LG CineBeam Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector 4K HDR UHD

Awesome picture , sharp clear and bright . Couldn’t ask for more in that department .The sound is pretty good, not super but totally adequate for general use, if you are hard core cinema enthusiasts you will have an external system anyway . You can add a Bluetooth stereo/speaker as well.BUT this is an Australian model. As such you have to set the country to Australia during setup or you can’t use any smart features. This means you can’t download any NZ apps, like TVNZ+ etc.LG support has been incredibly good, I have spent many hours on the phone to get to this point and thought it would be good to add this info to the review to save others from having to go through it.

A Real Winner

I really would only give this 4.5 stars for only one reason. I cannot understand why this particular product does not have all of the same apps that my LG OLED TV does. For example. there is no Hulu app, no YoutubeTV app and no Paramount+ app for some reason. With streaming devices so cheap, it is not that big of an issue, but it does mean you take up an HDMI port for what should essentially be an unneeded device. I will give them kudos for at least adding three HDMI ports so you have an extra over most competitors.As for the positives, this projector is BRIGHT, which is great for using with some light in the room. It also is very sharp and clean in the picture department once you set it up properly and set the focus to the point that it is very TV like. Sound is also great, as it is really a sound bar built in it a projector casing and it even supports additional wireless speakers for a surround setup without the need for a receiver. Add in the many ways to calibrate and fine tune the picture and you have a real winner., especially given the price.

Good Ultra short Throw projector, when on sale.

Had the projector for almost 2 weeks now. Upgraded from a BenQ HT1075. Loved the BenQ but it was time to upgrade to a 4k projector. Setup was annoying. It was hard to level and get a great picture out of the box. Took over an hour messing around with moving it, rotating it, tilting it, to fit perfectly on the projector screen.Once I had it set up, the 4k Image on bright scenes, such in daylight setting is amazing. Once you go to a dark scene, it lacks to impress. Still sharp but the colors/contrast is dull. Still an upgrade from the previous projector, but I was expecting more.I was debating about returning it, but.I ended up getting this unit on sale for about 2,000.00. The LG smart tv app interface is on par with the TV's however I will hook it up to an apple tv as they are missing quite a few apps, such as paramount plus and HBO max.Speakers did not disappoint. They were much better than anticipated.I do not watch the projector in a bright room so I cannot say how it works if you have light shaded windows.So far I am happy with the projector, even though it does not completely impress me, for the price point, it is really good.The most annoying thing about this projector is the fan noise. It is not loud but at times has this high pitched sound that make watching it annoying. Anyway would still recommend.

Good image quality if the projection wasn't warped

Purchased this projector new after previously purchasing and returning a used model. I returned the first one for an issue where the top left corner of the image was warped inward about 4-6 on a 120 projection, only to find the exact same issue on the new model I purchased afterwards. Tried on multiple surfaces to make sure my screen/wall wasn't to blame. I tried using the edge adjustment to align it, but the warp left a bump out between the points on the left side because of the correction of the other points inward. For a projector that retails near $3000, I shouldn't have this issue on two different units.

Good picture for 1 year

Purchased for use in generally dedicated area paired with an Elite Screens CLR 120” screen. Brightness reduction from CLR screen maybe impacts total lumens, but still visible in all light conditions. Overall clarity and picture quality good. Top of frame though has warpage of about 1” at center peak of screen. Not noticeable under 99% of viewing, but observable when adjusting focus and alignment. Unfortunately at 13.5 months from start of use, a stuck on white pixel has happened at about 2 feet to the right of screen center. LG currently has the projector for out of warranty repair at my expense (about 30% of new price) as it is 1.5 months out of warranty. Great "Affordable" UST Projector

A solid ultra short throw projector with surprisingly great color accuracy. (Go to projector central for a list og calibration settings). There are very few rainbow artifacts for a DLP projector. The auto low latency mode (ALLM) works great with 60 ms input delay. I am currently using on a non-alr screen. The projector is bright but an ALR-screen is required for daytime watching. The filmaker mode with "cinema screen" feature syncs with up with 24hz to eliminate judder as much as possible. You can also pick up a cheap subwoofer and attach it via optical out and the projector allows you to use both in house speakers and any other speaker attached simultaneously. Great TV replacement

We bought this to replace our main TV. We like not having a TV in our living room. The picture is exceptional. We project onto a textured wall, but we do not mind the imperfections. We were going to buy a UST projector screen, but now prefer to use just the wall. The picture is bright, even during the day. The unit is easy to use and it is nice having quick access to Netflix, Prime, Disney+, and Apple TV. I wish it also had Hulu, but we use our Firestick for Hulu. Highly recommend.

Great UST Projector

I am pretty happy with my new short throw projector. Previously I had a standard projector but after moving things around I decided a short throw would work better. It works really well, it can create a huge picture being just few inches away from the wall. The picture quality is great, you can really see the detail in 4k video. I’m using the cinema mode and it provides life like colors. It gets really bright with the laser light engine. I’m glad I won’t have to replace any expensive bulbs. This projector runs WebOS so you can install all of the popular streaming services and it’s all built in. The remote is a magic remote so that’s great. Great offering at a decent price point!

Great value for money. Amazing picture quality and decent contrast and color representation for the price point. Sound handling is excellent. Setting up was easy, WebOS presents easy navigation and clean interface but wished it had better support for more apps. The browser is very responsive and did not see that crashing ever. I could hear some fan noise occasionally as I use it in a small room. I don’t use it for games, so no complaints there. I did have couple of minor issues where the colors faded and video cut out while watching YouTube but this did not reoccur.

Top Quality Projector

All I can say is I didn't expect the top notch performance from an Ultra Short Projector! I am really impressed how well this LG HU715QW has done in my viewing tests. I think LG has definitely put a lot of thought to the outcome of this projector as they polished WebOS - the interface that runs the HU715QW as well as picture quality. I mean this simply and beautifully compares to my LG G1 OLED TV only outperforms it size as I can enjoy the movie in a size bigger that my 77" G1 can do. The 4K picture is stunning, the contrast is tuned, the blacks are great and color reproduction is truly something to behold. I found it easy to set up and it was beaming a beautiful scene from an HDR 4K source within minutes. The LG HU715Q generates 2,500 ANSI lumens with a laser light source which is a winner in my book. I found the interface was snappy, lots of great available apps, I also set up the Home Dashboard which allowed me to control all my ThinQ devices I have at home: from LG smart washing machine to my LG Robotic vacuum R9. The remote is very familiar to me as well and feels very comfortable to operate, but in the future I'd prefer something a bit smaller and more stylish. The sound is something I was also very surprised to hear, the built in 40 W speakers are great and reproduce excellent sound, and if you want a more powerful punch connect any soundbar and subwoofer and you will be enjoying your cinematic experience in your home.I would definitely recommend this projector to anyone who is looking to have a home theater setup with no crazy modifications as this projector simply needs to be placed by the wall literally within inches and show you the impressive picture that you will be very happy with!
