This yarn creates gorgeous products and feels amazing while working with! However I have two complaints which is why this is 4 and not 5 stars. One, once in a while, you'll come across a problematic skein, where the yarn has broken in spots and tied back together. If it was gradient consistent, it wouldn't be a bad deal. However, I had one skein in particular that was broken in three different spots, changing the gradient drastically. I also had a few skeins that were tied together at least once, so I'd recommend spinning this yarn before you start to make sure you can do what you want to do! Two, if you are a little sloppy (like me) and tend to make mistakes and need to go back, the yarn fibers will be tangled up in different rows, making it so you need to rip it ... MoreThis yarn creates gorgeous products and feels amazing while working with! So that makes it tricky to work with, considering how often and easily it separates. I used a 5.5mm hook and I did the peace sign granny square with this yarn, and it came out absolutely lovely! Just after a few headaches. But overall a beautiful yarn for any kind of project! I made some simple V stitch hand warmers with the leftover from a skein and they're gorgeous too!

Metropolis is beautiful and I bout 6 skeins to make a wrap shawl. Gorgeous, couldn’t be happier with the color BUT that’s where the good things end. This thing got harrier than Bigfoot himself in the first ten minutes of use. One whole skein knotted in the center. I had to eventually cut pieces out, hand wind them and tie them together to get the most out of each skein. I also have to shave the whole piece and I haven’t even worn it yet!! I don’t see it lasting despite the hours of work I put in.As someone allergic to wool I look for beautiful colorways in acrylic and cotton but this was sadly a bust.

While the colors of this yarn are stunning, there are a few issues with it. The yarn thickness is inconsistent throughout the skein. I would not use it for anything that requires a specific gauge. I encountered several large knotted clumps; some of which had to be cut out, resulting in a lot of wasted yarn. The yarn just gets caught on itself, due to its fuzzy texture. I recommend winding into a cake before beginning your project, as you will have to join cut strands together. I found these issues with all colors of these yarns.

I was trying to match the shade of gray of another yarn with which I wanted to use this to make the cuffs on a faux fur muff, and this one was the closest match. My other criterion in choosing this yarn was softness, and it was great for that. Finally, I loved the beautiful sheen of the Landscapes yarn. The only thing I found that I disliked about it (apart from the relatively high price) was that, when I found it necessary to take out some of my crocheting work to correct an error, it wasn’t always possible to pull it out; it seemed that the yarn sort of feathered from the use of the hook , so stitches that didn’t appear to be split must have been slightly split after all.
I am just getting back into crochet and this yarn was enough to make me want to quit! The thickness of the yarn varied from so very thin (I thought it might break!) to so thick I could barely pull a loop with the hook I was using. And they have random colors tied together in knots (4 knotted joins in one skein). I loved the colors, but I will never buy this brand again. Wish I could give it zero stars.
I've been using this yarn for a few years now. It's SO soft and I love the colors and I think it works up so nicely using a 6 or 6.5mm crochet hook. I've used one skein for a longer/4" wide scarf and a few skeins for shawls and they've been gorgeous. The roving colors are really stunning (IMO). I also love the drape of the yarn with a 6.5m hook. One key to using this yarn is to NOT pull yarn from the center--it's not a center pull yarn, people. That said, the one thing that bothers me is that I have encountered random knots and that's a bummer--especially when you're paying so much for a skein. There also used to be a few more colors that don't seem to be offered anymore (I'm assuming it's an issue with the manufacturer and not that of the distributors)-Wild ... MoreI've been using this yarn for a few years now. Anyway, I recommend trying it. Especially if it's ever on sale.
I have ordered several of the variegated varieties of the Landscapes yarn. The colors are beautiful and the gradual shift from one color to another is great. The yarn does tend to catch and tangle due to the amount of fuzziness (including releasing fuzzies that get in your eyes) but it's perfectly workable. What isn't as workable is the fact that all of the variegated skeins I've worked with aren't a full skein of gradual color changes. They all seem to have abrupt stops, where they are tied together to another color section. Not only are the knots to big to be worked, necessitating the need to untie the knot, creating two different balls of yarn, but the colors that are tied together don't match. Not only are the knots to big to be worked, necessitating the need to untie the knot, creating two different balls of yarn, but the colors that are tied together don't match. For example, in the Boardwalk Promenade skein I am currently working with, the last section before the knot I came to was Lime green, but it's tied to a section of hot pink. It ruins the gradual shift in color so you have to run through until you find a section that matches and join the yarn there, leaving you to scrap the yarn in the middle that didn't match (or waste time joining in several different sections). The amount of time that's added to any project trying to correct this issue makes its value debatable.
I don’t know if I just happened to get a bad skein of yarn or what, but I will probably never buy this brand again. I did not tie either of those knots, they came out of the skein like that. The first one wasn’t super noticeable, but the second one was. When I tried to pull it apart to take pictures, the little fuzzy stuff off the yarn got knotted up and I had to shimmy a tiny pair of scissors in and cut it off to pull my work out. I bought this stuff because my daughter loved it and begged me to make a hat out of it and I’m pretty sure she’s going to be disappointed in the end result of this keeps happening. This is the first time I’ve ever purchased Lion Brand and it will be the last. I bought this yarn after watching Michelle on Bag O Day. I became very frustrated with this yarn right off. I don't like all the loose fuzz of this yarn. Upon seeing a mistake I tried to un ravel to the point of the error. I should have just thrown the yarn away. Its impossible to pull out the stitches. I dont care if your are a professional. It just ain't possible. I will never buy this product again and plan on returning the 3 skeins I have not used. I love the colors but don't dare make a mistake. You will get frustrating trying to snip the fluff and not the yarn itself. Sorry I bought it.
I have created so many projects with Landscapes yarn! I was first attracted to it because of its self-striping characteristic and the beautiful colorways. When I began working with it, it was so soft and has an elegant sheen to it. I've made scarfs, cowls, hats, ponchos and shrugs with it, both for ladies and men. The gift recipients love the texture and colors, and I love the uniqueness of the garments I make and keep for myself. It can be made up in a variety of different sizes of hooks and/ or needles for different effects. I have tried other brands of self-striping roving yarn and Landscapes always gives me the best results. I've used all but one of the available colors. So please make more colors! I want to keep creating with this yarn!
