The e-Arc on HDMI 2 allows me to connect my home cinema amplifier to the TV. As the AV amp doesn’t have HDMI 2.1, this set up allows the amp to process only the audio while the TV deals with the picture processing.Screen refresh rates of upto 144hz means PC and Console games can run in maximum performance mode with gaming technologies such as VRR ensuring judder free gaming and ultrafast 0.1 ms response times which can make all the difference when playing competitive FPS games. For watching movies, Dolby Vision combined with Dolby Atmos is the best movie watching experience you can have. It will be hard to watch anything on another TV after this. The LG G4 comes with various picture presets including Film Maker Mode which is ensures you are seeing all the detail and colour just as the Director intended.Pin sharp details, bright and vibrant colours along with realistic skin tones will leave you searching for more and more content to show off this TVs capability. The contrast between the infinite black levels and the super bright visuals generated by the 2nd gen MLA panel is a visual feast for the eyes compared to the washed out blacks on the LED TV I had.The screen has an anti-glare coating which means even though it is gloss black, there are no distracting reflections when watching TV.The only thing that would improve the user experience is to have a mounting paper template the full size as the TV which will make it easier to work out optimal placement on the wall. The supplied template is half the height of the TV and has outlines for all the sizes of TVs in the G4 range which can cause confusion.Overall, this was the best TV I found on the market for watching TV and gaming, exceptional TV and gaming, exceptional design and future-proof features with a 5 year panel warranty.

Let me start by saying, no doubt I have made the right decision with the G4 ! OLED is a different world all together and none comes close to it in terms of picture quality, depth of color, sharpness and clarity and the individual pixel control is brilliant! The TV had to be wall mounted myself ( as curry’s want offering this included in price which I realized as only delivery was included) , setting up the brackets on the wall was easy but then hanging the picture ( I mean the TV ) was a challenge and this needed another strong person with me to lift and hang- phew finally done - and yes was to be done once! So all well that ends well 😀Now it was the next part, to setup the TV - which was pretty straightforward using the magic remote and also registered with my LG ... MoreLet me start by saying, no doubt I have made the right decision with the G4 ! So all well that ends well 😀Now it was the next part, to setup the TV - which was pretty straightforward using the magic remote and also registered with my LG app ( already had that for my LG dryer so that got added seamlessly)The best part of the TV is - it’s simplified - no clunky setting, simple menu, and use the AI modes which do most things for you. Easy control using LG remote if you just want to watch stuff using the inbuilt apps or just on fire stick !The picture quality with Dolby Vision Pro is excellent and found the motion smooth all through and any media and sports . The sound to be honest needs enhancement and is not enough for this slim wall mount TV - a compatible sound system is important if you want the best results from this TVThe TV is actually quite slim and when fully to the wall just looks like a photo frame ( would have been great if it comes with some attachment bezels with it). The picture view from all angles is great and even at almost 180 degrees you can see the picture from the side.Good amount of options to connect media, game console etc but not sure how much will be needed at same time as so many apps are in built.Looking to explore more of this TV but is very exciting for me as now I enjoy watching TV which was not the case with my old LED TV which the contract and fading was an issue while watching dark footage. Need to get a good soundbar go go with it for sure.

