I use this system for movies and video games. It outputs my favorite sound quality. The bass it’s hard and even the speakers hit hard on their own.The rear wireless speakers output great surround sound as well. They plug directly into an outlet, as does the subwoofer. My biggest complaint is I wish it had a TV display menu and more preferences. It’s kind of annoying to have to cycle through settings with the remote reading directly off of the sound bar. I also wish it had the option to turn off Bluetooth. A few times I’ve had strangers trying to connect to my system thinking it was internet. You simply have to deny them, but it is a hassle knowing that anyone in the area can see your system in their phone’s wi-fi settings.Other than that, I have no complaints. ... I’ve had this sound bar for about 2.5 years. I was super excited about it until the subwoofer died due to a bad circuit board, which seems to be a very common issue with this model, and yet LG still hasn’t issued a recall so we have buy and install the updated circuit board ourselves. That seemed to have fixed the issue but now I’m experiencing another issue. The subwoofer keeps intermittently popping and cutting out. I’ve read online that other people are experiencing the same thing and that it might have to do with the Internet interfering with the Bluetooth signal, but my subwoofer is right next to my sound bar and tv, and the modem/router is all the way across the room (about 20 feet away). I'm very pleased with this soundbar system. It was very easy to set up. It is nice that the satellite speakers and subwoofer are all wireless, so no need to run speaker wires all over the room. They do all have power cords that need to be plugged in though. There is an AI setting that is meant to provide good sound based on your personal set up/room. It sounds good that way, but I have found that the Movie preset sounds better for me. I saw another review somewhere that mentioned that and suggested setting the subwoofer and center speaker volumes at +3 and all the other speakers at +2 to really good surround especially with the vertical sounds from overhead objects. I have found that recommendation to be accurate. I've only had the soundbar for about a month, but am ... MoreI'm very pleased with this soundbar system. It was very easy to set up. It is nice because I am able to plug my Dish receiver and a Nvidia Shield streaming box directly into the soundbar with HDMI and switch between them by changing the input on the LG remote or my phone. The app for this is simple and easy to set up. I have a couple Vizio soundbars and they sound good, but their apps never work and are extremely frustrating. This system really does a great job of filling the room with sounds.

Bought this about a year and a half ago. It was great when it worked . The sound was gorgeous and I loved playing video games with it. I would have given it 5 stars, but then the subwoofer suddenly stopped working. The power suddenly would not turn on. Looking into it, it seems that this is a common problem with the subwoofer due to their motherboard in the piece. Contacted customer support and they were useless. Referred me to a place where they don't even fix subwoofers and felt like the customer support person could really careless. If I was petty, I would give it 1 star if I believed the customer service experience was the sole reflection of the product. I truly loved the system, but I took 2 stars away because apparently this is a known problem, and they will try to charge you the full-service price to fix it. I did not use the system often. I did not drop or damage it. It was in a surge protector, and I never turned up the volume very loud, so I know its failure was not my fault but a product malfunction. Product malfunctions happen. I get that. Duds will get through. But if you type in the product name and subwoofer into a search bar and the exact problem shows up as the first couple results, that would indicate it is a frequent issue LG should know about and will still charge full-service price for the problem.
