It features loop handles for convenient handling and the oven is easy to clean and maintain. A simple Cast-Iron Dutch Oven, like the one your grandmother used, still ranks as one of the best cooking utensils ever made. It gives you a nearly non-stick surface, without the possible harmful fumes generated by preheating chemically treated nonstick cookware. Many of the pieces of cast iron cookware made in the Lodge Foundry over a century ago remain in use today.

Incredible bang for buck. We needed a slightly huge (9qt) Dutch oven for a party and the thought of spending $400 for the enamel Le Crueset when we may use it every year or so was annoying me. I love my very old lodge skillet so I took a chance on this dutch over and I am thrilled particularly for the price point. It is preseasoned so did not take much work to get seasoned to perfection. Should be obvious but the 9qt with lid is very heavy and once filled requires both hands and lifting with my legs to get it out of the oven.

Bought this last year as a treat with my dividend specifically for the purpose of bread baking and I gotta say it's a total dream. I know most people use enameled cast iron for their bread but I knew I wanted a dutch oven regardless and it's been long enough now that I can say I am completely happy with it. The size is also just right for medium-large loaves! Cast iron is cast iron so it's hard to mess up and you now exactly what you're getting so to be honest there's not much to say if you know you like cast iron. Season it well and have at it, it's also a great size for stews.

Nice heavy Dutch Oven. Fits perfectly in my smoker. Excellent product, excellent quality. The removable handle allows storage in the box ir comes in, keeping everything it sits on or bumps into clean!
I couldn't be happier with this particular purchase! I am an avid user of cast iron and I have several very old pieces that work as well as any new product. This particular cast iron dutch oven says that it comes preseasoned, and it was absolutely true! Some places say they are, but I haven't made the purchase because I could see that they weren't. Truthfully, I wasn't very hopeful that this one would be seasoned right, since I've never made a purchase like this without actually seeing it with my own two eyes. I'm glad I went for it.The bail handle makes it MUCH easier to lift, as it IS a very heavy pot, so be advised of this, especially if you have any type of recurring joint pain. One thing I will note, that I didn't even expect (because I've never had an iron ... MoreI couldn't be happier with this particular purchase! I hadn't given it any thought at all before purchasing, but the lid is so heavy, that it keeps items that usually boil over from doing that.I told both my children, this is the beginning of a legacy! I highly recommend this!
Apprehensive about handle for 20 oz tumbler (fit, stretching, etc.) after reading reviews. Marked location of handle on mug. I then wrapped the handle that slides up bottle with "tire tape" or "friction tape" like we used to use on baseball bats years ago. The handle now rests 1 1/2" lower with not stretch or slip!
The dimentions on this is so absolutely strange, its nothing like the item shown! I was expecting a classic dutch oven, similar to a pot. Cast iron is all i use and i was needing a larger pot with my family size. This beast was as wide as my ENTIRE STOVE TOP. Its only a few inches tall, abour 3-4 but like 20 inches across, its couldnt be used in anything other than the inside of an oven or over a fire. Was really dissapointed the photos were so misleading. Im not sure how this could be used in a normal house setting. I wanted something taller, not something you would have to cook halfway on TWO BURNERS.
This Dutch oven was perfect! I was serving chili at a camping party for my husbands 50th birthday. I have another Dutch oven but it’s no where near as good as this lodge one. I’m very happy with it, and I love that the lid can cover the spout if needed.
These Yeti Handles work on just about any brand of 20oz "keep hot or cold" travel tumbler. I've put them on all of the family Yetis & non-Yeti tumblers alike. Unlike cheaper imitations, none of these true Yeti handles have ever broken in the last 6yrs we've had our tumblers! And for that kind of quality, the Dick's price is right!
The wife chose a seriously awesome tasting chicken stew for the first meal cooked in our new 5Qt. Cast Iron Dutch oven. She said it felt heavier than her 7Qt. enamel Dutch oven, but we weighed them both and found (of course) that the 5Qt was lighter. Why the difference in perceived weight? The enamel pot can only be lifted by the two handles on either side, two hands at a time. This 5Qt has the bail handle, so you usually lift it with one hand. Just something to keep in mind when maneuvering it, full of sizzling stew out of a hot oven. The first recipe turned out to have a fair bit of acid in the ingredients (tomato, white wine), so there was a bit of rust on the lid (see picture). Will need to work on seasoning the pot (and lid!) a bit more, methinks. The ... MoreThe wife chose a seriously awesome tasting chicken stew for the first meal cooked in our new 5Qt.
