A Great TV Let Down by Excessive Light Bleed

I have waited until two months of ownership in order to write an honest review. Immediately during setup I noticed excessive light bleed/IPS glow in the right corners of the panel, the bottom right corner being the worst. This became more apparent after playing games with lower lighting. Disabling local dimming is essential for improved viewing otherwise the shift in brightness is incredibly off-putting during transitions between light and dark scenes. I had originally contacted support to see if my unit was defective, however, I was told this is simply how edge lit LEDs work. If you primarily watch sports this TV is fantastic. Streaming content from your phone is very easy and the TV does automatically engage game mode and HDR when required which is convenient. As someone who purchased this TV because of its HDMI2.1 support for release of next gen consoles, I could not recommend it to anyone who is looking for a TV for gaming as the light bleed detracts from the immersion. Although all edge lit TVs are susceptible to this problem, this model is by far the worst offender. Without the light bleed problem I would rate 5 stars as there are no other downsides to this unit. It's a shame as this TV has great features for the price point, but if I could go back in time I would save for an OLED.

I purchased this tv six weeks ago. I chose the nano cell because it had the best picture of all the televisions on display. The pros are: All of the apps that I watch are included on this TV as well as many more. There is also an LG channel feature broadcast by xumo. The Bluetooth remote is very convenient. All of the apps that I own are displayed in a menu at the bottom of the screen. The remote and features are user-friendly. It pairs with Alexa and my iPhone/iPad. The sound quality is pretty good, but not true sound-surround. There are several sound and picture selections. Customer service is great. I had a problem with the fit of the battery cover on the remote and they sent out a new remote which I received in about a week. The One big con is that the stand doesn’t seem very sturdy—the tv isn’t kept stationary on the stand, which makes it difficult to maneuver. After I installed mine I checked the model in the store, and it was the same way so I know that I installed mine correctly. I’m very glad I chose this tv, I’d choose it again.

When I started shopping for a new television, I called my son for advice because he was more knowledgeable about new technology and features. First of all, it was easy to set up. I was watching a movie within 10 minutes of turning it on for the first time. That's pretty amazing since I'm not what you would call tech savvy. It's so great to really enjoy the movie experience again and to be able to actually watch the action instead of madly reading closed captioned dialog. I'm as pleased as punch with my new LG and would certainly recommend this brand to anyone in the market for affordable, superior quality in a TV.

Complicated set-up and initial viewing

Found the (lack of printed) instructions a real disadvantage and struggled initially to set up the TV to play successfully. Could Be 5 Star

I've had this TV for about a month and give it 4 stars, but could easily be 5 star review. The picture and sound are great. After some minor adjustments in the picture the 4K and HD quality output is fine and for a 60hz TV. I don't see a lot of blurring with action contained in sports or movie viewing. The upscaling functions fine. The processor seems a bit slow at times depending on what action is being taken with the TV. The remote needs some improvement. Difficult sometimes to work the cursor actions to select an item. Bluetooth and Optical device selection can be tricky. Bluetooth and Optical device selection can be tricky. Have had some problems getting connected and disconnecting with bluetooth headphones and an optical connected sound bar. I use multiple headphones and the TV has some difficulty selecting the correct pair that is turned on in pairing mode and returning to optical output when bluetooth is disconnected. Depending on status of the optical device when turning the TV on, it won't select the sound bar for the audio output automatically and can't seem to power on the sound bar. . I have to manually use the remote to select optical from sound output options and manually turn on the sound bar. These are not major deficiencies, but can be annoying with the remote and when using different audio output devices. Those are my reasons for 4 star rating, but could easily be 5 star with a few improvements.

Crisp picture, remote is less than desirable
18 September 2023

This is a very nice television. We enjoy the 65" size to watch movies and sports and it fits our family room perfectly. The one thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is the remote which uses an on-screen pointer. As we are older and have less tactile abilities, it seems clunky. I called customer service and they do not make another remote without the pointer. We had to buy a generic one which does the job much better.

Impressive TV with first rate smart features
18 November 2020

Fist class picture in well lit scenes. 4k output impressive. Sound quality far better than I expected. First rate connectivity to streaming and catch up services. Surprisingly, a couple of major services are missing such as Kayo and Binge but these can be connected easily through Apple Air Play while streaming through the ipad so only a minor inconvenience. I thought I'd find the air wand remote control a bit of a gimmick but it turns out to be quite useful. Only downside overall is that in a darker scene which has a bright source in the picture the whole vertical section above and below that brighter spot becomes a bit grey instead of black like the surrounding areas. I suppose that's why people pay an extra couple of thousand dollars to buy an OLED.

Memory problem as soon as purchased!
31 August 2024

I purchased this TV about a month ago, it's a nice screen with a fair picture. The problem is it has to be switched off every couple of day and disconnected from the power. It displays the message 'This app will now restart to free up more memory' I have followed the fix they recommend but it makes no difference as I have not downloaded anything, so clearing the browser as recommended is pointless. Returning the TV is not available as I ordered direct from LG and the facility to return is not available online.

New HD TV

After about 1 1/2 months with TV now it hasn't dazzled me quite like I wanted. First no user manual which is fine I suppose but what instructions were available were vague in providing information to access even if available so have been left trying to guess what to do and setup hasn't been easy. This made setup confusing and left me wondering if I was helping or hurting the TV. I even had to call LG directly for help while setting up the TV for the first time. Next, the HD isn't there. Not to say the TV isn't working and understanding that provided content streamed or broadcast to the TV may not be in 4K I am still left wondering if there is something I can do with the TV itself such as settings or calibration, etc. to improve the picture quality (see no user manual above) or that the TV may be defective. Guess I'll have to call LG again. Finally, the remote. One reason for this purchase was to hopefully reduce the number of remotes needed to watch what I wanted. That has not been the case. In purchasing a sound bar/wireless subwoofer package for the TV we had to disable the TV sound to prevent echoing which left us needing to use the remote supplied with the sound bar package. That's +1 for remotes. Also the TV remote is useless when trying to surf/change channels by entering a specific channel number or using the up/down channel arrow buttons because it defaults to input from over-the-air broadcasts which has very little in the way of selection. We had initially tried just watching content from our cable service through their "streaming" app which is difficult and inconvenient at best. Because of this we broke down and got a cable top box from the same cable provider to try to restore some level of convenience which has resulted in +1 remote as well. So now I'm using 3 remotes just to watch TV. We are trying to eliminate our Amazon Firestick remote but can't because we have HBO and Cinemax through Amazon and have't figured out how to transfer access to the HBO and Cinemax apps on the TV. This makes +4 remotes. Sure the response to that would be to get a universal remote, but that's another unexpected and unwanted expenditure to use this TV. I would only recommend tis TV to someone who is very tech savvy and already knows this stuff like the back of their hand.

I just bought this to replace a TV I really enjoyed but unfortunately touched the screen and broke it when adding Chromcast. I find the interface confusing and not intuitive. I find the screen very dark. I changed the settings including turning off power saving but it is still dark. I was watching This Week on Sunday and couldn’t watch the show. Everything in the background and especially the capitol building was pinkish. White backgrounds seem to confuse the processor. Some picture quality is awesome. If there is a lot of black it seems to work better. Also had some ghosting issues during the Super Bowl. First time that has happened in years. One other thing I dont like is the black bezel.
