This Linksys router has MAX-STREAM, which provides two dedicated Wi-Fi bands with combined speeds of up to 2.6 Gbps on two bands and up to 5.0 gigahertz on the other two, so gaming performance was greatly improved. With four streams of data and the latest Wireless-AC technology, MU-MIMO video buffering is a thing of the past. I know I am getting the most up-to-date technology with this router. The router was very simple to put together. The four antennas are adjustable for maximum signal strength throughout your home. The instruction user manual is very easy to read and follow. You can even set this router with Alexa. I just wish I had done this a long time ago.

Don't buy it. It sucks.

I bought my first router in 1995 and of all the routers I've owned since then, this one is the just about the worst. Devices drop off and on wifi and wired connections. The "no internet" light on the top flashes on and off regularly. Tried disabling IPV6, wifi meshing, updating firmware, reconnecting every device one by one. The closest I cam to making this thing functional was when I disabled the second 5ghz radio. Still the experience was subpar. Reconnected my EA7500 and everything worked as it should. So much for this "upgrade".

Dropped connections and extreme packet loss!

Since the WiFi reception was not great in some areas in our second level I decided to go with the EA8300 router paired with the RE9000 extender. I set this up over the holidays. Immediately, I noticed my connection to Skype for Business was dropping/reconnecting multiple times per hour and Zoom calls would get very choppy at times, losing audio for 3-5 seconds each time. Zoom logs pointed to extreme 98%+ packet loss during these “outages”. This happens both from wired (tried multiple cables) and WiFi connections.After many days of troubleshooting, I reluctantly switched back to my old router and the problem immediately disappeared. I worked flawlessly for an entire week, no issues whatsoever. After some advice from the community here, I reset the EA8300 back to factory settings, re-installed the latest firmware and tried again. This time, my work laptop was the only device connected, also no range extender. I started experiencing the issues again within the first 30 minutes! When I went back to the WRT1900AC and the problem disappears.Unfortunately, the retailer only has a 15 day return policy so I am stuck with an expensive router that I cannot use nor return. I do not have time to troubleshoot faulty hardware, I just need it to work.If you are considering this, make sure you put it through testing within the return policy, you may find yourself needed to return it.

No worries for me, as FIOS had run an ethernet connection, at the time of installation.Please know that this modem was the final step in me cutting the cable, and subscribing a-la-carte services.I have trusted Linksys over the years and was pleased to find a rock-bottom price.In the user menu there is a drag 'n drop area where you can prioritize your wifi connected items. The only finishing touch, for one our devices, a MacBook Pro, was to delete the old printer, and re-install with Airport as a default driver. Seriously, this was as easy as you could imagine.My wife's iPad and iPhone application printed as expected, as the printer and her devices were on the same network. Again, no glitches with Linksys.There are no complaints. Even the "guest' network was off, by default.It appears that this modem services multiple devices, on separate bandwidths, automatically. What a great leap in wifi, or have I been too trusting with an out of date modem supplied by my vendor? Probably so.If I have learned anything from this process, is I COMPLETELY recommend cutting cable, buying the Linksys Max Stream AC2200 Tri Band Wifi Router (EA8300) ONLY if you have a wired connection to your Fios. If you were lucky enough to have an ethernet connection option to your Fios, then this Linksys AC2200 is for YOU!!!

Only after the initial setup has been finished, I can go into the UI using the computer's web browser. 2 - Tested a power failure scenario. The unit remained in a "zombie" mode, meaning that when I plugged it back into the wall socket, the unit turned on, but did not provide access to the internet until I went into the mobile app and somehow that "woke" the router online. This is unacceptable. 3 - It seems that it does not have as much RAM as other models or competitors. 512 total RAM seems too low. 4 - Quad-core CPU under 1Ghz? Why? Competitors and other models have faster clock speeds. 5 - Included LAN cables are category 5e. WHY? Category 8 is already out, which means a category 7 cable of the same length is very cheap. Category 5e should not be used anymore. It works for school and college work, but intensive gaming, streaming, and connecting multiple devices it is not recommended anymore. Even category 6 cable is acceptable, but not category 5e. 6 - Power adapter is one of those big box things that take up a lot of space in the power outlet. In the year 2019, we do not need those big box-style power adapters. Even the Atari 5200, made in 1982, with its huge power adapter (and heavy), had the regular 2-prong cable which would fit nicely in any outlet. Manufacturers need to fix this design problem. Not just LinkSys, but electronics manufacturers in general. Verdict: Would recommend this product because it is a solid product and reliable. Great router and east to set up.