I purchased this soundbar from Richer Sounds during Black Friday (2020) as it was heavily reduced and I had been thinking about buying it for some time to replace our 12 year old LG HT752TH-DH 5.1 DVD surround sound system.Set upThe system was relatively easy to set up using the quick start guide/card although the guide itself is not too helpful and poorly written. For the more comprehensive settings/user guide - you need to download that from LG! For the more comprehensive settings/user guide - you need to download that from LG! The rear speakers and sub paired automatically to the bar and have stayed in that state since which is over two months ago, occasionally the front LED panel reports that the rear left is not connected but it seems to sort itself out.Initially you need to install the Google home app and also download the LG Wi-Fi speaker app (I have iPhone 11 and more on this app later). With both apps installed I ran through the Wi-Fi connection steps on the quick start card and successfully connected the soundbar to my home Wi-Fi network (BT home hub 2 router) which enables you to use the LG speaker app to control the volume and change simple settings from your smart phone. I have a Sky Q 2TB version and connected up the HDMI cables as per the guide (Sky Q to TV and TV to soundbar via arc connection) I also bought new ultra high speed HDMI 2.1 cables to replace the standard ones that are supplied with the Sky box. Quick check of default settings using the LG app and then I used the AI Room Calibration feature to fine tune the speakers once in their final resting place.Build qualityLooks and feels exceptionally well made, the bar itself is really long at 144cm and only just fits the width of our TV unit. The bar is sat on top of the TV unit but I will mount this using the supplied wall brackets once we’ve moved the living room around. The sub is a fair old size but not much bigger than our previous one but feels really solid. The rear speakers are also much bigger than expected and are quite heavy, due to the size I may leave them on my existing mission speaker stands rather than wall mounting using the supplied brackets.Use caseThe bar is connected to my 65” 2019 Samsung LED UE65RU7470UXXU and Sky Q 2TB box. I don’t have a blue ray player so can’t comment about that and we mostly watch Sky TV, Sky Cinema, Boxsets or use the inbuilt Sky Q streaming apps. We actually prefer to watch the streaming services on our Samsung smart TV apps (Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime etc.) rather than via SkyQ as they perform much better and support native Dolby Atmos/HDR content where available.ProblemsOkay so I have mixed experiences using the soundbar depending on what source device I use. Initially with my set up configuration I get really bad lip syncing audio delay when using SkyQ as the source device which seems even worse if I watch streaming services via the Sky Q box. I checked my AV set up in Sky settings and verified Dolby Digital + is selected (ticked) and messed about with audio delay settings in the TV, Sky and soundbar but cannot resolve this. My TV is also enabled for Dolby Digital + and Atmos support. So I upgraded my older Sky Q box to the newer 2TB HDR version (cost £50) which also now supports Dolby Atmos passthrough, the new box improved the visual quality nicely but still no Dolby Atmos support when watching Atmos enabled content via the built in apps - Amazon or Netflix and audio lip sync persists. Atmos enabled Sky movies appear to play fine so I called Richer sounds and they advised me to connect Sky box directly to the soundbar HDMI port rather than to the TV HDMI and this has improved audio delay issue on the Sky apps content slightly but does not fix completely. Also audio playback intermittently cuts out for a few tenths of a second when watching any recorded content on the Sky Q box. This doesn’t happen when watching the smart TV apps or when streaming music via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connections to the sound bar. I think these issues are caused by the SkyQ box and not the soundbar although I have no evidence of this apart from my own testing scenarios.Watching streaming services via the inbuilt smart TV apps works much better, I can watch Atmos enabled content on Netflix and Amazon and the sound bar automatically detects the Atmos signal and plays without any noticeable audio delay. The same content does not even show as Atmos capable when selected from the Netflix app on the Skybox (audio shows as 5.1) which I assume is a SkyQ box limitation as I have premium Netflix subscription which shows the Atmos capable icon content when browsing through the Netflix smart TV app.The LG Wi-Fi app is very unreliable. After the initial set up when everything worked ok, if I now launch the app it reports “there is no connected speaker”. Similar in Google home app, which states “check soundbar is online” - I have to mess about trying to reconnect both apps to the soundbar and then sometimes the soundbar will reappear in the LG /google app (or not), flaky as hell and quite frustrating!Audio qualityNow the whole point of buying this soundbar was because we wanted better home cinema audio and mainly to experience Dolby Atmos and see what all the fuss is about. I’m still not sure about the Atmos effects via the upward firing drivers of the rear speakers and the soundbar and there’s not a massive amount of content to choose from on the current streaming platforms so the jury is still out there as I have nothing to compare against. In terms of overall audio quality we are impressed with the sound even when watching movies/shows in good old fashioned 5.1 surround sound , the sub delivers really deep thumping sounds which you can really feel and the rears are awesome for those channels that send sounds to back of the room. The bar is equally good and works perfectly when watching normal TV programs or when connecting smartphones to listen to music. The movie mode setting is by far the best one in our opinion , AI mode and all the others don’t sound anywhere near as good.SummaryI would recommend this soundbar however I would advise that people who are considering this or any other flagship soundbar to perform thorough research before hand or get sound advice (‘scuse the pun) and check what their current AV equipment supports, especially around HDMI socket versions, eARC/ARC support, Dolby Digital+/Atmos capabilities of existing kit. My Samsung TV surely plays a part in audio lipsync delay as it does not support HDMI 2.1 and eARC - after some research I read that the HDMI 2.1 standard supports built in correction for audio delay so it’s a minefield especially if you’re not familiar with all this stuff, not for the faint hearted. The LG Wi-Fi speaker app is not fit for purpose in my experience so far and I’m really hoping that these reliability issues will be improved in later versions.
