My band is going in ears and I needed something to help that process. My guitar players have the full fat versions of the Helix, but being a lowly bass player, I don’t require such overkill. I therefore plumped for the Helix Stomp. Got to be honest, it is packed full of features, easy to use, intuitive, and versatile. It sounds amazing. So very, very happy with it. Welcome to the digital age, at last. Love it. Beautiful things do come in small packages.

I play bass in a heavy band and I'm in love with this thing. My "clean" tone is always at least a little dirty and this delivered everything from B7K grit to parallax style split frequency mangling. Took a couple days of YouTube videos and forums to really nail the setup but now I feel comfortable diving deep into customization. Highly recommend using the computer app to create and manage presets. I've run into a couple limitations that would be resolved by getting the XL, but honestly I'm kinda glad I'm limited to keep me from over complicating my patches.

But I think Snapshots are the easiest way to go.One of the big advantages is that I can adjust all the levels of the different presets to be the same, so my idea is that in the end I should never need to touch the volume control on the guitar.I have also now Brough an FRFR speaker, which means the Stomp can generate sounds from all sorts of different well known amps, and I can sell my old amp, and would never need to look at other amps again.I’ve gone from being scared of it to really looking forward to our next band practice. Well worth the price, and the free bag was a good bonus.

Overall:Been stalking Youtube reviews of the Helix family for a couple years as I wasn't ready to invest $1000 or $1500 in a multi-effects unit, never mind a Line 6 product. I had the original POD back in the day and it was cool, but only for headphone practice. The HX effects came out and while that was pretty good looking to me, I wanted amp modeling but only for one reason, when at home late at night I need to use headphones to practice in order to not make the family crazy. $1000 for an LT was still a little much for me.So when this came out, I really thought even at $600, if I have a killer practice solution I'd be happy enough... but I sold off a few pedals I don't use much to take a chunk out of the investment.Immediately I plugged in using headphones, browsed through some "meh" presets but there are some really great sounding ones too. OK, I'm impressed I'm thinking. Read the manual, started making my own presets... I was floored how awesome it all sounded. So then, through the front end of a Fender Deluxe Reverb... I'm getting excited at the possibilities because it's sounding killer.Coupe days later, the acid test, I bring it to practice. No other pedals, just the Stomp into the front end of an Orange TH30 clean channel. I previously made a few presets that included some effects I usually would bother with. I play mostly metal, Mastodon cover band. I added an octave pedal, rotary speaker, delays along with drive pedals (not all in 1 preset, more on this later). I'm feeling good, things sound great and no tap dancing as I hit one button to transition from vastly different tones was so awesome. Bandmates were pretty much in agreement, that it sounded fantastic. Plugging into my Mac is great as I now don't need my other interface and I can edit on the laptop and do some recording. This thing is crazy versatile.I can now justify going all in with an LT or the floor but for now, it's doing the job. Maybe when Helix 2 comes out, I'll upgrade then.6 effects in a patch is the limit, that sucks for certain... but honestly they need to justify not giving you full Helix functionality at half the price... I get that. So I'm not annoyed by this.Haven't needed support, can't really comment on that.Ease of use is decent but you have to read the manual. I don't like multifunctional buttons, but given the size, it's acceptable.So my pedal board will probably hang around because I use a compressor almost all the time and figure I can save myself a slot. I'll also plug my tuner pedal because I don't want to lose 1 of 3 switches on a tuner. I'll most likely put a few of my dirt pedals on there probably because those a real special to me, but maybe not... it sounds that good.I still have to run some cables for the 4 cable method and I'm pretty excited to do that.All in all, I'm in love with this thing and maybe I will just bite the bullet and get an LT. I think I can rule out the full floor because honestly, I'm not missing the scribble strips with the Stomp.I'd recommend this to anyone.PS - I don't play just metal, I've created rockabilly presets and classic rock presets as well and again, it's kicking major ass!
Having been a Helix Floor user for over 6 years, I was surprised that adapting to the smaller user interface was still quite a steep learning curve, but I swear this thing sounds better. Maybe it’s psychosomatic, or maybe it’s genuinely clearer because there’s less i/o going on. They’re both running the same firmware etc.Either way, I’m so pleased to be able to retain effects that I’ve been using for years, while migrating to a more traditional board with other pedals, all switching seamlessly via a Gigrig G3.PMT was the only retailer that had one in stock, and it was less expensive than listed elsewhere anyway. Arrived next day.I love the Ltd edition purple.
Good things come in small packages!This thing is amazing and packs a punch. It has so many features and great amp models. It takes up minimal space if you're using it live.I mostly use it for practicing at home, but our Saxophonist uses it live as an effects processor. Works perfectly for that. For the money, it's a must-have.
Over the years I've been playing guitar I haven't really had to use an amp, or have not been able to due to volume restrictions, I've not really played around with effects either. After a few YouTube videos, I found a pretty interesting sound within 15 minutes of playing with the Helix. I found linking this to a laptop easy, and also playing music is easy also (I use a Mac). Together with those options I've already found, the fact that it can be an audio input for recording, tops the deal. This is an excellent device, that appears easy to use, has more options and controls then I know what to do with, and sounds (to my ears) extremely good.

Its also much cheaper than buying a proper tube amp.Being a new player, it allows me to explore all manner of different amps to find a sound I like so when I eventually do buy a tube amp I’ll know exactly what I like.The size of the unit is just perfect for fitting onto a pedalboard and sounds amazing along with my existing pedals before it in the chain or in the Stomps FX Loop.Matching the tones of the songs I’m leaning is both fun and just amazing how close I can get in a few ...