This router was purchased to replace a Netgear (expensive) router that did a firmware update then died. It was very easy to install. The app is very easy to use. We also purchase a Linksys wifi extender and it linked right up with this router. The range is somewhat low compared to the Netgear router but we have a large home and therefore added the range extender and it works out great. We have many users and devices in our home including kids, security cameras, thermostats, Rain Bird sprinkler system, ROKU etc and everything zips right along. No issues.

I have to say that after using this Linksys router for roughly 1-2 weeks I’ve been extremely satisfied. I had previously been using the regular router that my internet provider was providing me (for a monthly rate...). With this router I don’t have to worry about that monthly fee anymore and quite honestly overtime it pays for itself in savings. Furthermore I’ve actually noticed a stronger connection along with faster speeds. I’ve run a speed test a couple of times and was pleasantly surprised that this modem was pumping a little bit more Mpbs that what I’m actually paying my provider for. I was streaming HD video from my phone when I walked to my neighbor's driveway, across the cul-de-sac, and I didn't have one break in the video or any signs of signal weakness. I then walked west, 2 houses down to my neighbor's while they were outside. I was connected to the 5 GHz network, with 2 bars (about 200' away, and I switched to 2.4 GHz which had 3 bars. I was able to stream HD video from about 250' away from the router. I have NOT walked north, or east while streaming HD video on either network, and will do so soon. I also did NOT perform a speed test (by Ookla) at these ranges, but felt it wasn't necessary with the quality of the video streams. -----FEATURES----- It's very easy to change the basics of the router with the LinkSys app (the most advanced settings available were Prioritization/QOS, parental controls, DNS servers, Link Aggregation, and network channels/width , but every feature can be changed with the router's "broswer page"). VLAN, network map info, client tables, IPV6 addressing, administration, diagnostics, MAC filtering, schedulers, and airtime fairness are some of the settings available on the router's browser page. -----RELIABILITY----- I cannot vouch for the reliability of the EA8300, yet. However, my experience with LinkSys in the past has been very pleasing (user-end experience with at least 3 LinkSys routers prior to this one, as well as 3-5 Netgears, 2 TP-Links, and 1 Unifi device). If this router decides to be short-lived then I will definitely update this portion of the review. -----COMPLAINTS--NEGATIVES--CONS----- Only 3 DNS server settings are available, and they don't really designate separate DNS servers for IPV4 vs IPV6. I wish there was a way to list these separately under the main LAN settings page. You can only prioritize 3 devices for QOS/Prioritization, and I wish they had at least 5 "slots" available No option for VPN pass-through, although this is not a requirement, for me, at this time. I'd just think that you should have that with a $200 router. Mobile browser support: You can only access the the router's settings from a mobile device by using the LinkSys app. With ALL other routers, in the past, I've been able to open a Chrome tab ,type in the router's IP, login, and make every single adjustment from there. However, I must use my laptop to change every setting, and I find this oddly inconvenient. -----OVERALL--- As long as you don't need VPN, or the ability to prioritize more than 3 devices, then this router is an absolute MUST have for anyone who wants to enjoy wireless multimedia while roaming their entire yard (or hanging out with the neighbors). i bought the ae 8300 about three years ago when i started having glitchy/laggy internet around the house. I was paying for 50 mg down and only getting about 25. it was super easy to set up and the speed increase was immediate. no more glitch. soon after getting the ae 8300 i up graded my internet to 350 down 30 up. and this thing works like a champ. i can stream two movies and have an Xbox going and everybody is happy (I also have 11 ip cams, and a house full of internet connected crap-like my laundry dryer). the only cons I have are: on the "network map" it misidentifies way too many connected devices! sometimes ip addresses are wrong, sometimes it will ID a device as Apple, and it is not.
