Purchased and installed this today. Even though this is a generic component, the hardware is not properly designed to mount onto a steel roller door as it is described. When the fastenings are tightened up from the rear to secure it in place, the base backing plate bends a little. When this happens the arms that are meant to be be freely moving to engage the side bar locks are placed under strain and attempting to turn the latch becomes extremely difficult. Had to install spacers between the face plate and the backing plate to allow the arms to move freely.

I bought one of these, and installed it, about 2 years ago, and had no problem with it, until 3 days ago, when the key got stuck. Upon close inspection, I found that one of the small screws, in the small plate, which holds the lock barrel in place, had worked it's way out. I couldn't find it, being so small, and my garage has a dirt floor. So, for anyone reading this thread, if you have one of these, just check those screws, regularly, and make sure that they stay tight. In the photo, you can see the little screws I'm referring to ( pic of the new replacement)
Bought to replace a broken lock on a 35 year old door. It lined up perfect, works faultless and far smoother than the original. Only draw back is I don’t know why they don’t include the face plate with it to cover the old holes, it’s available seperate by special order only.
I bought this lock twice . Both with the same issue. For no reason The key gets stuck and there is no way to pull it out. It has happened to me twice. Absolutely disappointedVery disappointed. Stay away from this product
I bought this as my only quick solution to replace an old dead garage door lock. I was concerned by the review that said the key gets stuck, and it did suffer the same issue after a couple of months. I googled the issue and found that this commonly happens on this type of lock when the adjustment screw (on the other side) is loose. Tightened it and it's working perfect again! If it happens to you, just push against the lock centre to remove your key and then adjust the screw on the inside.
