Amazing value IF on sale - otherwise, buy the 27GL850-B

The GN850-B doesn't appear to be available in Canada, the GL850-B is pricey, and the GL83A-B was sold out. I noticed that a few sites had stocked a new model, which was the GN800-B, and I decided to go with it because it's almost the same as the LG 27GL83A-B in terms of specs but with a cheaper stand. Also, it was on sale for a considerable discount. I ended up saving over $200 by buying the GN800-B over the GL850-B. Imight've gotten lucky, as I've read on Reddit that the QC isn't as good for anything lower tier than the GL850-B model, but either way the monitor didn't have any dead pixels. Note that you will need to carefully adjust the settings to get a look that you like. If you haven't used an IPS gaming monitor before, you should expect a bright glow with vivid colors. However, you should also expect a poor contrast ratio and lackluster blacks / dark areas in games. The stand can only be adjusted for tilt. I recommend you consider a VESA mount setup if you're going with this model. I'm using the stand for now but I had to place it on top of a box in order to raise the height and keep it level with the maximum height on my other 27" monitor.

An “OKAY” monitor

Overall an okay monitor. I ended up returning this monitor and buying the lg gp83b-b. The gn 800-b isn’t terrible but the backlight bleed was so bad. I would recommend spending a little more and getting something that has better colors and a better stand. The anti glare coating on the 800-b was also worse then any monitor I’ve seen. The screen constantly looked slightly blurry to me because of it. All in all it’s and okay monitor and if you can get it on a big sale I would buy it. However I personally would spend the extra $50 and get something with better ergonomics and better colors, as I keep my monitors for three years minimum and look at it as an investment.

Crisp and Clean 1440p Display Cant beat the Price

This is my first 1440p monitor for gaming/unreal engine 5 development and let me tell you the jump from 1080p to 1440p is incredible. I have a LG TV and have always liked their products. For 1440p at 144hz the price is also really good. The display is crisp, clean, and responsive. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the stand. It comes with a screw on stand and it is just not very adjustable. I think the 165hz model comes with a better stand, I wish they would have put the same stand on this model. Regardless so far it has been a fantastic monitor and I very much recommend it.

Excellent Gaming Monitor, A Couple Qualms
19 November 2022

This monitor really excelled at anything thrown at it, doing an especially great job of handling motion (ghosting, overshoot). HDR was a bit lackluster due to its relatively low peak brightness but not terrible. If you go with this monitor, make sure you check the amount of backlight bleed (mine had a borderline bothersome amount in each corner). Some panels will be affected by this more than others, and likewise some people may find it more distracting in darker scenes than others. Personal preference at the end of the day but worth determining before you can’t change your mind!

Good, with some issues
11 July 2021

Overall, this is a decent display. I got two of them as I didn't want mismatching monitors. One of them has some moderate backlight bleed in the upper right hand corner. I can live with it as you can really only see it when there's solid black on the display (and I'm used to monitors with even worse bleed). It's a little irritating, but not totally unexpected with an IPS display. I'd return it, but it isn't bad enough for me to really worry that much, and I'm concerned I'd get one that might be worse.Fortunately, I got no dead pixels and both monitors were relatively well calibrated out of the box. I didn't have to set G-Sync up or anything--just worked as soon as I plugged them in. My only other complaint is the stand. I really had to tighten down the screws rather hard to get one of the displays not to wobble. I was a little worried I was going to break something, but it eventually turned out ok.Despite the issues listed above, the display works great for gaming. I'm coming from a 1080P display at 75hz, so this was a big upgrade for me. I didn't think it would be as pronounced, but I was wrong. The increase in smoothness in gameplay is absolutely noticeable. Even moving windows around on the desktop is smoother.

Great Monitor at a Great Price
8 August 2022

I absolutely love LG TV's since their panels are just a notch above the rest. I'm super glad to see that LG takes the same time and care to make sure their Monitors get the same attention to detail. I swapped from an old 1080p 60hz monitor and OH MY GOSH it's night and day! The 144hc Refresh Rate is incredibly smooth with very very little trailing or artifacting and the 1440p upgrade just makes everything POP when gaming or even typing emails for work. G-Sync is definitely a welcome addition I have experienced zero screen tearing even when running at or slightly above 144 fps! This monitor was a very welcome addition to my setup and if your considering it it would probably make a great addition to yours!

Whether I was exploring vast open worlds or engaging in fast-paced multiplayer battles, the visuals were crisp and detailed, bringing my games to life. One of the standout features of this monitor is its G-SYNC compatibility. The adaptive sync technology ensures that the monitor's refresh rate matches the GPU's output, resulting in buttery-smooth gameplay with reduced screen tearing and stuttering. This feature significantly enhanced my gaming sessions, providing a fluid and responsive experience. The monitor's fast 1ms response time was another highlight. It minimized motion blur, allowing me to react swiftly to in-game actions. Combined with its 144Hz refresh rate, the monitor excelled in delivering smooth and fluid gameplay, particularly in fast-paced genres like first-person shooters and racing games. The ergonomic design of the monitor deserves a mention as well. It offers versatile adjustments, including height, tilt, and swivel, ensuring optimal comfort during long gaming sessions. The slim bezels also contribute to an immersive viewing experience, particularly when using multiple monitors for an expansive setup. However, there are a few areas where the monitor could be improved. The monitor's HDR performance, while decent, may not match the dynamic range and brightness levels found in more premium HDR displays. In conclusion, the LG 27" UltraGear QHD IPS Gaming Monitor with G-SYNC Compatibility is an impressive gaming monitor that offers a visually stunning experience with its sharp picture quality and vibrant colors. The G-SYNC compatibility and fast response time contribute to smooth gameplay, while the ergonomic design enhances comfort during extended sessions. the overall gaming experience this monitor provides is exceptional.Disclaimer: This review reflects my personal experience and preferences as a gamer and should be considered subjective. Individual experiences may vary depending on specific hardware configurations and personal preferences.

One busted panel aside, not great but not terrible

Alright. I bought two of these about 7 months ago. For the price, they're great monitors. With that being said, one of them had a major panel issue that rendered it unusable within maybe 2-3 months. Credit to Best Buy, I was able to get it replaced which definitely felt good as a frequent customer. Nonetheless, a monitor for this price should not have a shot panel within months of unboxing without any physical damage. Fast forward 5ish months later to now, one of the original units and the replacement are still doing fine. However, one of them has issues where it will randomly drop it's refresh rate to 60hz for no reason, so I need to restart it to get it back up to 144, which is rather irritating. Perfect for the average person (me!)

When I was looking for a nice 1440p panel to complement my 3060ti, I began to do some online research. My budget was around $250-$300 bucks, so from my research, I narrowed the most commonly chosen options down to a few like this monitor, the Gigabyte M27Q, the ASUS VG27AQ, and so on. I ultimately settled on this one, because of the review on rtings.com, and it was readily available on Amazon. To note, I am not particularly choosy. Some forums online discussed the panel's low contrast, or its wide color gamut, or the best ways to calibrate it. To be honest, I have no idea where to start with any of that stuff.