Next generation micro lens array - what an upgrade
24 May 2024

We've had our 65" LG CX OLED for four years, but recently moved to a new house and the TV now sits on a wall that faces north-facing, 8m high floor-to-ceiling windows - and the CX really struggled on sunny days, with certain shows practically unwatchable until after late afternoon.Hence when I heard about the next generation micro lens array (MLA) technology in the new 65" LG G4 OLED, I was really excited to see how it would perform under these very challenging real-world viewing conditions. As I understand it, each individual OLED pixel has >5000 microscopic lenses that help focus the light, reduce light scatter, and result in a significantly brighter picture.Whilst the G4 comes with both a stand and a wall mount, we opted to reuse our existing third party wall ... MoreWe've had our 65" LG CX OLED for four years, but recently moved to a new house and the TV now sits on a wall that faces north-facing, 8m high floor-to-ceiling windows - and the CX really struggled on sunny days, with certain shows practically unwatchable until after late afternoon.Hence when I heard about the next generation micro lens array (MLA) technology in the new 65" LG G4 OLED, I was really excited to see how it would perform under these very challenging real-world viewing conditions. As I understand it, each individual OLED pixel has >5000 microscopic lenses that help focus the light, reduce light scatter, and result in a significantly brighter picture.Whilst the G4 comes with both a stand and a wall mount, we opted to reuse our existing third party wall mount (the only challenge being that the attachment points on the G4 are higher on the panel compared to the CX so the TV ended up sitting slightly lower, but fortunately at the ideal viewing height). Cable management was much easier compared to the CX with designated cutouts on the back of the TV, and the final installation sits almost flush with the wall.Out of the box, it was immediately evident that there was a significant brightness difference between the two TVs. In side-by-side testing, the G4 had noticeably more vivid colours and higher peak brightness, but more importantly had significantly greater detail in both light and dark scenes. Perhaps most impressively, the TV is not just viewable but performs exceptionally in direct sunlight without any significant image quality degradation (in my third photo) - which traditionally has been a challenge for OLED displays. On a gaming front I tested the G4 with my PS5, Nintendo Switch and gaming PC and the new game optimiser picture mode enables up to a 144Hz refresh rate, HGiG support for accurate HDR gaming, automatic low-latency mode and supports both NVidia G-Sync and AMD Freesync Premium. Once again, the brightness, colour range, contrast and detail is just superb. The 2024 webOS user interface is intuitive and there's even an AI-powered assistant to guide you through the settings. I understand there is also an update coming later this year that will bring full Google Home Hub functionality to the TV which is quite exciting and I look forward to using the TV at the centre of our smart home.I was dubious that there would be that much difference in four years, but I'm honestly blown away as are the rest of my family!

The G4 has noticeably improved dynamics, with exceptional highlights and deep black blacks. But there’s another advantage and that’s colour vibrancy. The LG G4 offers a lushness of hue which is amazing, all without over saturation.I've used the G4 in Filmmaker mode, standard mode and the new AI Picture Pro mode, and it’s this that I think is the most interesting. The set is able to dynamically manage the picture based on what is being played or streamed, without having to change any settings and this works very well.If the input is formatted for HDR then hold on to your eyeballs as the G4 turns on HDR10 and impressively the screen come to life.Looking at the online manual, all four HDMI inputs support 4k 120Hz, but there’s also the option of a 144Hz mode specifically for PC gaming. This makes the G4 the world’s first NVIDIA G-Sync 144Hz validate TV according to the LG and NVIDIA websites. The G4 also has the option for AI audio, again powered by the new Alpha 11 AI processor. According to the manual, there’s virtual 11.1.2 channel audio from any source, as well as Voice Remastering. This uses AI to enhance and isolate the audio depending on the content being played. The LG OLED65G4 is an amazing TV. It’s picture performance is jaw-droppingly flawless and would happily recommend it to anyone who can afford the price!

The native refresh rate to 120hz, PC gaming 144hz, chromecast built in, the a11 processor which helps navigate through apps much faster and the most important is introducing Filmmaker to Dolby Vision which truly gives you the cinematic experience! Now, you can have MLA panel on 83 inch too, I wish I could afford a 77 inch though or it was part of the campaign! On the other hand there are minuses of this TV which I hope LG will add in the near future. The power cord attached to TV still, you cannot run cable through walls or makes it really difficult, the MagicRemote LG made 10 years ago no improvements, bulky, noisy and no alternatives to buy a premium one from LG. The video issues with HDMI 2 port which its a shame, as LG QA team didn't notice it, but hopfully a WebOS update will sort it. The ethernet port only 10/100mbps, and the USB ports are just 2.0 though. I'm expecting 3.0 USB port, new premium backlight remote and potentially 1gbps ethernet ports for next year's G5, fingers crossed LG hear us out! This G4 TV even with the minuses mentioned its still a great TV, the picture quality its speechless and stunning from every angle! I recommend it to everyone who is after a Gallery design TV with excellent features and its worth the investment!

