I LOVE that this unit has a drain hole that a hose can be connected to to avoid drips down my siding! I love that this unit has a "dry" feature for days that are humid but not hot so that my bedroom isn't sticky. It's quieter than my last unit which is good at night as well. It cools my room down to the selected set point with zero issues at night. This was the third unit of this brand that we've purchased in the last 12 months so I would recommend this to family and friends. Our first unit is still blowing cold in our dining room for its' second summer. (It's a 8,000 unit.) Our second unit is on the same floor as the dining room and installed in an old wood window on our first floor in our guest/home office room. We plan to buy a 4th unit before this summer ends for the second bedroom upstairs. I picked this up via curbside pickup which went flawlessly. I managed to haul it up to my bedroom without dropping it. The straps on the outside of the box make it easier to carry so if you buy it don't open the box unitl you have it in the room where you plan to install it. When you do open it just cut the straps and lift the box off the stryfoam base so that you have a great way to store it over the winter in the original box.

This air conditioner is not quite as strong as I hoped it would be. It works pretty well. But to be honest, the room I'm trying to cool is a loft area. Even though I've blocked it with many screens, there's some open air flow to the room below. This unit does cool the room enough for me to sleep, which is really what I'd hoped it would do. It was easy to set up, easy to use, I like that there is an "eco" option, and I like having a remote. If the room was a small bedroom with no open flow area, I think it would work well, and would probably merit an "excellent" rating.

This is a very quiet and efficient window air conditioner. I almost did not buy it because the description said 230-Volt. I hope someone will fix the description. It plugs into a regular 15 amp household outlet. It is the only 6000 BTU (smallest efficient one available) air conditioner to win the Energy Star most efficient 2024 award. It is plenty big for any room in our house.I did buy some expanding foam tape to better seal the window and AC. Some of the foam that came with it was not usable because the foam had been permanently compressed by what it was tied up with.

Excellent AC for a small room
9 September 2021

Purchased this unit for a spare bedroom/home office. It works great! Makes tons of glorious cold air even on the hottest days. The room it is installed in is ~10'x12' with 8' ceilings, and contains a fair amount of things that put off heat (computer equipment), but this AC keeps the room a perfect 72 degrees regardless. This is a pretty basic, no-frills AC, but honestly what more features do you really need? This device's function is to remove heat from a room, and it does that exceedingly well. All 3 fan speed options serve a purpose; speed 1 is quiet for stealthy/nighttime operation, speed 2 is a bit faster, and speed 3 really moves the air! Obviously the faster a fan spins, the louder it is ;) however I've kept this one at speed 3 since it came out of the box ... MorePurchased this unit for a spare bedroom/home office. It works great! Obviously the faster a fan spins, the louder it is ;) however I've kept this one at speed 3 since it came out of the box and it doesn't bother me at all.Installation is dead-easy, put it in your window and turn it on! This is a small AC as window units go, and in some cases you may not even need a support bracket, but it's a good idea to have one anyway. The best thing about this AC (and about all window ACs) is that they do not induce negative pressure in the room they are in. Single-hose portable ACs use the ambient air (i.e., air in the room you are trying to cool) to blow over the condenser and cool the refrigerant, but in doing so that ambient air is sucked out of the room. This causes negative pressure, so that all the hot air outside will eventually get sucked into the room with the AC. Learned this the hard way in June when my region experienced its highest ever recorded temperatures.Anyways, if you're shopping for an inexpensive window AC for a smallish room, this is an excellent choice to consider. I have yet to find something about this AC that I do not like. On sale it was $176 out the door.

