LifeStraw Green Personal Water Filter

$39.24

(1,204 reviews)

The LifeStraw is a water filtering straw that filters out 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria including E. coli and salmonella and 99.9% of waterborne protozoa including Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Due to its compact size (9" in length by 1" in diameter) and light weight (2 ounces), this water filter is ideal for backpacking, camping, travel, and even emergency preparedness. LifeStraw lets you filter up to 264 gallons (1,000 liters) of water. This means if you use this filter every day for all of your drinking water, it will last approximately one year! This handy water filter needs no power, batteries, or replacement parts, and is BPA and chemical free. Its raw materials meet US FDA regulations and standards, and has no aftertaste. If you have used your LifeStraw, be sure to not expose to freezing temperatures - water inside can freeze and crack the filter which you might not see. The LifeStraw is not dishwasher safe - simply rinse with water and leave uncapped to dry. Do not drink pool water with the LifeStraw, it will not remove chemicals including chlorine.

Absolutely amazing - game changer

I recently bought a LifeStraw — was out of the loop for way too long! This thing is absolutely amazing. It’s a game-changer. I set up camp in a secret spot in the woods next to a mountain stream, and my new LifeStraw has allowed me to stop purchasing so much bottled water to bring to camp. Now I can just go down to the stream and drink whenever I’m thirsty, safely, and it is up there with the best water I have ever tasted. For convenience, I’ve started collecting stream water into a big stockpot to bring to camp so I don’t have to climb down to the stream every time I need a drink. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who like exploring the outdoors, even if you just go on hikes every once in a while. The product barely, barely works, and then after 3 uses doesn't work at all. Don't waste your money. It sure sounds like a good idea. Don't carry all that water, just carry a LifeStraw and a collapsible cup for a day fishing on a nice trout stream. This product is junk. I'm 6'2", 200# and in good shape. You have to suck on this like your life depends on it to get meager trickle of water out. I arrived back at my truck with a headache after a warm day - thirsty. I got it out to use a few months later and now it doesn't work at all. LifeStraw really shouldn't offer this cheapo product as it does nothing but hurt their brand. Don't waste your money.

Lifestraw Sucks......and that means it performs perfectly! I have purchased three of these for stocking stuffers for my sons. All three love to go camping and hiking in the woods. Yes, they pack water with them, but if anything were to happen, or if, for some reason they were to get lost in the woods, lifestraw will be their backpack. As a mom, I feel better knowing that if anything were to happen, they would still have access to clean water. Thank you life straw, for the peace of mind your product gives me!

Lightweight lifesaver!

Bought this to accompany our recent 9 day backpacking adventure - split between the Idaho wilderness and Glacier MT. Had the kids with me for their first experience -not- car camping. Everyone had a LifeStraw, and more fun was had sipping out of the various creeks than I could have imagined. All these years of just boiling the water...this generation has it so good. Lightweight, great to fill a bottle on the go -drop the straw in- and quench the hiking thirst, which was significant with this year's smoke :(. Kids liked the strap to wear around their necks. The only issue was 3 kids, 3 identical straws...they solved their ownership issue with some personalized light scuffing at the campsite. Saved Our Lives
18 June 2019

My boyfriend and I went on a backpacking trip along the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin that ended in nothing but disaster. Night one our (very expensive) water pump broke and we were stuck in the middle of no where with no potable water and a 3 day hike out. Thank goodness he had brought along his LifeStraw because I can honestly say it saved us on that trip. It was our only means of getting clean water other then boiling it and we relied on it for the remaining 3 days of out trip in the back country. We used it to drink right out of rivers and lakes because there was barely any water along the trail. We figured we would get sick because the Straw is so small, light and compact that there was no way it could filter the all but bog water we had to drink but it did! This Product Saved my Dog’s Life
3 August 2022

I tried it in the brackish water and my thirst was quenched to the highest degree. It saved my dog, Rico’s life by being able to fill up a bucket we found in the junkyard on our walk and Rico drank out of the straw. It was kind of weird touching the same straw that my doggy dog just touched by I’m finally hydrated after 6 long years! I’m so happy to bring this into work and have my co-workers use it while we stay bustin’ in our 9-5. God bless LifeStraw.

Totally failed me
4 August 2020

I owned the LifeStraw for 2 years now. I've been keeping it as a backup, and I've tested it multiple times. Yesterday I started a 120km trail and the trail was very dry, which I didn't anticipated. I quickly went out of water at km 10. Since my water tabs didn't fit the bill for muddy water, I quickly turned to the LifeStraw (there was only boggy leftovers from crossings). To my surprise, it wouldn't work. No matter the amount of suction I made, the water wouldn't go through. I tried to blow the other way, since that's in the instruction, that didn't work neither. I had to walk 5 km to the next road in the heat (with my huge hiking pack) and I dehydrated. I'm lucky the next road was this close. The LifeStraw is going straight to the garbage bin for me. End of rant.

Try the LifeStraw BEFORE you need it and have a plan B
14 July 2022

Like many other reviewers, I bought a LifeStraw for hiking. Fortunately, I tried it at home, soaking it beforehand in clean water in a glass. I was never able to get water through. Got the more expensive but definitely more reliable Sawyer-mini. I do hope that nobody will suffer the consequences that could result from relying on such an unreliable product.

Very useful!
14 June 2023

Love this thing! Me and my friends went camping and the well had water full of rust. We filled up gallon jugs and used a inner tube to seal the gap between the Life-straw and the mouth of the jug and made a hour glass contraption with the dirty water on top, and the clean would go through the filter and into the empty bottom jug. We filtered at least 8 or 9 gallons this way. A few weeks later and everyone is perfectly fine. I highly recommend this product. (Make sure you clean it regularly when filtering lots of water. Usually every two gallons or so.)

Water bottle didn't work from the first try/ worst customer
31 August 2023

I bought a lifestraw water bottle over a year ago but never had a chance to use it. Finally I got to use it....I COULDN'T SUCK WATER THRU IT. I tried everything. When I emailed them for a replacement (maybe I got a dud?) They replied that it needed to be within a year BUT the bottle lasts for years??? A COMPANY NOT WILLING TO BACK THEIR PRODUCT??? U LOST A GOOD CUSTOMER. I will definitely be telling people about my experience.