Simply Stunning TV

About me : I upgraded to the LG G4 65" from an LG C9 55" which was a great tv, but needed a new tv that offered better brightness and had a slim fit so it didn't bulk out to much as our living room isn't that big.Design and external ports : The LG G4 is a very slim tv and what attracts it to me the most with the design is the wall bracket that allows you to get flat to the wall, but can also be easy to pull out if you need to access the connections, the tv has 4 HDMi 2.1 144hz ports one of these being the eARC to connect your sound bar too, fully equipped for the future.Operating system: The tv features web OS 24 which is great to navigate round with using the magic remote, I have used web OS 23 of which there a few differences this year, better layout of icon ... MoreAbout me : I upgraded to the LG G4 65" from an LG C9 55" which was a great tv, but needed a new tv that offered better brightness and had a slim fit so it didn't bulk out to much as our living room isn't that big.Design and external ports : The LG G4 is a very slim tv and what attracts it to me the most with the design is the wall bracket that allows you to get flat to the wall, but can also be easy to pull out if you need to access the connections, the tv has 4 HDMi 2.1 144hz ports one of these being the eARC to connect your sound bar too, fully equipped for the future.Operating system: The tv features web OS 24 which is great to navigate round with using the magic remote, I have used web OS 23 of which there a few differences this year, better layout of icon cards and menu, live tv now shows when on the menu also, overall its easy to use. Web os has I think is the best tv operating system avalible.Picture Quality: Watching films on the Tv is stunning and tv supports all the formats needed, we watch most content in dolby vision using netflix and apple tv, the picture is just so bright and colours are almost 3d like. Motion on the Tv is also fantastic no jumping or stuttering. We have watch 4-5 films on the TV and both me and my wife are blown away by the picture. General TV is also great and tv upscales non 4k images great.Gaming: I am a big PC gamer and wanted a TV that I can hook my gaming laptop up to, this tv features everything I need 144hz, HDMI 2.1 and full G sync support. I have done a lot of gaming on the LG G4 since I got it and really is fantastic, any gamer would be happy with this TV.Sound: I have hooked this up to my sonos ARC soundbar via the ARC hdmi, I will give the sound a test without the soundbar, but really if you have a tv as good as this you need a decent soundbar.Extras: Other things I have found useful is the in built alexa, google cast which is new this year I believe and homekit support. All great thing to have for a smart home. Conclusion so far: So far so good with this TV, everything has been 10/10 for me, the picture has those inky blacks, great brightness and motion. Tv is feature packed for the future and also having 5 years of updates it wont get old. Highly recommended.

Stellar Viewing Experience
1 May 2024

After reviewing the LG G4 OLED over the past few days it’s clear it is a small, but good step up over the LG G3 OLED (last years model). For a start there are some welcome features, like Chromecast built in, 144hz mode and Dolby Vision Filmmaker mode which all add to the experience. Picture quality is LG’s strong point for me, the picture looks stunning and is slightly brighter this year again which always helps, especially in a light room like mine. Watching movies of an evening the last few nights has been fantastic, whether they’ve been in 4K or HD all have looked great. You can tell the Alpha 11 processor is really working well and doing what it can, especially on older HD transfers. Watching movies of an evening the last few nights has been fantastic, whether they’ve been in 4K or HD all have looked great. You can tell the Alpha 11 processor is really working well and doing what it can, especially on older HD transfers. The introduction of Dolby Vision filmmaker mode I was very excited about as I like a “pure” picture experience and it looks stunning, I’m used to it being a little brighter but I’ll get used to what it “should be” like. Chromecast Built in works exactly as it should, as does AirPlay as always. There’s a slightly tweaked OS which is a little more user friendly. After testing gaming, I have all the main consoles and the HD ones ran fine with a nice clear and clean picture. The 4K consoles picture looked fantastic, however with VRR on there is a lot of tearing which wasn’t on last years, I hope this can be fixed as otherwise the picture is fantastic, especially in Dolby Vision game mode using the new PC Dolby Vision setting. Another small bug is sometimes when you switch to HDMI 2 there seems to be a fuzzy picture issue, it doesn’t always do it, but it is quite frequent, LG are aware and are working on a software fix which is great news. It may have been nice to have had a slight improvement on the remote control as it’s been the same for a few years now too. However, overall it’s the best TV I’ve ever owned, it looks great and attached to my soundbar sounds fantastic and eARC works exactly as it should which is always a bonus, including all audio formats like Dolby Atmos, DTS-X and multi channel LPCM. It really is an impressive piece of kit with a few niggles that I’m sure LG will iron out as they always are pretty quick with software updates to address issues. The actual look of the tv is fantastic, lovely and sleek and tidy with a great set of features to allow for proper gaming and movie watching. A great buy if you want the best. The only thing I think that could be added maybe HDR10+ support, then it would have a full set of features. Overall a stunning TV and worth it

