I love multi-effects. I’ve been a fan since the Zoom 505, and had multiple Digitech, Valenton, Soundcake, and Line 6 products over the years always looking for that pedal that would give me everything I needed. The POD Go has been my buddy for over a year and while it is a fantastic pedal, it’s limited in processing power if you want to do more wet effects or even have the option for multiple amps. I’ve wanted a Helix since they came out but I couldn’t afford to shell out for one and so when the opportunity came about to catch this on sale around Christmas, I had to pick it up. It’s sturdy, easy to set up and use but as complicated as you want to make it as well. I can side load impulse responses to dial in a better live sound and I can choose from a crazy amount of amps, distortions, amazing reverbs and delays, as well as modulations. It’s absolutely amazing. The POD Go was a game changer for me and is in many ways a “baby helix” but what a difference stepping up to the real thing makes. Absolutely amazing.

I gig weekly, and I have to play styles ranging from ambient to twangy to well distorted. Over the years I've used pedalboards and multi-fx units, sometimes with amps, sometimes with DIs.This box does all that, and gives me studio quality sound. I use Helix Native to design sounds for multi-tracking, then move those sounds over to the Helix LT for use live. The ease of editing on the unit itself means I can sketch out ideas quickly, or adapt patches I've already designed. Where else (but through modeling like this Helix engine) can you push mild compression into a Maxon SD-9 clone (Hedgehog D9 on Helix/HX), then split signal to parallel JC45 and Plexi amps before putting both signals back through a single 4x12 cab loaded with greenbacks? It sounds fantastic.I have been using an HX stomp live on stage, but I vastly prefer the features and full Helix dual engine in this Helix LT to the stomp. Since I don't do lots of sends or extra controller pedals, this unit has enough I/O at a more attractive price than the full fat Helix. If I had the extra cash, I'd probably still have gotten this unit because it does everything I need now, with enough power/possibility for things I haven't thought of, and gets me compliments on my recorded sound.

This is a very good unit for the money especially if you're buying the blemished/demo model however there are a few things you need to know and properly set this up to be able to use all the functions and create your own presets. What they don't tell you when you buy this is that it is locked in demo mode (joystick enter button will not work) as it was probably used in the store. You'll know if it is locked in demo mode when you power it on and the version of firmware listed has the word demo next to it.. Also, mine only came with the unit wrapped in brown packing and a power cord thrown in the box, there was no USB cable, manual, or anything else. Also, mine only came with the unit wrapped in brown packing and a power cord thrown in the box, there was no USB cable, manual, or anything else. This really was no big deal as you can download a manual from the line 6 website, And before you buy a USB cable you might already have one that works such as using a printer usb cable which is what I did. In order to unlock this from demo mode and to be able to use the unit's functions, follow the simple steps to update the firmware and it will automatically unlock demo mode. It took me a few days watching videos and reading articles to figure out how to do this is there a lot of information that can be confusing, but this is the simplest way.1. Go to the line 6 website and click on the download button. Make sure your unit is not plugged into your PC with the usb cable at this time.2. At the top of the line 6 download page are three gray boxes, under the "hardware" box, choose "Helix LT", under the middle box "software" box choose "HX Edit", under the last gray box choose your "operating system". Then download. This will download everything you need to update the firmware, drivers for your PC, and also download and install the line 6 updater.3. After all of that has download it, connect your USB cable from the helix to your PC, then click on the line 6 updater icon on your PC home screen, choose your helix LT, Then it should take about 15 minutes to update your unit. After that your demo will be unlocked.
I upgraded from a Pod Go. Amazing how much more you can do with this, and the Pod was a great first step to transition to these sophisticated pedals. Believe it or not, there are some things I like more about the Pod. The handles on the side made it much easier to pick up, and some of the editing like swapping pedals by stepping on two pedals at the same time need to migrate to the Helix LT, but that's nitpicking. I've only begun to explore everything the Helix LT can do. If you are on the fence, buy it! You won't be disappointed.
