I can't say my new washing machine is perfect but, it is quiet. My negative point is that the Cotton setting, even when Cold only wash is selected, takes over 2hrs and the Cotton Eco takes over 4hrs. Where's the "Eco" in this? With electricity costs being as high as they are in Australia, these wash times are way too long. Thankfully, the Quick wash, on cold only, takes just 31 minutes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this washer to replace an ageing top loader for a growing family and it has all the features we need.The delayed wash function gets used a lot more than we thought it would and comes in very handy to set a wash to come on after everyone has had showers etc.The 8kg capacity is perfect for a full load and we don't need to wash as often as we used to, we can also wash bedding and towels with ease and it has a bunch of presents for all the different materials.The steam function is great if we need to sanitise or get wrinkles out and it helps the detergent clean certain materials for effectively.We love our washing machine and would recommend it.

I bought this machine 12 months ago and have had the same issue since day 1. It will get stuck spinning at a certain time and will continue to spin until you physically turn the machine off. If you’re not home this can be for hours. This can be large loads and small, single item washes. I claimed under warranty and LG sent their technicians out 5 times before I had enough and told them I want to be credited the price of a new machine. I’m still trying to work that out with them so I’m stuck with this awful machine that hardly ever completes a wash. The majority of the time I’m left with loads that are soaking wet and take hours to drip dry. I will never buy another LG washing machine.

Learning to use the washing machine was extremely easy because of its simple, logical interface of buttons, dial and electronic display. For more information I read relevant parts from what is a very easy to understand and comprehensive information booklet. The number of wash options gives me a sense of control that I have not had with previous machines. The thing that struck me the first time I used my washer was how quiet it was. The second thing was how well it cleaned items of clothing etc. A little thing I really like is the noise the washer makes when it is turned on and off. A very nice touch by LG designers. Absolutely love my new LG washing machine would recommend it highly to family and friends. It's super quiet, is able to do my towels without rocking the machine like my old washer. Best buy ever. Delivery was on time and the guys were friendly and super helpful. They also took away my old washer which is fabulous. Will shop here again. Thanks
While the build quality is on par with everything else on the market, the myriad of options makes operating the machine requires a science degree. OK, maybe that’s a bit harsh, but, it isn’t simply a matter of shoving in the dirty laundry, filling the detergent dispenser and pressing ‘Start’. For example, while the machine is rated ‘8kg’ very few of the programs ‘recommend’ fully loading it ; ‘Cotton’ and ‘Cotton Eco’ are the only two that do. Four of the programs only recommend ‘Less than 2kg’.The other annoying fact is that nowhere in the manual does it tell you how long each cycle takes - ‘Cotton Eco’ takes over 3 hours!

Here's why: I have a lot of merino wool garments, - so one reason is the wool setting on the washing machine does not work. I put a small sized load of wool garments in the washing machine and half of them came out dry, and had not even been wet. Surely LG should know that wool has some hydrophobic properties, and that more water is needed to soak them to actually get them wet. I then did another wool cycle and watched the washing machine for about 45 minutes, and all this washing machine did was about 1 "wobble" every 2 minutes, the wobbles were so gentle that they weren't even enough to rotate or "turn over" the clothes, and they dry garments on top stayed there and didn't absorb any ... Moreafter buying this washing machine, I sold it after 3 months as I did not like it. You can't predict the finishing time of any washing load because it will be different almost every time, which is very frustrating.This washing machine also does not allow you to choose the number of rinses.I sold this washing machine on gumtree and bought a Samsung 7.5kg Front Load Smart Washer instead, which is way better than the LG. It is GREAT! All the wash cycles on the Samsung run for a reasonable amount of time, and are predictable. And the wash cycles actually work. and you can choose the number of rinse times. This LG washing machine was not suitable for my needs. But of course, it might be suitable for others.
This washer cleans well. I feel like the steam cleaning function helps kill the bacteria more. The added connectedness to phone is nice, not really necessary, but nice. If it really would add value, it would have to need better usability and functionality. There are lots of programs, but I would like to create my own program and timing manually, which is sometimes difficult or impossible with the settings i want. The programs are either a quick 30 min wash or a very thorough one of 2.5 hours. Sound-wise, it's very quite (only not in the 1400 rpm, but that's okay and not always used). 8kg is a good amount of space for us, as we can put our bed covers with the other clothes. So I end up using the "Quick Wash" cycle and combining it with "Intensive" to get a more reasonable 1 hour run time. Clothes washed on the "Cotton" cycle normally take 1 hour 20 mins. Why do towels take so much longer? There should be a way for me to set the run time instead of the ridiculous algorithm.(2) The poorly written user manual doesn't detail how to do a spin-only cycle. If you ever have a problem with the machine and need to urgently drain the water then the last thing you want to do is connect the machine to the internet and then download the program.So in summary the more computerised they make these machines the worse they are. They're much harder to override and customise. The computer programmers think they know best. I long for my mother's old washing machine with a mechanical twist dial that you can easily move to the desired setting.
I found at first it was difficult swapping over from Electrolux to LG cycles were different. I've also found powder detergents work better than liquid. You need to use 1/2 the recommended dosage otherwise clothes come out stiff. It washes extremely well and super quiet. Cycles are quicker than other front loaders I've own so that's a plus too. I love the delay wash feature use it often to get maximum use out of our solar system. I would definitely recommend this machine. Great price also. Thankyou
