop has a two week return window OF COURSE IT ... MoreI did my research for a laptop for college, i didn’t justify breaking the bank on a laptop so i thought Lenovo was good and this laptop would be too. The laptop has a two week return window OF COURSE IT DOES, this laptop broke literally a month after purchasing it. No fall, no liquid damage, and no installments (software things like RAM or processors) the PC would turn on but the display would not show. I was told to contact Lenovo so they would send a new one over, but their customer service is as bad as the laptop itself. Not helpful at all, they would only offer to fix it and send it back (meaning it’s at risk of the same thing happening again and i have to pay for the repair next time) instad of being helpful they tried selling me another warranty THAT DOESNT EVEN OFFER TO REPLACE THE LAPTOP IN CASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. Not to mention it takes over a month to repair and i have to go to college without a laptop. THANK YOU SO MUCH LENOVO!!!

[Rewarded Review] Fun in a laptop
13 October 2024

After about 4 months of using the Lenovo Yoga 7 nearly daily, I'm very impressed. I bought the Ryzen 7 version with 16gb of ram. I wouldn't use a Windows computer with only 8gb of ram and expect it to function well for the life of the product. Battery life could be better, but I'm never far from a plug and don't charge it over 80%. I'm guessing you'd get 6-8 hours of writing on a full charge. Most everything works great! The track pad is big and responsive, the keys are backlit and have a good feel to them. The screen is 16:10 ratio, so it's a little taller which is great for writing documents and reading (though I prefer a 3:2 ratio). The speakers could be better, though I typically dock my laptop at a desk with different speakers or use my headphone. Also, the screen lack solid color saturation. I'm not a screen expert, but the colors are clearly washed out. It's also not a 2k screen as implicated in the title, only 1080p. My other laptop is a 2k screen and the difference in clarity and resolution is night and day. While the speakers and screen are a bummer, the performance makes up for it (especially if you dock it to a monitor and speakers). The laptop is quick! The Ryzen 7 8840hs, paired with 16 gb ram, is snappy and performative. I haven't played many PC games in a while, but with this laptop I can play almost anything that's released recently, as long as I use low settings on the really intensive stuff. Games like Counter-Strike 2, Fortnite, and Rocket League work incredibly well, even on medium settings.Should you get this laptop? If you need a solid convertible for school or work, didn't car to much about speakers and screen, and want the option for some light gaming, this is the laptop for you. It's on sale regularly, so wait if you don't see one happening (I got mine for $649 US).
