I am very unhappy with my purchase. The layout of my Family Room required the projector to be mounted slightly off center from the screen. What should have been a simple keystone correction has left me with a permanently trapezoidal picture. Despite this projector costing significantly more than the average projector it does not have BASIC features. I reached out to LG Tech Support and was disappointed to learn that while it does have digital keystone correction, it only has vertical NOT horizontal. Their only suggestion was to relocate the projector which is simply not possible. Unless you can be 100% positive that you’re able to mount perfectly centered in relation to your screen please save yourself the headache, hassle, and money.

Just picked up this projector to replace a solid 10 year old Mitsubishi. So far so good. Image is great and was brighter than I expected given the 1500 lumen rating and reviews. Remote is a fun novelty too. Not sure why people comment on audio or operating system. I just plugged in a 4k fire TV and Bluetooth a speaker. Those products are designed to do one thing so the projector doesn't have to. May upgrade to 5 star once I've used it a while and seen how it performs with a proper home theatre set up. But so far I'm pleased with this purchase

First and foremost this is an amazing home theater projector. Perfect size as it is not too bulky or too small. With 15000 Lumins this projector gives off an amazing 4K picture. The blacks are true blacks and the colors are very vibrant. This projector is feature packed with LG Contents store that allows you to install various apps. 2x HDMI and 1 USB-C allows for external connects to devices such as gaming consoles and media streaming devices. This CineBeam projector has Google Assistant and Alexa Capabilities which worked wonderfully. The sound quality from the internal speakers are average. The remote has dedicated Netflix and Amazon Video buttons which worked well. Built into this system is the ability to recognize external devices such as my Nintendo Switch which is really cool. A litany of mobile apps allow you to use a tablet or mobile device as a remote as well. From 9' away you get an 84" screen and can max out at around 120". The setup for this projector was super easy. My only wish for this device is to have more video streaming apps available or the ability to cast apps from an external device to the projector. The response rate of video and sound is amazing. I give the LG CineBeam HU70LAB projector a 5/5 stars . I only wish for the price that there are more apps available .

The LG HU70LAB CineBeam Projector offers amazing picture quality, features and brightness at a low cost, for a 4K projector. It is packed with features including auto-focus (so you never have to worry about getting the picture perfectly crisp), smart apps (including TV Tuner, Netflix, YouTube, etc. which is great since you don't have to hook anything up to it), zoom feature if you need to make it fit a wall, Google Assistant / alexa (no typing to search for shows!) , and HDR10 with Dynamic Tone Mapping (better, brighter colors that are truer to the original).I was so surprised how vibrant and bright the colors were, even when I was using it in the day light! One of my favorite features is the remote it comes with. While they work if you are sitting by the projector, or if you want to watch a movie somewhere other than your home setup, you won't be happy with them long term. I would definitely recommend having a soundbar or surround sound setup to complement the projector. After having tested the projector inside, and outside for a movie night with friends, I'm confident in recommending the HU70LAB if you're looking for a high quality 4K projector. It delivers amazing picture quality, is packed with features, and has the versatility to fill a wide range of needs.

[Rewarded Review] Amazing Projector, you really can't go wrong

It's hard to write a detailed review against the competition, but I went with this projector since it is like having a LG TV. The fact that I can go between streaming and actual TV made this choice easy. The picture is amazing even in a slightly lit room. With over head lights on in my basement entertainment area, the picture is still great. I love the apps that are able to be downloaded straight to the projector. I would like to see them get more apps available though. The features and settings are all easy to use. I really like the magic remote. The zooming and focusing is super simple and keystone correction works well also. I was able to get this unit on sale so that took some of the sting away from the sticker price. [Rewarded Review] BUYER BEWARE
9 January 2025

I bought this projector in November 2021 and it is already falling apart. Writing this on Jan 2025. I use it with my PS5 and it is overheating and turning off with minimal use. The projector also no longer communicates with the remote. I took excellent care of this projector and used it minimally since I bought it (definitely less than 1000 hours of use). I'm overall disappointed by the quality of the build, and of course, the warranty has already expired. With the price of this projector, I expected it to last much longer than this. LG customer service was totally useless and basically referred me to the Best Buy Geek Squad for additional help. I was happy with it until it stopped working.

[Rewarded Review] Easy to use smart projector
11 September 2020

We have a finished basement that our family likes to use for entertaining. We wanted to upgrade from a TV to a projector, but didn't want to lose features of a smart TV. The LG HU70LAB 4K UHD LED Smart Home Theater CineBeam Projector was the perfect choice because it literally replaced our smart TV. The projector has a ton streaming services built in such as Netflix, Disney Plus, Fandango and more (and even more in the future with firmware updates!). Because of the UHD/4K resolution, I switched my Netflix account to the premium because it allows for 4K streaming and I wanted to get the best picture I could with the projector. The light on the projector is LED, which should last 30,000 hours according to the manual - that's 25, 000 more hours than the non LED ... MoreWe have a finished basement that our family likes to use for entertaining. The light on the projector is LED, which should last 30,000 hours according to the manual - that's 25, 000 more hours than the non LED projectors. The projector has built in speakers, but I recommend getting a blue tooth LG soundbar. The projector has blue tooth connectivity, so it's easy to set up blue tooth speakers (which is what I did). Connecting my blue tooth speakers was easy, and there are step by step prompts. The remote control that comes with the projector has many features that allow my family to focus on entertainment and not worry about how to use the remote. The remote has Google Assistant, a direct access button to Netflix and Amazon Video, voice recognition, and the LG ThinQ technology. What I like most about the remote is the voice recognition because it allows my kids and elderly parents use the remote with ease. My elderly parents have always been confused by remotes, but the voice recognition on this remote is excellent. The projector connected wireless to my home internet which made the smart features available. I was undecided whether to mount the projector or have it sit table side, but now that I've used it table side, I suggest mounting it if possible. The reason I suggest this is because it connects using wireless and blue tooth, it's ok to have it out of the way to make the room look more sleek, physically accessing the projector isn't necessary. It's not necessary to have, but a universal projector mount is a possible accessory that you may want to look into purchasing. We currently have the projector projecting on a 120 inch screen and the picture looks fantastic. I like that we can watch movies or TV with the light on or off due to the brightness. I also like how realistic and bright the colors are. It's enjoyable to watch movies, tv, and play video games! I highly recommend. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.