So glad I took the plunge and bought this. Massive trade up in sound from stomp boxes. The USB interface lets me plug it straight into Steinberg on my laptop for composing and recording, eliminating the need for a standalone analogue - digi converter. The screen is very clear to read even from standing, and patch editing is easy and can be done using a laptop and large monitor or via the controls on the unit. The unit feels robust and well made, as is the dedicated Line 6 gig bag.
Overall:I am coming from the Pod Go (great unit as well) which had served me well but I needed more out of the unit. The Helix LT has everything that I need. The HX Edit had it's learning curve since I was use to Pod Go Edit but with some time and watching Youtube video's I quickly learned my way around. There is so much this unit can do and I like having 8 snapshots giving me many options for one preset. For example one of my presets has a clean, clean lead, crunch, crunch lead, medium gain, medium gain lead, hi gain, and hi gain lead for that one preset making it easy to play so many songs with just that one preset. The options for tones is amazing. Anything you can think of this unit can do it. If you know how a signal chain works creating presets comes pretty ... I would highly recommend this product to anyone.
I had a Pod Go and didn't see the point of upgrading as I am a home user only. The LT has advantages but for me it wasnt worth the upgrade. That's changed now with the new update making the cabs sound great. I was running out of DSP on the Pod Go more and more as well and it has the old cab sounds. I was running out of space on Pod Go for patches, well the Lt has way more room for those. It can double and treble up amps and cabs as well. More footswitches, bigger better screen and more options in general and the price I got ti for was bettet han anywhere else thanks to PMT Online. I had to go for it with all the pluses and the price being a no brainer and I am so glad I did. Its just better than the Pod go in every way. I am actually suprised how heavy and well ... I am actually suprised how heavy and well built it is for a supposed Light version of the Helix and the space between footswitces and wah etc is just more comfortable to get around than the Pod Go. I wish I had bought this and not the Pod Go but then again when I got the Pod Go the LT was probably 240 quid more than I got it for, so goos things come to those who wait I guess. Sure you could find other effects units that maybe be slightly better for amps and others for affects but the Helix range is the all rounder, it does everythign I want and it has a built in wah wah. So there's that! that all the other don't have as far as I can see.
I've only had this unit for a week or so and I'm loving it! - My fingers are sore because I'm playing so much. You can build more or less any sound you'd like and assign them or elements of them to specific foot switches allowing you switch between setup for different songs as well as switching effects on/off when desired.I've got many months of learning to do on this yet as it's so extensive. If you love playing guitar, but don't have the space for many multiple apms, cabs & peddles - This is your solution. It's brilliant!
Helix LT replaces my very well used POD HD 500, which I used for live performance (4 cable FX hookup usually, and modeled amp/cab through PA occasionally), developing and recording backing tracks (modeled signal direct to DAW), and recording stem tracks for other artists (modeled and dry signal direct to DAW).Helix functionality is similar to POD, but Helix is an entirely different class. Helix amp/cab/FX models are dramatically more realistic than POD and are actually close to the real deal in terms of touch sensitivity. The Helix is also incredibly transparent with virtually no coloration or signal degradation, unlike some of the POD models and FX. The Helix is also incredibly transparent with virtually no coloration or signal degradation, unlike some of the POD models and FX. I/O on the Helix is versatile allowing a multitude of outputs and path creation including straightforward digital output of the dry signal for later DAW processing. User interface is well thought out, with visual signal path representation on a large screen, and blocks and signal paths that can be easily dragged around into different configurations. The hardware is significantly upgraded as well. Case construction and switching seem to be much more robust than the POD (whose buttons and switches were failure prone) and color coded led rings around each foot switch give visual cues as to switch function.I was able to set up my basic live performance (4 cable) presets and within a couple of days, feel comfortable enough with the Helix to use it in performance (except everything is on covid lockdown now!!) But I've had the advantage of using POD extensively for almost 10 years. If you are new to this type of pedal board, plan to take some time to learn how to work Helix. Its also pretty expensive, but the results are worth the time and effort.
