So I use this a little differently. I seem to never have the time and energy to constantly be buying gallons of water or packs of bottled water. No, theyre not crazy heavy, but theyre heavy enough that its a big inconvenience. After buying water for years because I grew up in an area where you cant drink tap water and it still feels weird for me, I bought this life straw. Im an occasional hiker and traveler, but I dont travel enough to need this for its actual use. I just get a bowl of tap water and use this straw on it sometimes when I dont have any water to drink at home.I now live in an area where the tap water is extremely clean and almost everyone drinks tap water. However, I still dont like the taste of tap water. It does feel like my faucet adds a weird taste ... MoreSo I use this a little differently. And its really convenient cuz you can just get cold tap and use this.I found it really easy to use. I have pretty bad lung capacity but was able to use it with only a little extra effort. You do have to suck strongly, but its not to a level an adult cant handle. It doesnt make sense for the water to flow through easily when its being filtered through many layers. What I do is take like 10-20 tiny strong sucks to get the water filled up in the straw. And then I just suck a couple times when I want to drink water. It isnt the same as gulping water, but it quenches your thirst for sure.If youre planning on using it like I do, Id recommend. Ive never tried it on super muddy water, so cant comment on that, but I can imagine, just how tightly packed the filters feel, Im sure no visible gross stuff can get through that. As for the microbacterial stuff that gets filtered dont quote me on this cuz Im not sure, I guess were gonna have to trust their word for it.

I recently bought a LifeStraw — was out of the loop for way too long! This thing is absolutely amazing. It’s a game-changer. I set up camp in a secret spot in the woods next to a mountain stream, and my new LifeStraw has allowed me to stop purchasing so much bottled water to bring to camp. Now I can just go down to the stream and drink whenever I’m thirsty, safely, and it is up there with the best water I have ever tasted. For convenience, I’ve started collecting stream water into a big stockpot to bring to camp so I don’t have to climb down to the stream every time I need a drink. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who like exploring the outdoors, even if you just go on hikes every once in a while. Imagine hiking to a waterfall and then drinking out ... MoreI recently bought a LifeStraw — was out of the loop for way too long! This thing is absolutely amazing. It’s a game-changer. We have purchased life straws before. We keep them for our family in case of emergency. We used one to test and loved it so much that we bought more! Every family member has a straw, our camper has enough straws for our family and we have the bottles to filter water for pets. After Helene hit ETN, I bought the community filter to make sure we will have water if a disaster comes our way. Life straws is our go to and always recommended to our family and friends!

I bought these because they work. I wanted everyone in my family to have one. At such a good price, I put some away for an emergency. They are small and can be stored anywhere really and such a simple thing to ensure that you don't get sick whenever you are not quite sure what is in your water. Easy to follow steps to store a filter that's been used before as well. Just a couple bucks compared to other prices today too.
This is the most compact water filter you can buy and is the highest quality. Lasts for a long time if looked after. With a product like this you must not buy from a source that can't be trusted, even some big retailers may not check the provenance, there are a lot of knock off water filters. I trust Canadian Preparedness to ensure these are genuine filters and I wasn't disappointed, delivered quickly to Japan Many thanks.NB It says in the instructions that for long term storage you should add some salt water, so bear that in mind if you are keeping it for emergencies only.
Quality of the product appears very good. Packaging was also good and sturdy; all cardboard and recyclable. Product itself is long which was expected. Wish it was a bit more compact as these are going into emergency packs for future use as needed. Hopefully we will never have to use then, but happy to have in case of emergency. Gave them 4 stars since I've never tested them, but I believe in the product.
Have not had reason to try yet. Bought in case of emergency. One straw came in an enclosed package as opposed to the others which were in cardboard holders and exposed to the elements. I do not understand why there is a difference in the packaging but I would prefer they all were in an enclosed package which in my mind keeps them clean and sterile until I actually need to use. This to me is better for long term storage since they supposedly do not have a shelf life.
Love this thing! Me and my friends went camping and the well had water full of rust. We filled up gallon jugs and used a inner tube to seal the gap between the Life-straw and the mouth of the jug and made a hour glass contraption with the dirty water on top, and the clean would go through the filter and into the empty bottom jug. We filtered at least 8 or 9 gallons this way. A few weeks later and everyone is perfectly fine. I highly recommend this product. (Make sure you clean it regularly when filtering lots of water. Usually every two gallons or so.)
I bought this to have for preperation, its always a good idea to be able to purify water on the go. I have also used while camping in the Sawtooths where I know the water is purely from snow. I dont know if id use in lower elevations where boats cruse around or where farm fertilizer runs off into the water. don't get down in the mud to drink like all the photos show. use your brain and scoop the water into a cup the filter/ drink.
I believe the reviews and the lab work. I have had some weird problems hit me at two different homes in different parts of the country that compromised the water quality into the houses. One home is in a rural area with its own water supply and a UV purification system. We run cattle and have had them for years on the land. A neighbor who introduced cows to his land wound up with E. Coli in the collection box that feeds our house water. Separately, we have a home in a metro area 2,000 miles away from the rural one, where the water treatment plant mailed a notice of accidental insufficient water treatment with the recommendation that water be flushed out of outside spigots for 30 mins to clear out any polluted water. The notice was 6 weeks past the timing of the ... MoreI believe the reviews and the lab work. The notice was 6 weeks past the timing of the event and we had no way of knowing what water might not be fully treated. And then 6 months later, we received another postcard, because it had happened again!!I have now gone to using a Lifestraw Home Glass pitcher in each place. Additionally, my husband and I travel all over the globe for his work and my small experience makes me realize that I have no idea who is managing the water treatment where we go… So I am an adopter of the Lifestraw technology for daily use wherever I am. Thrice burned, “well you’re not gonna fool me again” to misquote a past President. Thank you for making the world safer one drink at a time!