Seven years ago, we purchased a high-end Sony SXRD 4K projector, a bit ahead of the 4K/HDR curve, but have enjoyed it for many years. Recently, the light engine failed in a way that won't allow it to be converged anymore. We now have a JVC D-ILA 8K laser projector on order (c'mon supply chain!!!), but have been sorely missing viewing movies on the 100 screen. After much research, and comparing/contrasting (no pun) it to theBenQ HT3550 color wheel projector, we decided to pull the trigger on the LG CineBeam projector for two reasons:1) no rainbow effect2) 30,000 hour LED lamp lifeI am happy to report that we're DELIGHTED by this powerful, incredibly bright little projector. It sits dutifully on our coffee table, pointing 9 feet away from a 100 Screen Innovations Black Diamond 1.4 (gain) projector screen. The picture is crisper and sharper than the big Sony ever was, and the HDR effect for standard dynamic range content is pretty impressive. It's true, as other reviews have pointed out, that the blacks aren't inky black; not even close. This causes some darker HDR material to look a bit washed out, and dimming or turning off the lights really doesn't help. However, in a high-nit bright scene, the projector's light output and observed contrast is amazing. It's the kind of output that makes you squint your eyes when a scene transitions from dark to bright. In summary, we love this little projector, and plan to use it occasionally for temporary, portable use (perhaps outdoors), even after the new JVC projector comes in. Highly recommended.

We'd never really needed a projector before, and in my occasional research, never found a good one that fit our needs anyway. This became a means to gather again though - distanced, but all able to enjoy the movie du joir.In the last 2 weeks since buying it, we’ve had friends over to experience this beast. The image is so large that people can stretch out: in the pool (our kids), and across the back deck (week 1 – projected against the house), or across the driveway and front lawn while (week 2 – projected on the garage door), and all have a movie-quality experience, bringing us closer to the days before the negativity of coronavirus. All were blown away by the image quality, motion quality, and brightness – even in moderate light near dusk, where most units struggle. As a former optical engineer that worked on displays, the color representations are AMAZING… minor calibration was done initially (just because I’m a stickler), but even out-of-the-box, I was wowed by the color gamut. We eventually plan to remove the entertainment center & make this our primary family room unit, but for now, are having too much fun with the portability! While I love the addition, I’d like to offer a few suggestions. First/foremost, the remote needs to be UHF, not infrared. For the first 20 mins, I thought I had a defective remote, dead batteries, or defective projector sensor. Not fun, when everyone wants to start and the tech whiz is looking for batteries. Thankfully, I saw the guide while getting new AA’s & noticed a rear *IR* receiver in the diagram. For people who ceiling mount & have a lip between rooms (as we do), this could be problematic if not mounted just right. Second, internal sound is low… I had to disconnect a soundbar & attach to the projector outside as no one outside could hear beyond a foot or two away, even at max volume. Finally, YouTube TV needs to be an internal app! It is for LG TV's, please add it here - I don't want another unnecessary HDMI stick please!

The set up was very easy and straight forward. If you ever owned an LG TV or any similar smart TV, it is pretty much the same set up process. LG Web OS is built in in this projector and it is very intuitive and fluid, and it walked me up through the initial set up. This projector comes with a nice white Magic Remote control I am very familiar with because I already own an LG TV. As I mentioned the Web OS on this projector is extremely fast and intuitive and offers a slew of apps from YouTube, Prime TV to Netflix, and other entertainment content. Here is one amazing feature this projector has that differentiates it from other projectors - TV tuner! Yes, you can connect your antenna and scan for available local HD channels and you got yourself free TV content like ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and lots of other channels you may never heard of. I think this is so smart of LG to offer TV Tuner! Now to the viewing experience, my family was simply floored when I projected almost 140" movie on the wall. The 4K picture quality is crisp and vivid! You can see lots of detail, and the darker the room the better the results. I also tried using this projector in the daylight and it worked good, however you may want to have it installed in a room with some curtains. One thing I have to mention that needs to be addressed is the sound. I would highly recommend connecting a soundbar for best results. There is an HDMI input that supports Audio Return Channel and it will be a huge upgrade to your sound stage. The projector itself has a built-in speaker, however it is not very loud.We are very pleased with this home theater projector, it will be definitely used a lot for movies, video games and other entertainment. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to save some money and space to get this LG miracle.