Not Bad for Temp-to-Permanent Use
16 November 2023

Bought for temporary cooling of master BR when central A/C failed (Florida in the summer). Worked so well cooling the BR, I decided to keep it installed. Now, I use it to cool the room at night so I can leave the central A/C on a higher temperature for the rest of the house - saves $$. Although it is a bit louder than the central A/C, it's about the same as many motel thru-wall units; and, it acts as white noise to cover up sounds from outside and neighbors (townhouse). It does allow more sunlight into the room (faces south), it is tolerable (expanding flaps could be a bit more opaque). Although I had to jury-rig it a bit, to fit the aluminum window sill, it wasn't too bad; and I was able to seal it up pretty well. Temperature control problems
20 September 2024

Ordered thru Lowes, but unit did not function properly. The compressor and fun operated correctly, but would not reach set temperature. Even running it in cool mode with the temp set to min (60 deg) the compressor would run for a while then shut off. Like it had reached set temp, even though it was set for 60 deg and the room was at 78 deg. The room is well within the 250 ft. Compressor would start at times then shut down. Would not cool the room. It was like the sensor thst tells the unit the entering air temp was a lot different that it actually was. Saw a few other people had this same issue. Returned to Lowes for refund. Disappointing.

This air conditioner runs well and I like the air vents on top of the unit instead of facing on the front. However, this year I noticed rust on the outside fins and at the bottom of the unit. I’ve never had an issue with other make/models for rust issues. I contacted the company and their response was that they were not responsible for rust issues. While trying to clean the delicate fins with a scour pad, I inspected the bottom and noticed a black cap and removed it. I found water coming out of it.It is probably my fault for not noticing that before, but the instruction manual should have indicated the cap must be removed so condensation water could drain. I guess both the company and myself were in error.Otherwise, I’m very happy with the unit and hope it ... MoreThis air conditioner runs well and I like the air vents on top of the unit instead of facing on the front. However, this year I noticed rust on the outside fins and at the bottom of the unit. [Rewarded Review] Big Performance From A Small Unit
30 May 2023

The main reason I bought the LG LW6017R Window AC is that it was the only Window AC that would fit the small metal-framed windows on a shed I had built. The height of this LG Window AC was perfect.12" was the maximum height of my window opening and the LG Window AC came in just under that. I was surprised that such a small unit was capable of 6000 BTU. Most of the other window air conditioners with similar dimensions were 5000 BTU or less. I did have to modify the framed side panels because my metal windows had tabbed window locks which prevented the side panels from filling in the gap between the AC unit and the window frame. I also had to modify the L brackets by drilling another hole in them so they would fit the metal brackets of the windows without penetrating ... MoreThe main reason I bought the LG LW6017R Window AC is that it was the only Window AC that would fit the small metal-framed windows on a shed I had built. I also had to modify the L brackets by drilling another hole in them so they would fit the metal brackets of the windows without penetrating the glass. Both of these modifications were due to the window type and had nothing to do with the LG Window Air Conditioner. If I had standard wooden hung windows there would not have been any problems. I was happy to be able to come up with a fix and work around the problems encountered with the small metal shed windows. I love all the features of the LG LW 6017R Window AC and the remote control is convenient. The batteries were also included. I actually bought two of these ac units because my shed is over 400 square feet and I could run one at a time or even both depending on where I am working in the shed. They pull about 4.8 amps each and I'm on a 15-amp breaker. I can run both units and my lighting and am still under 15 amps. The LG LW6017R is a Big performer for such a small unit,

[Rewarded Review] Quick Mold Growth - LG Unhelpful
23 September 2024

We bought this air conditioner 1.5 years ago and recently noticed that mold was growing on the inside of the AC. We have been following the recommended guidance for replacing and cleaning the filter yet this still happened. Since it has been over a year LG won't do anything, it is impossible to open the AC and reach where the mold is to clean it while being aware of the electrical parts inside of it. It is a little ridiculous that this would happen so soon after buying it while following manufacturers care instructions. The only solution we are left with (besides paying someone more than what the AC is worth to attempt to clean it) is to buy a new one. There is a filter light that comes on if you accidentally press the upper and lower temp buttons at the same time. Just push them both again at the same time and it goes off. This unit has a thermostat that shuts it off when it reaches temp and kicks back on when it goes over. My electric bill has never been cheaper! i could go on and on. i will definitely have to save up for another one to stick in the cargo trailer as originally planned.
