I received this product from Influenster in return for my honest review. I wanted to love this product because I thought this was such an amazing idea and I am such a straw user, I use a straw for anything I drink! So I thought this would be perfect for when I’m out at a restaurant and request an ice water. But the only problem is it’s huge. It’s not like a normal straw, it’s bigger than the size of my forearm. And the case is even bigger so it’s not something you can just throw in your purse. You would have to have a huge bag that it can fit in. Also when using it you have to suck really hard in order to work the water through the filter. So all and all it’s just a bit inconvenient to use everyday. If anything it’s more of a straw you reach for in an emergency. ... MoreI received this product from Influenster in return for my honest review. So far, this is the coolest thing Influenster has sent me. It came with a carry case, which is super hygienic. I don't know why I expected it to filter out the taste too, but just so you know, the taste of the water doesn't change. I tested it with tap water, and the taste stayed the same. The package says it removes bacteria, parasites, and microplastics. I don't have a home water test kit, so I can't confirm that part. It's a bit hard to sip from—you really need to suck up the water. But to be fair, you are drinking directly from a filter, so it's relatively easy considering that. Overall, this is a cool gadget to take on hikes or camping trips. It's super convenient, lightweight, and space-saving, plus it comes in a cool color. I found out they come in five ... MoreSo far, this is the coolest thing Influenster has sent me. I was so excited about receiving and using this product because I’m a super eco friendly no waste person and also a bit of a germophobe. Having this new stainless steel life straw is exactly what I needed to ensure safe drinking water anywhere I go. It’s durable and feels high quality. Even though I’m not a super outdoorsy person, it’s still a versatile product and works well for my lifestyle. I like to keep the life straw in my bag for when I go out to restaurants or places where I know I may not be able to drink bottled water. I had a situation before where a restaurant served my table water with visible particles in it which turned me off from drinking water at restaurants for a long time. The life straw makes me feel secure knowing that my drinking water is safe ... MoreI was so excited about receiving and using this product because I’m a super eco friendly no waste person and also a bit of a germophobe. Next time I will grab the purple color.

Thank you for a product like this that can be carried around easily and used anyplace in the world. My rating of 4 is because of the readability of the instructions.I have one suggestion you need to take seriously. First, I am 82 years old and my eyes are not what they were when I was 20. All of the instructions about this produce are very hard for me to read. They are is a tiny 2 point type style that barely meets legal requirements. I looked up the long term cleaning instructions, downloaded the .PDF and printed it. The typestyle was so light it strained my 82 year old eyes to read it. You had nice dark bullet point titles, but then faded out the instructions. Please pay more attention to the readability of your instructions for all of your products.
When I travel, I've been buying a lot of bottled water because I'm uncertain about the safety of the water in some areas. Having the Lifestraw Sip means I will save a lot of money since I can use it with tap water or from water fountains instead of buying all those plastic bottles. So simple to use and It even made my home tap water taste better.Just be sure to drain the water from it before putting it back inside its case, to let the osmosis screens dry out and keep it from getting moldy between uses. The only thing I would like to see changed on this product is the silicone cap for the case, which is why I dropped a star. If you lay the case down on a surface that has dust or pet hair on it, you're going to find it sticking on the silicone cap. If you lay the case down on a surface that has dust or pet hair on it, you're going to find it sticking on the silicone cap. I put the case in my purse to take it to work with me and the lint from the open package of tissues in my handbag got on it. A rinse with water cleans it up, but it is a bit annoying.
The new LifeStraw Sip is a great addition to the LifeStraw lineup. Being slim makes it easy enough to carry everywhere, any time. The case keeps it clean and the caps are so easy to remove for washing.I love that this came in a 3 pack, giving me options to leave one full time in my hiking pack and one in my emergency bag. You could even gift some to friends of family.Water tastes fresh and clean and the LifeStraw Sip is just like using a regular straw making it more convenient than previous products in their line.Definitely read the instructions to be sure you prep the filter properly and understand the filtration limits. While it's a great product it is a filter not a sanitation product and might not remove chemicals or fertilizers from run off.
