When the IR thermometer is off, hold smiley face button and scan the forehead from one side to other (1 - 1.5cm above the eyebrow to temple). Release the button and see the temperature reading on LCD display. You can take another reading when the backlight is off. Measuring the ear temperature. When the IR thermometer is off, take off the sensor cover. Gently insert the probe in the ear canal and press ear button and release.The reading is shown on LCD display. You can take another reading when the backlight is off. Fever Warning When the reading exceeds 37.5C / 99.5F, this product shall warn the user that he/she may have a fever by 7 rapid and short rings with LCD flashing. For normal forehead readings, the signal is a long ring and no LCD flashing.