Having bought an OLED65 TV I got the urge to add a soundbar. After much deliberation I realised that a basic sound bar was unlikely to give the wow factor and started considering Bose and Sonos. Both are good but I then realised I could get this system that can handle Dolby Atmos correctly with full range wireless surround speakers for the price of just a soundbar. All plugged in and setup, only to discover that my BT TV box does not handle Atmos! Thankfully the TV with ethernet connected does. My room is not ideal as there is an alcove to the left of the TV and and door to the right. Also the ceiling has a non smooth finish and the best viewing position is positioned within a bay window which has an RSJ across the bay ceiling. So I rarely notice the sounds bouncing ... So I rarely notice the sounds bouncing off the ceiling or the walls which is a shame. There are several sound settings - I use AI mode for general viewing but for films it seems to increase the sounds of explosions etc so I switch to Movie mode and that gives a better balance in my opinion. Overall though the sound is really impressive and the sub can be thunderous (in a very good way). I would have preferred smaller surround speakers as its pretty rare to hear anything other than high frequencies coming from them. Surprising that LG do not provide or recommend suitable surround speaker stands although the system comes with wall brackets - but as I sit in the window bay, they would have had to be located in front of my seating position. Note Sonos charge for the bracket that holds their soundbar but LG provide free. Overall I love the overall sound, specially for films. When in AI mode it does improve the definition of speech but can sound a bit like a telephone at times. This can of course be turned off.
Firstly i want to say that this soundbar can be good. It both can sound and work well. However... this is by far a rare scenario. When it's working and you're listening to atmos content it generally sounds well balanced with a wide and tall soundscape. The up firing front and rear speakers obviously help a lot to provide the over head channels. It even does an ok job of playing music. I would definitely recommend making use of the specific sound modes when you're not viewing atmos content as this makes a huge improvement over the standard mode. The issues are constant though. I regularly experience rear speaker and sub dropouts, and by regular I'd say they occur every day and can drop every few seconds or few minutes, but I've not been able to identify any commonality to when this occurs.Separately, it seems to attempt to update itself multiple times a week and always when I want to use it as it doesn't pick update times when it's likely not in use just when it gets turned on. The updates haven't broken anything but they sure as hell haven't fixed anything... in saying that I wouldn't know what to look for as I've not seen release notes anywhere. Also, it's smart functionality and eARC that are supposed to enhance my experience with my LG CX do nothing... I had to manually adjust the audio sync function which only helped when i actually bypassed the setting, it's still not good. and, eARC i just don't use because it caused speakers to click, pop and lots of issues with my xbox.In the early days I did raise a support ticket around wifi streaming but all they did was blame my home wifi and refer me to a crappy 3rd party repairer which didn't get back to me. So i guess support is pretty crap as well.

Yes, you read correctly, the updates pushed out by the manufacturer have been rendering the product (or parts of it) completely inoperable. Search online for it, MANY people worldwide experiencing this issue with these updates. The worst part, LG does not acknowledge it, and does not seem interested in doing anything about it. Owners with units just outside warranty are having to replace or repair subwoofers out of pocket. New circuit boards inside the sub are a frequent fix, so the updates are apparently causing catastropic damage to the product, rendering it unusable. Also, does not pass through Dolby Vision, anyone with ARC (and not eARC), must choose either Dolby Atmos, or Dolby Vision, but not both, by plugging source into either TV or Soundbar.Lastly, this product has (since some recent update) a habit of creating a completely unsecured WiFi access point, which cannot be disabled. If you also have this unit connected to your WiFi (required to set it up), this COULD effectively be creating an unsecured bridge into your home network. I am sure they will deny it, but frankly, you don't know WHAT it's doing, there's no way to find out from the app, very little information and configurability with this product.Feature ommissions/quirks are one thing, but sending out updates which brick a working product and then disowning the problem, unforgiveable.

The drop from 120W to 50W is more noticeable compared to movies where there's no issue- The steps in the volume are a bit big, in particular when listening to music via bluetooth. For example going from 10 to 11 delivers a disproportionate jump. That is not an issue in all modes or inputs though
I purchased the system as a companion to a large LG OLED, and it assembled, synchronized to the OLED, and started working immediately, It sounded fabulous, and handled any source I threw at it. After 7 months, the wireless subwoffer would randomly lose it's connection to the Soundbar, the re-connection process is time consuming and cumbersome. Finally, after 11 months, the Subwoffer died completely -- no power, no sound, no connection. Having gone through all the testing processes I could with LG Tech Support (friendly, knowledgeable, once you can reach them), LG sent packing materials for the return-for-repair shipping back to LG. I will say that the system sounds great as it works out of the box. I can't speak about the system's durability yet.