I really like that the lifestraw sip water filter straw comes in its own carrying case -- it's sturdy, surprisingly hefty, and won't get lost in a crammed pack. I really like the concept, and as a last resort backup, this will do really well out in the backcountry. Be forewarned: the instructions pamphlet that comes with the product doesn't go into great detail regarding use -- it makes no mention of rinsing the straw filter before using for the first time, and I highly recommend that you do so. Keep sipping and spitting out the water until the chemical-y aftertaste fades away. Pamphlet doesn't say for how long you can reuse this straw, but you can find extra info on their website. You get three of these bad boys in a single package. Share with your friends!
Overall, this is a solid straw to have as backup for the backcountry and great for traveling. It’s sturdy, compact, well-made, and very discrete. Definitely take note of the care instructions for storage and cleaning, which are simple but noteworthy. The straw is difficult to drink from, and although the FAQ indicates it’s easier to drink once the membrane is saturated, I didn’t notice a significant difference personally. Because of this, I would not use it as a primary option for backpacking but it is small enough to have as a backup filtration (I typically use gravity filtration or squeeze systems for backpacking which has a lot more volume). These straws are fantastic for travel, especially in countries where the water is a bit more susceptible. These straws are fantastic for travel, especially in countries where the water is a bit more susceptible. They also look much more standard straw-like (therefore discrete) than some of the other LifeStraw models which I appreciate. I have also used this in places with well/hard water and I do notice a difference in taste in these locations. Overall I would recommend this product for travel and backpacking.
I have a LifeStraw from many, many years ago that was large and bulky and fairly expensive. So many years later, these are a huge improvement. They're lightweight, have a slender and cute carrying case, and far less expensive. I'm impressed with how much this technology has improved over the years. I carry these on camping and backpacking trips and it makes it so much easier than bringing along a bulky water filtration system. The instructions are very clear and tell you how to make sure they're dried out a bit before storing for a longer period of time. Overall, these are a great product to bring along on your next camping trip!
The LifeStraw Sip is the first LifeStraw product that I've ever tested and so far, it's been a surprisingly convenient, lightweight, and compact water filtering option for quick hydration stops outdoors while on the go biking and hiking on day trips or to have on hand while traveling in towns/cities and other areas with potentially questionable water quality. It's also a convenient item to add and have on hand as part of an emergency disaster kit.Pros: The straw is compact, lightweight, filters down to .20 micros (But keep in mind this straw does NOT filter viruses), is reusable and easy to store, it has a relatively long lifespan (1000 L) and drinking water is easy, with only minor, but noticeable resistance compared to a normal straw. It's easy to sip water through the straw provided the water isn't too murky or full of sediment and it doesn't take much effort, especially if using the straw to drink from a cup, Nalgene bottle, or directly from a moving water source, such as a stream, river, or lake.On the aesthetics side, the straw doesn't attract a lot of attention at restaurants or in other public settings. It's also easy to store and have on-hand in a daypack, laptop bag, or a large hip pack. What Could Be Improved: Adding a cap or seal that can be placed on the bottom of the straw to help prevent any lingering unfiltered water from contaminating the drinking end of the straw while in the carrying case would help minimize the chance of accidentally consuming parasites, bacteria, or microplastics. The included instructions are clear about blowing out/discharging any excess water from the straw before putting it in the carry case, so this might not be an issue so long as you're diligent about doing it consistently, but adding a simple plastic cap or cover would help provide more piece of mind and help minimize the risk.Overall, I’ve been impressed with the simplicity of the design, the ease of use, and how little space the straw takes up in a pack (or while stored in an emergency disaster kit). If in the future LifeStraw can develop or add filtration technology that filters viruses without making the straw more challenging or cumbersome to use, it would be an even more versatile product.