what can i say about this TV, its the amazing TV to eyes, to your ears and one of the brightest OLED i have even seen yet.One of the very unique thing about is this TV is that this looks also great with its aluminium side look gives it a very rich an pleasing to eye, which is missing in other brands even for their premium TVs.Best thing about this TV over other premium brands.1.) HDR impact - when you talk about the HDR and care about the content and HDR vibrancy , this is the TV you should have a look, Its with its infinite contract OLED level pixels and the brightness level it produces beats everything in market.I search about this and got to know that G4 is equipped with MLA+ Technology and which is the reason it beats everything in space of HDR content and ... Morewhat can i say about this TV, its the amazing TV to eyes, to your ears and one of the brightest OLED i have even seen yet.One of the very unique thing about is this TV is that this looks also great with its aluminium side look gives it a very rich an pleasing to eye, which is missing in other brands even for their premium TVs.Best thing about this TV over other premium brands.1.) Processor - this is the next thing, i am very excited about the TV, that this is equipped with the A11, LG latest processcor enable with all the power for AI or dynamic tone mapping. I am not sure if this is the reason why i see 3d like depth on the TVwhich is beyond any words i can describe. It also generates great Digital ATMOS sound mapping with response quite Okay from TV perspective.3.) Upscaling - I think, this is where LG has made the signification improvement, like this TV upscales any low bit quality content to match 4k scaling, amazing. I saw some movies in 720 and 1080p and significant difference in this TV and other i am used to, in the Cinema mode.4.) Modes are another thing, which i like about this TV, this comes with different modes per your liking, for example when i see the low bit content i generally watch in Cinema that that this helps in all the extra clarity and processing to make it look like 4k. However when you have watch for already good 4k content, you can select the film make mode, which gives the perspective of director intent5.) Game is also amazing on this, i know that in the previous generation, the color brightness was the issue which is fixed in this TV and you can fully enjoy your Game upto 144hz.6.) Dolby vision, this may not be worth for many but i always like the content in DV whenever possible and i know thats not possible in many brands but over here you have the full working Dolby Vision option apart from HDR10/10+, so this is also the plus for me.Conclusion: You thorough enjoy anything on this. This TV excels in every department, movie streaming, TV streaming, Gaming.

Upgraded from B6
22 June 2024

After having a great product and support experience with my 55" B6 OLED for 7 years, we decided to upgrade to the 77" G4 in order to improve the aesthetic of our living room with the flat mount/hidden cable installation. The upgraded size and picture quality is obviously a bonus, although we did not expect to be blown away by the massive improvement in quality. The brightness level of this TV is perfect for our living room with several skylights and windows. The motion processing is leaps and bounds better at keeping the picture smooth even during horizontal panning. eARC appears to work much more consistently and we have not had any drop outs (LG Magic remote works for our Apple TV 4K and Samsung 5.1).Now that the overwhelming positive stuff is noted, let's talk ... MoreAfter having a great product and support experience with my 55" B6 OLED for 7 years, we decided to upgrade to the 77" G4 in order to improve the aesthetic of our living room with the flat mount/hidden cable installation. The upgraded size and picture quality is obviously a bonus, although we did not expect to be blown away by the massive improvement in quality. The brightness level of this TV is perfect for our living room with several skylights and windows. The motion processing is leaps and bounds better at keeping the picture smooth even during horizontal panning. eARC appears to work much more consistently and we have not had any drop outs (LG Magic remote works for our Apple TV 4K and Samsung 5.1).Now that the overwhelming positive stuff is noted, let's talk about what needs improvement. We find that our Apple TV is not receiving a 5.1 surround signal on the first boot of our setup. We need to turn off the TV (which powers down the Apple TV and Samsung 5.1 theater-in-a-box), then turn back on. 5.1 works perfectly on the 2nd boot up. We have tried different settings, included quick boot options on our Samsung equipment, forcing 5.1 only though Apple TV, and testing surround directly through the Samsung equipment (which works, until we switch back to the Apple TV). This seems to be an eARC issue that is solved with a dedicated home theater receiver, but we are not willing to invest thousands in that to fix something that should work out of the box flawlessly.Additionally, the updated LG Magic Remote does not have a dedicated play/pause button like previous versions. Not sure why something like this would be removed. There is a digital remove menu you can access on screen, and you can also use the center wheel to play/pause, but some apps do not play nice with the center wheel (Disney+, for example). It is also not obvious to those who are unfamiliar with a Magic Remote and expect Play/Pause buttons (like every remote in existence).Overall we are extremely pleased with the purchase and would do it again. Friends and family have remarked how impressive the picture quality is and are now seriously considering the LG G-series for their next TV. This is the best TV on the market at the best price point. Yes it is more expensive than mini LED, but for good reason. The black levels, color accuracy, HDMI 2.1 options, reliability, and warranty are unmatched. There is a reason other manufacturers use LG OLED panels for their own product lines.
